Walking into this location feels less like a gym and more like a guided tour…read more Exhibit A -- Cardio Hall. Here we observe machines at least three generations behind what's running at other Equinox clubs. Remarkably well preserved. Please do not touch. Exhibit B -- The Palette. Yellowed satin white with pale blue painted accents. The palette follows conventions of the historical period; artisans remain unidentified. Reads Bay Club, not Equinox. Exhibit C -- Storage. This is how early humans secured their belongings: you brought a lock from home. Those who arrived without one -- as I did -- left the door open and trusted in God. Other Equinox locations have at least advanced to the rotating dial. Fifteen years ago my hometown gym opened lockers with a fingertip. Three years ago, with a face. Now, seriously -- none of this is hard to fix, and all of it is below the standard the brand charges for: 1. Cardio. A refresh is one request to headquarters away. Ask. 2. Paint. Reset to a clean pure white. Swap the blue accent for acoustic wood slat panels -- vertical battens on a black backing. Low cost, immediate lift, and it's the current Equinox language. 3. Lockers. Change the locks. Bring-your-own-padlock isn't acceptable at this price point. Keypad or RFID at minimum. Credit where it's due: the staff were friendly and respectful throughout, and I was here only as a visitor. But as it stands, this isn't a club I'd want as my home gym. Hopefully they've made some changes by the next time I'm in the area.

I started with Weight Watchers lost 30 pounds then I hit a plateau. I needed the gym. I needed a trainer. I was just recovering from a knee injury that made me immobile for over a month. I couldn't put a lot of pressure on it. I was given a trainer that was very good. The next time I went I was given another trainer who was a better fit for me. Anthony is personable, funny, Very dedicated, knowledgeable in fitness and extremely good at what he does. He started working around my knee Imjury and made my knee stronger. When I had my days, where I wasn't feeling it, he made it fun with a great mindset. He pushed me in a way that I could handle! Also gave me knowledge on what I could eat and what I shouldn't. I had training 3 days a week for almost six months and I've continued to go ever since.. i've lost over hundred pounds that I had gained. Iwould highly recommend Anthony Guzman. It was the best experience I had at the gym! He made me not want to give up! And because of him, and a lot of hard work, my health has improved dramatically! I no longer have to take high blood pressure medication and my A1c went from 6.4 to 5.1 in a little over a year. I been borderline diabetic for seven years. I feel healthier than I've felt for years. It was the best decision I could have made for me! Thank you Anthony and thank you LA Fitness.

When it comes to taking classes, it's also spacious and never feels crowded I used to come here regularly, mainly because of my cardio kickboxing instructor Yumiko. She was the reason why I discovered this location in the first place. Unfortunately, she no longer teaches here, and so I've found myself going to another location to follow her classes. I still miss the cleanliness and orderly atmosphere that this location had. It's hard to find that at the other LA Fitness locations.

My kids have been coming here for years and they love it for all of the following reasons 1) food is great, yes, included and kid-friendly 2) staff are kind and experienced - for some reason a lot of psychology majors 3) fun games! watching campers versus counselors dodgeball just left me leaving with the biggest grin they swim every day which basically means it's a spring break-like pool party daily. My kids have been living it up with poolside shirley temples and fries. it's wonderful to see that there is still a place with JOY. Not about getting ahead academically, or being the most competitive athlete, but just about having good ol' fashioned fun. I hope my kids stay long enough to maybe one day be staff.

He's a really nice person and an effective swim teacher, especially for kids, but can teach both children and adults alike.

I got to enjoy beautiful views of the Pacific from their Garden Terrace and Ballroom. The Ballroom has windows that overlook the golf course and makes for a great sight of the sunset at night. It's also quite a spacious ballroom, making it perfect for large events and parties. Aside from enjoying the view, I got to enjoy a wonderful dinner here tonight. Dinner was kicked off with appetizers such as Fried Artichoke, Chicken Tostada and Coconut Shrimp. The main dinner course consisted of tender Short Rib with Roasted Potatoes and Peas. Dessert was a mini Apple Pie topped with vanilla ice cream drizzled with caramel. I enjoyed visiting Palos Verdes Golf Club very much. One thing I would note though was when I was leaving, it was quite dark. The neighborhood around doesn't have much light in the evening. I wasn't quite a fan of the dark area and I do wish there were more lights around. Other than though, this spot is a beautiful spot to visit.

The designated pickleball courts are really nice. I always feel like it was a treat every time my friends were able to reserve those courts. The tennis courts with the pickleball lines can be confusing the first time you hit on it. The tennis lines are white and the pickleball lines are black. You get used to it after a bit. But the lights here are horrible. You don't even have to hit the ball too high and the ball will get lost in the lights. And the parking here is also horrible. If you get here around 5:30-6PM, (especially if it's soccer season) good luck finding parking. People just make their own parking spots along the red zone (I'm also guilty of this). But with all that said, I'll definitely join a group session again. Especially since it's summer right now and the sun is staying out longer. I just got a new racket and I feel like I need to hit more than once a week to get my money's worth. Lol So I'll see you soon South Bay Tennis!
