Chad was extremely welcoming and flexible - responding to multiple emails of mine before I even got started.

:TL;DR Summary: This…read moreis perhaps the smallest gym I've ever visited! It's very close to my house, in a welcoming shopping plaza and has plenty of parking. Parking matters in Chapel Hill! This gym has everything except a dedicated shower room, it has a single restroom/shower for each "gender." The temperature inside is hot, the gym is cramped, but it has everything a body needs...right? There are a couple of fitness machines...literally. In short, the price is FAR too high for what I can get elsewhere for better. If you're religious or don't mind the religious messages join the YMCA for a slightly higher price and get more for your money, or perhaps try a more popular chain. It's a 24/7 gym which is what it excels at, you'll be in and out licketly split. There are only 5 ellipticals, a few bikes, stair steppers and 5 or so treadmills. If you arrive at a busy time it's possible that your desired machine will be in use. NOOOOOOO. :Atmosphere: -Depending upon the time of your arrival the clientele varies widely. The elderly visitors are nice enough, but some of the muscle heads lifting massive free weights are a bit snobby(They stared at my noodley arms and made me feel a bit sad). There are also FAR too many people who just want to chat on the machines or jabber on their cellphones. -The generic top 50 hits music was not too intrusive, but it was annoying. -It's weird that the gym is not staffed at certain hours and that the front counter is literally adjacent to the ellipticals/bikes. You will feel like you're working out on top of the staff at the counter. And if you have ADD you will be distracted by the people constantly going in and out of the door. Annoying! -There are 5 tvs and a rather nice view of the ups store from the machines, if you like to have something to watch. Unfortunately, the tvs are usually tuned to ESPN. -The temperature of this gym is HOT. It feels like a sauna and that's because of the horrid hot yoga room populated by clone girls in ugg boots at certain times. Ugh, the entire place feels warm and humid instead of cool. I saw a very large man sweating bullets and even I felt like I was immersed in humidity the entire time. They need mucho fans or to crank up the a/c, I know that it's winter outside, but it should never be warm instead a gym. :Equipment: -the workout mats are flat...they also leave a nice 'behind' imprint if you sit on them for a moment. They are not comfortable for doing push ups and there's not room for more than 3 people to have ample space to work out. I felt like everybody in the room could see me floundering around on my mat. -The ellipticals and bikes are nice, they are not top of the line ,but they'll do. -I tried all of the weight machines, and they were well maintained. -There's one shower inside of the bathroom, it's nice and it feels fancy, but it feels awkward showering and knowing that somebody outside is waiting to use the facilities. There are all sorts of employee offices, but only one shower?! Who's bright idea was this? Etc. The owner was nice, if not a bit curt. I know I'm not a "high roller" of any sort, but I'm very friendly and take my workouts seriously. The staff do not acknowledge or smile at patrons, unless you're willing to fork over more dough (I imagine). I saw a disgustingly sweaty man sitting on a cotton couch...ew. How often is that couch cleaned?! Note: One of the ellipticals is right in front of a weight machine, so that my posterior is perpetually hovering above the face of the person using the machine. That was awkward. There's another location in a completely different part of Chapel Hill that has multiple showers and is less populated. Go here if you need a gym that's open 24/7.

You really CAN'T make these things up! There is only one bathroom for women and one bathroom for…read moremen. If someone is in the shower in either of the bathrooms and you have to use the 'facilities,' you're out of luck. The only class offered is yoga so if you're not into machines, free weights or yoga, you're out of luck again. I was approached yesterday the by owner, Victoria, and told not to come back because I wasn't a good fit for the establishment. She said she had received a bad review from me via the corporate survey ... THEY surveyed ME, I did not contact them to complain. She said that she wasn't making any money off of my membership because it's sponsored at a discount by my insurance company, BCBSNC. She also said I had a bad attitude and negative energy. Um, thanks?? So after I gave some thought to the conversation, I realized that she had deactivated my key fob ... waited for me to enter the gym with a friend ... escorted me to her office ... and proceeded to read me the riot act. It's unbelievable that corporate would reveal the identity of a client's survey and it's equally unbelievable that the owner would even mention it. Awful customer service - to say the least. She never once asked how we could work things out or what the gym could differently to offer variety. It was just truly an awful experience all the way around. Won't miss it there one bit.

I found this gym in January and out of curiosity, I decided to sign up for their Bootcamp deal,…read moresince it was only 50 for the first month. I was returning to working out following an injury, and during that first class Morgan was super accommodating and showed me how to do all of the movements properly, ensuring I was comfortable and getting a good workout. The first class was so fantastic, I decided to sign my mom up. Almost three months later, we have each lost 15 lbs, gotten a hell of a lot stronger, and gained confidence in the gym. I've switched over from the Bootcamp to the full CrossFit membership and though the barbells were intimidating, the coaches made the transition so easy. The community is incredible, every single one of the coaches are caring and knowledgeable, and this gym got my mother to go from never having worked out beyond walking to weightlifting. Definitely stop by and try it out if you can!

I was a bit skeptical to do Crossfit but this isn't your typical box they will not force you to do anything to break your back! I've been coming here since January till now and lost over 25 lbs I highly recommend this box! All the coaches are extremely supportive! Every workout is scaleable and not once did I felt judged for doing something wrong or not putting weights on the bar! It might look like a small box but cf CrossFit is very well equipped!!!Do it now, your future self will thank you!

Wish I lived closer to go more often! Since I'm just far enough away I've done some sporadic drop…read morein classes. I really like how the class is structured with 20 minutes of spin, 20 minutes of strength training, and 20 minutes of yoga. The spin portion is motivating with good music and your name shows up on a screen with your optimal power zone so you can continuously push yourself. No one knows who is who unless you know someone's name ;) And everyone's is different to cater towards your level! Since it's only 20 minutes not many people wear clip in shoes - but you can! The strength training portion is always different. Sometimes it's weights, straps, or even slam balls. I really like that the exercises are also shown on screens throughout the strength training area - so you won't forget what you need to do right after the instructor goes through everything. It also gives the countdowns so you know how much time is left for each exercise. The yoga is the part that's a little hit or miss for me. Sometimes it is sooo incredibly fast and I don't feel like I can keep up. And then sometimes it's just right.

Great employees too!

The Sweat Lab is awesome! You will dance, you will drop it low, you will shake it, you will flex it…read moreand most of all you will SWEAT! The instructors are not only fun and spirited, they push you to keep going whether your cycling, holding a plank or doing repetitive arms. I appreciate the challenge in the classes as well as the different studio wide challenges that they encourage everyone to partake in! I also appreciate how welcoming and personable everyone! Thanks Sweat Lab!

Even after coming to new hope commons for years I am only just finding this hole in the wall!…read more I did the Sculpt class with Bridget and boy was it tough. It was a full body work out in 50 mins and I think it was pretty fast paced but got in some burns. I think my preference would be slower paced work outs but the choreography was interesting and made sense for a full body session! The place is a little hard to find but thankfully I followed others who were in fitness clothes and made my way upstairs ok. The studio used was clean and I loved that all of our supplies were set out with a mat all ready to go. I do wish the classes orientation (the room itself) wasn't so narrow and long as it was hard to see the instructors movements around other people but she did her best to go on each side of the room for the exercises and did them all with us which was also nice. Can't speak on price since I found this place through class pass but I do think if you are looking for a hard, fast paced, heart rate up, and well rounded class this one was a good one
