I came in for a mani pedi with gel polish. The pedi is fine, nothing especially good or bad, but this manicure y'all. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I reminded them I did want my nails painted not just natural there was a big discussion and the nail tech that was halfway done with my manicure was swapped out for someone else.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I do have short nails, but regardless of nail length my cuticles look horrible and ragged. She kept applying gel polish in a way that got all over my skin and cuticles and didn't even make sure it was off before curing. This was really careless and unprofessional. If you can't give a good, basic manicure you shouldn't offer them. read more

When I visited the salon, I thought it was great. However, the day after I got my GEL pedicure ($70) one of my toenail polish came off. I did not have time to get it fixed and within a week of getting them done, 4 of toes do not have paint on them. I've been going to SoCo Nails religiously for the past five months since moving from NYC and have always seen Vanna, who does an excellent job. Unfortunately, today's experience was horrific. The nail technician shaped my nails unevenly, and the polish was applied poorly and unevenly. I specifically asked for square nails, but she didn't shape them correctly and didn't cut my cuticles despite my request. When I pointed out that the shape was wrong, she tried to fix it and ended up cutting one nail, making it worse. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I left the salon and called the salon manager/owner, Quang, that I didn't feel I should pay for a service that was poorly done and didn't include a manicure, his response was, "It was a waste of my nail technician's time."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Completely unprofessional. I really want to like this place! It's clean, they have many color choices, but I'm 2/4 on my nails turning out poorly. I asked for a light gray dip with tips - picked out a color, it turned out to be a totally different color so they tried to make a light gray and the nails turned out horrible. You would think these nails are acrylics but how bumpy the nail looks - it's actually dip that they put 2 coats of gel on top to get the right color... My go to for french tip dip! I come here quite frequently & every time i've gone, i've absolutely loved the results! I just recently took a trip for 3 weeks, and the dip stayed on the entire time (obviously grown out and needed to be re-done), but I was just shocked nothing had chipped that whole entire time! I will say, sometimes the wait times are extremely long. You'll get told to sit down at a specific number, thinking you'll get immediately helped, but may be waiting for another 20 minutes. I have been there several times for manicures and pedicures some times brining my significant other with me. Service is lacking since when I first started going. It's more about quantity than quality. Also if you can't do what I ask just tell me than trying it and having to redo it which looks better but not by much.... Polish is uneven, has bubbles, no hand massage with manicure. Also the huffing and puffing when I see a mistake and ask for it to be fixed. When asked did I like my nails, I mentioned the uneven and bumps and was told and have a nice day by the lady at the counter. Did you know they moved? To the plaza just a block over... the shop there is super cute , fun decor- they strive to do good, happy greeting-- but they are slow. Sometimes slow is good, I know... but sometimes it's just slow... I think they need more personnel, and since they just expanded I bet they will get more, so I am optimistic that they will go up in stars too. We got a regular manicure ($15) and my daughter got her acrylics off ($10 and it hurt) and then a regular mani as well... and it took close to 3 hours. UPDATE: I spoke with the owner, he sounded very apologetic and was open to discussing a solution. Updating my review from 1 star to 3 stars because of his willingness to correct the issues. Will not return and will not recommend to anyone. We made a reservation for a party of 5 and we all had crappy outcomes in various ways. I got the reg pedicure with regular polish and DIP nails; total was about $94 with tip. The pedicure: she cut the nails with super sharp corners that I had to keep asking her to file down. Then with the first nail/first coat I noticed it was super clear looking (glitter color) so we decided to put an undercoat color on first. But instead of removing the first layer, she simply painted over it making it look bumpy. I mentioned it to her and she proceeded to put more on (making it thicker) but I felt bad because I already asked her about it and plus having to refile the sharp corners so I said it's okay. I asked at the end of everything if my toenails were dry and good to go since I knew how thick it was, the lady said it's fine and put nail oil on top of it. I purposely wore sandals so it had extra time to dry BUT 7/10 of my toe nails smudged off within 2 hours of leaving the place. WTF. The DIP/hands: I usually get my nails done so I know how it should be done but she did not care for how it turned out. I also got a cut on my skin