C&M daycare is bright & cheerful, clean, modern, well staffed, known as the daycare of the…read morePittsburgh Pirates. The staff is attentive & caring. It follows state laws carefully. But is it right for your child? My grandson did not hit, kick or bite others, didn't call names. He just didn't always listen. He was 2 going on 3 when C&M marked him as an issue. He was very "busy", into everything. If this is your child this daycare is probably not for you. If your child is a little more active or curious, in other words, a little more "work", take note. He was this active child. (Note: he only attended 2 days a week) C& M told my daughter they needed to have him evaluated for ADHD when he was 2. My son-in-law took him to his pediatrician when they suggested there could be developmental issues. The pediatrician found him to be a busy 2-year-old. After turning 3, and after episodes of "undesirable" behavior, they again suggested 2 doctors. If they did not comply he could be expelled. They took him to one of the doctors, a pediatrician, and was told by this doctor he was "not impressed" with what he saw meaning he did not think he had ADHD, that he was typical of a boy at his age, albeit busier than most. They also were told a good evaluation couldn't be done until he was at least 4. His "undesirable behavior" continued, from trying to remove a screen from a window, trying to exit, ñthe classroom, and not always participating in class activities. Things got fast-tracked when near his 4th birthday he stopped napping. He had to sit quietly on his cot during nap time if he wasn't going to sleep.5 It was an issue because if he was out of his cot, one of the two teachers couldn't take a break as mandated by the state. His parents met with the owner and a behavioral specialist at the school, to come up with ideas to keep him occupied during nap time. This time C&M told his parents they had to take him to a child behavioral psychologist, again with the same explicit threat of expulsion. C&M provided the doctor/practice name and warned that they likely wouldn't get an appointment for 6 months. In the interim, my grandson had his 4-year well-child visit. My daughter told the pediatrician what had been going on. She asked my daughter which daycare he attended. My daughter was shocked to find out the pediatrician had considered sending her child there, but after having received so many behavior evaluation requests from parents whose children went there she decided against it. The parents then were told that C&M was not the place for my grandson, that they hadn't done what was recommended and failed to keep C&M up to date on what was being done. Note that my daughter had just delivered a new baby (they probably were a little busy, right?). They further accused my daughter and her husband of speaking badly of the daycare, but wouldn't say who accused them. They were shocked to hear this. Essentially they expelled him because his parents supposedly talked badly about them. Even though his parents kept the appointment with the psychologist the psychologist was bewildered as to why they were there as he did not specialize in ADHD but autism. His ruling: My grandson definitely is not autistic. He has some ADHD characteristics but at his young age it is difficult to diagnose. He can be re-evaluated when he is older, like 6. He now attends a Christian daycare and is doing very well. He is not labeld. They simply re-direct & work with him. He is at a place where children are not problems, but blessings. Update: after this review, my daughter received a letter from C&M's attorney threatening a lawsuit if I did not take it down within a week because of inaccuracies/misinformation. When asked for what inaccuracies/misinformation were in the review it has been over a month with no answer. They took very little time responding to my post but very slow in the follow up so I am going to assumew, after a month have still not heard., the letter was a tactic they used to handle a partly negative post.

There is a large room, divided in two. One side had tables set up, the other was free rein for kids to jump on a trampoline or bounce house along with many other toys. Something for all ages. We don't attend this daycare but it looks like a great place. The staff was nice and very helpful. Plates, silverware, napkins and tablecloths were all included.

Their commitment to providing the safest environment during COVD19 allowed our kids to get that important last year of peer engagement to prepare for K, without any closures for illness. I went and toured and was told to let them know as soon as possible about my interest. The very next day I emailed with some questions and how to get enrollment started. It's been 2 weeks and countless emails and phone calls from both me and my husband and not a single person has gotten back to us. It is extremely unprofessional and I am beyond angry that it is so difficult to get even a single response. I hate to say it but this alone makes me not want to enroll my child here. How can I justify spending the money on a place that can't even respond to a call or email?

