Found this place through a basic search since I was in the area and had no idea what to expect. It has a nice ambiance, I was greeted immediately and while they were busy, it wasn't a long wait. Tony did a great job. He was meticulous and chatty at times but quiet when he could sense I wanted to zone out. He did take a little longer but his attention to detail was worth it. I've never got a pedicure here before but I always get my acrylic nails removed here and they do a great job so I decided to go here with my boyfriend this morning. The nail tech didn't do a horrible job.. it just wasn't worth $35. We got the most simplistic pedicure and neither of us got the feet or calf massage that it mentions in the description ( photo attached below ) and my nail tech didn't even file my nails... It just kind of felt like a lazy job so it really isn't a wonder why the pedicure side was empty and the manicure side was almost full in the establishment. If you're looking for a mediocre pedicure then this would be the place. My nail tech didn't even have me sit under the heat lamps and have my feet dry afterwards.. Anh was amazing and when she was applying the color I wanted (a glittery red color) she noticed it didn't look right and before she even moved on to another finger asked me what I thought and we ended licking this beautiful maroon color for me. Nice looking out Anh! She was great company and even got me a mimosa for it all! This was my first time but it won't be the last! I think I just found my new nail place! Had the absolute worst manicure of my life. I know nail salons can be hit or miss, but GOOD lord!! STAY AWAY from this place. The nail tech did the most half assed filing, didn't even ask me what shape I wanted them. Every nail is a different shape than the others. The "hand massage" was pathetic and basically non existent. They didn't have me wash my hands during it so I left with a bunch of thick gunk from filing underneath my nails. My cuticles bled from how careless she was on multiple fingers. The space itself is messy and hot inside. Decent selection of polish colors but nothing good to say otherwise. Can't imagine how they got any good reviews. Stay away from here!!!! read more

I loved coming here but my recent gel manicure was pretty bad. I had on sns before and took it off weeks ago but still had some pieces left. My grievance with Austin nail salons is that I wish they would save the money they use to provide alcoholic drinks and apply it to better their services instead. Don't offer mimosas. Give me a massage while I dry my nails instead. So here's my review of SoCo: The good: the space is clean, open, and the nail polish is new and organized. They take their time and do a good job. The bad: the loud music. If I wanted to feel like I was in a club I would go to a club. I don't need EDM blasting from the speakers when I'm trying to relax. The ugly: I went in for a pedicure and Brazilian wax. The waxing lady gave my lady parts a hair cut, waxed a bit around the sides, and said she was done. Maybe she doesn't know that Brazilian means ALL OFF? They charged me for a Brazilian nonetheless. I brought this up with management a few weeks later and all they could do was give me 10% off my pedicure that day. read more

Unlike most nail salons that keep it on the cooking or home design TV channels, this place plays entertaining, different shows like the DIY show on PBS or funny internet clips. I have been using this salon since I moved to Austin 12 years ago and typically they do a great job, but the last time I went they were pretty busy and I ended up having about 3 people work on my nails from start to finish and i was not satisfied with the results. Overall, I like the look of my nails. However, that doesn't make up for the rest of my review. I walked in without an appointment and was seated right away. The inside of the shop was really cute and seeing the foot traffic of other guests made me assume I'd really enjoy the experience. The nail tech began by hacking away at my cuticles without soaking my hands or doing anything else to help soften the skin. This caused some discomfort. She began before it dawned on me that she has taken the cuticle cutter right out of the drawer, not a sanitary package that denoted it had been cleaned, sanitized, or sterized before she started. She threw it right back in the drawer when she finished. The same goes for the manual nail buffer and mail file. I've never had a dip manicure before. She buffed my nails with an electric finger buffer which led my fingers to be sore. She kept hitting the skin around my nails, which was already sore from the dry cuticle cutting. Now, I tend to be forgiving with a nick here or there because I understand that those things happen, but I was pretty uncomfortable. Then we get down to the dipping which was fine. Then she used a UV light to set the nails. My understanding of SNS is that UV lights are not used. I don't know how this will effect the manicure as the days go on. I picked a shiny holographic color and was informed before she placed it on my nails that that specific color was $15 more. I was disappointed because my old nail salon in another state did not charge more for a cool funky color, but because I didn't know much about SNS and if adding a shimmer would be more work, I went with it. Plus I liked the color. I left the salon with the aforementioned sore fingers and a considerable amount of hang nails and dry skin around my fingers. That was a big part of my disappointment because I wanted my hands to be cleaned up and manicured. My low review is mainly for the sanitation purposes. If my fingers are being cut, then who knows who else's fingers have been cut with the same tool. I'm hoping my fingers don't get infected. I wanted to like this salon because without the shiny color, the manicure was $40 and in a convenient location, but sanitation is so so important. read more

I had the worst experience here. I got a regular manicure + pedicure. First of all, they don't have nail dryers - what nail salon doesn't have a place where you can dry your nails?! It caused me to damage 2 of my nails while trying leave the salon. When I got a pedicure, she was talking to someone who was standing over her and not paying attention while she was removing my callus and scrapped so far down it hit my raw skin, plus it just wasn't relaxing to have someone having a loud conversation while you're trying to chill out. Then she yanked out an ingrown toenail which I definitely didn't have. Some of the pedicure tools dropped on the floor then she just rinsed them off in the tub. The nail tech was extremely rude to me each time I chose a new color that they no longer carried from their color samples. I was brought to the back and told to find the polish myself (as if the it was my fault). My nails were done in a hurry and very sloppy (nail polish all over my fingers). So disappointing.
