I know this cost extra, but I was just so thrilled about them doing everything they could for her. If you are going to own a pet, you cannot cry about the bill. All of them are exemplars of compassion and competence. The staff is also wonderful, and never have any of them been impatient or anything but courteous. Half the year my husband and I live in New Orleans and while my vet at the Cat Practice is lovely, care there is much more expensive. The prices the 85 year old lady quoted are reasonable, expecially considering she wanted her cat that had never been seen before, to get emergency service. You couldn't call a pediatrician off hours to see your child who had never seen him/her before; if it's really an emergency then you take them to the emergency room. Sorry; I'm feeling a bit indignant anyone would demean my beloved vets and staff!

Dr.Funk gave me lab results on my cat and she has stage 2 kidney disease. I received nothing but…read moremixed messages from him.Never a straight answer. From food amounts to my cats blood counts were up but she could relapse at any time.No hope there! My cat had a temperature of 104 and I wanted to put her on antibiotics and he said there's nothing we can do! I ended up taking her to the emergency vet and they tested her for several things and said her blood counts were good and put her on an antibiotic. Her fever went down in a day and she's playing today. She could have died from that itself. No vet or practitioner knows my cat more than I do! I was not heard when I said she needs antibiotic.Thats sad! Where's your empathy? My cat cuddles should have never been put through that! I know she is a fighter and not ready to leave us yet from going through that. My only hope is that doctors and practioners and everyone who works for them starts listening to the owners! I want full explanations -- delivered…read moreas it would be to a colleague; one sniff of being rough, lacking genuine empathy, or otherwise failing to meet my sometimes-unrealistic expectations, and I'm researching other vets. My family has brought their animal-people to Countryside for decades now, and my dad and I have made our puppy the newest Dr. Tripp patient. I haven't encountered a single thing that rubbed me wrong. They care and they prove it through their high standard of dedicated care. I didn't feel like human chattel, either. Dr. Tripp still shares stories about my mom bringing the dogs in; they actually get to know you and your pets. So yes, I can confidently recommend the Countryside team. I've heard their prices are also lower than many in the area but I don't know that firsthand. Good people.

And no extra charge. They are not all about the money, they really want what's best for your pet. I've read a couple of the bad reviews here... if you're mad about the way they trim your dogs nails, COMMUNICATE with them about the best position for your dog to be calm and still have a nail trim. If you're upset about your cat not getting treatment because you cant afford to pay your bill, PAY YOUR BILL or go somewhere that has a payment plan for you. You wouldn't want to go to work and not receive payment now would you?

It's unfortunate that the secretaries are so rude, because the vets and vet techs are wonderful…read more The first time I called the secretary sounded like they didn't want to schedule my pet and were trying to get me to take it to an emergency vet when they had never even seen my pet, and my pet was not in an emergency situation. I called another time and specifically said I was calling about euthanasia for my cat, and then when I was answering the ladies questions., She cut me off and said, I'm not trying to cut you off but what do you need from me because I have someone else on the other line. Not very compassionate when I was already upset about possibly having to put my cat down. Then most recently I called to let them know that I couldn't catch my cat for the appointment, and the lady said., OH, weeell... that was an extended appointment so that might have a fee attached. Her snarky tone sounded like I had done something wrong, and I told her it's common for people to not be able to catch some cats who get scared about going to the vet. And I said I didn't know anything about the extended appointment or any fee. She again said in a snarky tone that it's in all the paperwork and all over their website. I just looked on their website, and I see nothing there about a Fee. It may be under one of the line tabs, but that feature is currently not working. she hung up on me when I said something to her about her rudeness, and when I called back and asked if she could have a vet call me back, she said no, that she is not going to have a vet call me over something like this. she also told me that if I wasn't happy there that I should go back to the place where I was going. What secretary is allowed to say no that they aren't going to give a message to the vet?! this lady seems to way overstep her role and I think she loses clients for the business. Look at the other Google reviews that talk about the rude secretaries. This is sad to me because I really liked both vets. They and wonderful and spent good time listening about my pets

My dog had a treatment to 'cleanse' and it was hoped this would in some way help his kidneys. He had to stay there for 2 nights but I wasn't allowed to visit him. ( I learned later that the female vet did not want me there because I was too emotional.) I didn't like this but I did it to help my dog. When I picked him up he wanted nothing to do with me -- he thought I abandoned him! He lived, not very well, for another six weeks and I never brought another animal there.

We had a routine exam scheduled for him at Mellett, but we were able to move it up so little Beans could be seen the day after he displayed symptoms. Dr. Sara was extremely thorough and the entire staff was so very kind to me as I was emotional and anxious about my little guy's health. Four weeks after his Beans' first visit, my OG Shih Tzu had his annual with Dr. Sara. As the appointment approached it was clear to me that my sweet, newly adopted senior dog, Beans, was struggling to turn the corner from the vestibular episode and put on weight, regain his hearty appetite and regain his energy. I called Mellet and asked if Beans could be seen when I brought in my other Tzu and explained I may be having a quality of life discussion. Again, I was met with kindness and compassion as we scheduled the additional time. On the day of the appointment we were escorted to our exam room and our vet tech asked lots of questions and I shared a quality of life checklist I found online to help me evaluate Beans' overall health and well being. When Dr. Sara joined us we had a very detailed and caring discussion about sweet Beans and his overall health and status. Dr. Sara suspected cancer and said 'we can run several different tests to determine what kind or where, but the outcome for Beans will likely be the same'. I lost my first Tzu to pancreatic cancer six years ago and recognized similar symptoms in Beans and knew he didn't have long. Dr. Sara was compassionate and supportive as we discussed when I might want to say farewell to sweet Beans - I ultimately decided that it was best to let him cross the rainbow bridge that day. He had a good day with a little more energy and a slightly increased appetite and I wanted to remember those positive moments. Dr. Sara and our tech were so wonderful to me and to Beans as we eased him to his next chapter. I was also given space and time to consider next steps and to talk with my partner who could not join me for the appointment. My OG Tzu, Leo, received his annual shots and health exam from Dr. Sara during this same appointment and they were so good to him during his time as well. We couldn't have asked for a more supportive, patient and kind experience. 1-2 weeks after our appointment I received Beans' paw print and nose print with a lovely card signed by the entire staff. It was a wonderful gesture that reassured me that I made the right choice in selecting Mellet and Dr. Sara.

The one thing I will always regret - Is bringing my dog to Mellett Animal Hospital and trusting…read moreJoseph H. Keller III, to take care of my Xena. I can't call him a doctor - because of the way he treated her and abandoned her, when she needed help the most! First - Keller misdiagnosed my Xena, he let her live with cancer for 5+ years while she was in his care. He was explaining the growing lumps on her body as normal: fat tissue, build up tissue due to her aging (in his words).. etc. Second - when she started growing lumps in the breast area, a surgery needed to be performed. He recommended removing only one lump on her breast - because the rest of the lumps were "nothing to worry about" ,as he said. I insisted 3 biggest ones to be removed! The biopsy showed all 3 were cancerous tumors! After taking Xena to an oncologist, report showed that all the lumps on her body were cancerous tumors (at least 5 more). The report also showed that the surgery performed by Joseph Keller - was not done properly and needed to be redone!! All of these reports were sent to Mellett Animal Hospital. After that, when I tried to contact them - they were rude and were constantly lying to me that Keller will return my call. He never did call back! They just stop all communication, without a single word of explanation. They just dropped a cancer patient, because Joseph Keller couldn't face me - after all he did to Xena! My Xena would have died from cancer, if I didn't take her to a different Vet Clinic!! Stay away from this place!!!!!