and it was bleeding- she says sorry and that she'll put something on it LATER and didn't even attempted to clean it. I had to tell her to stop and to clean it first before moving on. There was chunky pieces of the powder glued onto my skin near the sides and under the nails, she barely did anything to remove it. On top of all of this, one of our friends is Vietnamese and speak/understands the workers- she said one of the workers talked nonstop trash about their customers and were rude as fck in their own language. Only 2/5 of us were offered their complimentary drinks the rest were ignored. We still left tips because we were thankful that they were able to accommodate our party size of 5 at the same time but all of us agrees that it was a sucky experience, our nails are all crappy so we're getting them redone, and do not recommend it. read more

First time here review- came in right away was greeted, what kind of service would I like then pick a color. Then I sat down and just waited ... was not sure what was going on but about 5 mins later was asked to come take a seat... then that's all... they filled the water (with almost freezing water) didn't turn the jacuzzi part on so just cold water and turns out my chair was broke. The massage worked but apparently couldn't be moved back and fourth so I was laid completely back the whole time. Not really what I would have chosen for myself. So by now (about 15 mins) I've taken my feet out of the cold water and waiting.....30 mins later in the cold water... someone came, asked if I wanted something to drink.. yay got a drink now and sitting in the cold water. Okay 35 mins, someone has came. I asked her for warmer water and she started the pedi. At no point has anyone asked me which type of pedi I would like nor did they give me the little menu like they gave others. SO I guess I will be getting whatever they give me. Mid point - what I have noticed it is soooo unbelievably loud in here. This is not peaceful. I have head phones in and watching a video but can still here everyone it's just so loud. Finally done 1 1/2 hours later for the basic pedi. Cost 30$ Would say they seemed busy, but would there have been better service if it was less busy? Doubt it. You can call and make an appointment but they dont actually track them, I made an appointment and still had to wait 30 minutes. I went to soco nails for years because they have unique chrome colors. the staff randomly add extra charges when Michael is not there such as $5 long nails. I've never paid that price and have had the same length for years. the staff are also not very friendly. Be prepared for them to speak negatively about you if you make a complaint. I got my nails done on a Thursday, it's very difficult for me to find times to get my nails done that aren't peak hours but I got chrome nails, like I always do. There were two other girls getting chrome nails and I overheard Michael telling the girls not to worry if they chip (because they were in sports) and to just come back and they will fix it no charge. That it what they always do. The nails cost at least $70. My nails chipped the next day and I did not have time to get them fixed until Saturday. I walked in and a lady said to come back on Monday because they are too busy. I did not have time to come back until Wednesday. By then, the nails chipped even more. When I walked in, I explained what happened and they attempted to charge me $15 to fix the nail. They were incredibly rude and hostile. I won't be returning here. There are many friendly, professional nail salons nearby who do excellent work. The work here is not worth the disrespect. read more

Do not recommend! My friend took me here & the girl who did my nails rushed through. I'm a mother, I had things I needed to do, so after I examined the nails & went back to get them fixed they made me feel as if I was being too difficult or trying to cheat them out of something. When In reality if the person who did them, had done them right I wouldn't have to come back at all in the first place. They were even worse before. Do these look like $60.00 nails to you? I have had people do a better job 8 years ago when nails were $20.00 for a full set. I went in to get my nails done before an out of town event. It wasn't cheap because I knowingly added a lot of extras to my gel manicure. The nails chipped within 1 day, before I even got to my event. I called to ask for a partial refund so I could get them fixed in Nevada (where I was for my event). After being told several times "I'm not a manager so I can't do anything about it, and I can't give you a manager's number", they eventually put me on the phone with the nail tech that did my manicure. She guilted me about asking for a partial refund, saying that it will affect her livelihood. She also told me "I told you that these nails were very delicate and you still asked for them." I never once have heard that gel nails are delicate lol. I finally was offered either 50% refund or 100% store credit. I appreciate the eventual refund. I would've gone with the store credit if it had not been such an ordeal to get this fixed, but I don't want to return there and deal with this customer service again. read more