Our Toddler floor's Supervisor has been with our program for the past 3 years and each Toddler teacher has completed either their second year with our program, or they are finishing their first year with our program. They have a great team working together. Our Preschool floor has 2 teachers in our 3 year old classroom that have been with our program for the past 8 years. Our Prekindergarten program is lead by one of our strongest teachers who has been committed to our program for the past 5 years. In addition, our Prekindergarten program has a very dedicated teacher to our program who has been working with us for the past 10 years. Our Private Kindergarten Program is lead by our Teacher who has been with us for the past 10 years as well. She has committed herself to designing our curriculum, educating our teachers, and leading in program development. We are extremely fortunate to have the longevity that is present at ABC's For Children. To watch your children and family grow over the years as we care for the children in our classrooms is an amazing privilege that these teachers do not take lightly. Cara was very understanding and sent us pictures and plenty of updates on her first day. This daycare does more than just watch your child, they do learning through play! The kids get to go outside to garden and play with water. They even have an indoor playground (which is insanely amazing) for when the weather is bad. They helped make a Father's Day card/ mug for my husband which was a wonderful surprise! They're flexible with either part-time or full-time and the prices are the best you can find in the area! I arrived to find the building very secure, being on Fifth Ave,can be of some concern. The director pointed out that all entrances require special admittance and there are two windows, only, in the gym, which are also safely closed. I met with Brian, Director/owner. He was extremely knowledgeable (as he should be), well spoken, and able to put me at ease in several instances. We spent at least 30 minutes discussing the curriculum, which I am extremely impressed with. I don't want just a babysitter, especially at such a high price. I asked what a typical day is like for the two year olds, and he was quick to point out, that every day has the same schedule, which it is important for toddlers to have continuity. We reviewed my particular needs, and Brian explained that my requirements were out of their ordinary, but he would make it work. As we proceeded to the "gym", Brian described the cleaning procedures of the school. Strict attention is taken to prevent spread of germs. But I have to tell you, I was amazed at this activity area, WOW. Large, appears safe, and decorated to the Pittsburgh area, including points of interest, historic sites, and sports teams. This is important to me, because I want my grandson to be familiar with his roots. We visited the classrooms, but unfortunately it was nap time. I do want to point out that this is a school, with education and growth in mind. Brian appeared "compassionate ", which is also important for children of any age. Brian answered every question I had, and never made me feel pushed, or in a hurry, despite that, I later found out, he had another tour, right after mine. I have to say, that my grandson is presently in a program that I am not completely comfortable with. This of course helped me to ask certain questions. Even though i haven't yet experienced the actual intervention, I am looking forward to enrolling my grandson in the program and continuing to watch him grow. Everyone that works here is extremely kind and professional, my daughter loves all of her teachers and always has a big smile for them. The facility is bright, clean, and there are so many amenities for the children (I mean seriously, there's a climbing wall for little kids!). I'm not ashamed to admit that I wish that I could play here all day rather than work. It is very expensive but in my experience, you get what you pay for and this is absolutely worth every cent.

The camp facility is amazing and is located on a beautiful, expansive piece of land. The program is very well run, from the orientation, to the open house, to the bus schedules, to the regular updates etc. The counselors have been so kind to my child, and reached out regularly to update us on how things are going at camp, and reached out again to check in after my kid was sick. My child has improved a lot in terms of swimming. We will be coming back in the years to come.

I called the school to get information about enrollment, etc. The lady who I spoke to provided details on enrollment and explained how the school works, what's offered, etc. She said she would e-mail me more information, which she did. We tried to coordinate a tour and, with a few back and forth e-mails regarding availability, it became radio silence. I followed up a couple of times and heard nothing so I let it be since my child was not yet of the age for Montessori. Fast forward many months later when I called again to try and obtain the same. The same lady said she will e-mail the details. I received NO e-mail. I didn't bother following up given my initial contact with the school and having been dismissed and now the second contact and being dismissed...again. At this point I wondered if there was a very specific reason for my being dismissed. We'll leave it at that. Based on my experience in trying to just get enrollment information and how the admin functions, I wouldn't, and did not, send my child.

I feel that my children are getting a wonderful education - not just in academics, but also in conflict resolution and other life skills. They work at their own pace, which is great when they are excelling in one area, but struggling in another. They never feel left behind. Most importantly, when there are issues, I feel like the teachers work with the parents to figure out a resolution. I've never sat in a meeting and someone ask me how I was going to fix my child's behaviors. It truly is a community of students, faculty, and parents working together. We love it!