Their receptionist is always so sweet and welcoming. They close at 5:30 PM on Sunday's but I'm sitting here writing this updated review at 6:22 PM while they finish my services. All I ask is that my nails last (since I have limited time between when I can come back for my nail services), they look pretty and it's all delivered at a reasonable price. I'm extremely disappointed with service I've recently received. After having a manicure with dip powder done I had to return four days in a row to have nails replaced. When I complained about the inconvenience I was told after the second return I should have requested a full set and that they don't mind fixing them. My reply was no, a new full set should have been offered and I mind being inconvenienced and having to return. I understand things may happen but what I can't tolerate is subpar customer service. This place is AHMAAAZING hunny. It feels clean and there was no wait for a chair. Modern furnishings abound and it doesn't feel cheap or like you've walked into the 80s. Chairs were new and very comfy. If you're gonna go, get the deluxe pedi because you get to pick the scent and the leg massage was HEAVEN. I also did the SNS nails instead of gel, first time so I'll have to see how it does. I usually get my eyebrows threaded but I dread it because of the pain but I endure because waxing ten years ago did me dirty. This was my first time trying Soco Nails Spa but based on their yelp reviews and low prices I figured I would try it. Their gel nails were only $35 & pedicure was $25 if I remember correctly. The pedicure was so wonderful and relaxing and really had all the works, as well as a wonderful leg and foot massage included that was probably 10-15 minutes long. The staff was so kind and managed to get me in without an appointment despite the fact that they were very busy. There were clearly some regulars there and they still took the time to be friendly and make me feel welcome! The place was very nice and clean which is usually my biggest concern at a nail salon but it was in tip top shape with a high-end vibe (see photo for an idea) , especially for a salon with their prices!! They had so many color choices and designs, the prices were so affordable compared to other Austin places, and the staff was so kind in a clean and comfortable environment!! This young lady that did my toes seem annoyed that she had to stop painting her nails to attend me, besides her eye rolling and putting steamy hot water for my pedicure she was just ignoring what I was saying. When it came to filing my nails she was so rough she cut my cuticles and skin was badly cut i wish I can show a better picture how bad this was also the color was nice in picture must be the quality of iPhone photos but it was just awful and patchy. I still had the ingrown nail and message just lasted literally 4 min Update: i had the owner contact me and apologized for one of his employees mishap and offered to fix my polish that look like a mess, so I went in today everyone was very friendly and I had Zuli do my pedicure well fix it she gladly did so She basically redid it since it all looked patch I'm so happy with the result of how amazing it looks. That first time I went made me not want to come back, but after today I'm going to make sure I don't leave any salon without pinpointing these type of mistakes. Would I recommend it yes ! I've been here several times before. They always have a wait, which is good sign. The last few visits I've made an appointment, and they still usually get to me 20-30 minutes late. Today was no different. It should be known that I'm a terrible nail biter. I usually request the same person for that reason because their nails always stay on and my natural nails get a chance to grow. Last time I got a different person, and the nails were falling off within a week. Keep in mind, I had natural nails by this time and didn't require tips. I only have the budget to get my nails done once a month, so by the time (today) I had a chance to come back, I had nervously chewed my nails back down because instead of lasting a month, they had all chipped off. Add this to the fact that I just found out a close friend died and I'd be traveling back home to her funeral, I was looking forward to some nail therapy. I arrived early because I know they don't actually make appointments in any book, and I was hoping my tech would be open, she wasn't and that's ok. I began playing on my phone, but After 20 minutes PAST my actual appointment time I was starting to wonder. My tech came over to me, glanced at my mails, then said "your nails are too short. You need acrylics not dip. I don't do acrylics." Then they went back to the other customer. I was looking around confused and another employee had to tell me they would get someone else, and to pick a color. At this point I had been there 45 minutes. I could have already been almost out the door if someone had actually addressed me at my appointment time, or earlier. If my tech was going to be unavailable, someone else could have helped me sooner. How much longer would I now have to wait for a different person to be available? Also, this very tech has done my dip nails when my nails were at their shortest, but today she's unable? It was a bad experience and it made my crappy week even crappier.
