Chef Lucy offers classes at D&G occasions and this review is regarding that experience: I took the "Introduction to Cake Decorating" course which was pretty intimate with only 7 students and chef Lucy as the instructor so I felt you get plenty of time with her one-on-one to ask questions and get help. There was a mix of people who have never even iced or baked a cake before (me) and people who have started their own cake businesses on the side (most of the others). What I loved is that you get step by step instruction, a demonstration before starting on your own, and troubleshooting pointers which is so useful for when you're back home and face issues (I'll prob just stick to baking in class though). Chef Lucy is so sweet and so patient (honestly having to repeat yourself so many times would drive me insane so I commend her). I would recommend this class to anyone! I had a great time even though I am not a professional and I plan on taking more classes with Chef Lucy in the future just because of how well she taught and how she seems to love what she does. One person in our class flew here from Turks and Caicos just to take a class taught by Chef Lucy, if that's any inclination toward how great she is! I'll be keeping her in my mind when my wedding rolls around for sure.

    Gorgeous cake!

Lucy did a stellar job on our wedding cake! Not only was it absolutely delicious, but it was gorgeous in every way. I really couldn't have asked for anything more! Lucy was so easy to work with - despite some changes we needed to make to fit our budget and match our decor (Lucy was one of our first vendors we knew we wanted even before we selected the company for our decor!). I would HIGHLY recommend her for any and all of your bakery needs!

Lucy did a fantastic job on our wedding cakes. She listened to every detail I wanted on the cake and they looked BEAUTIFUL!! She was also very responsive and timely when we needed. She was also very budget friendly. Moist cakes and designs were flawless! Wedding cakes are not the only cake we ordered from her. We also ordered an aniversary cake for my parents in-law in September and our wedding in October. That's how much I trust Lucy. Will definitely be using her again for other events! Highly recommended!!

Lucy was very personable throughout our meetings prior to the day of the wedding. Her energy made planning a wedding more exciting. I was dreading having to plan a wedding for an expected 600+ guests and didn't care much for a cake. That had changed after our first consultation meeting/ cake tasting! She allowed me to draw up a cake board and listened intently to how I had envisioned my cake for the wedding day! There was a topper that was missing on our wedding cake, but Lucy had expressed such distress about it, that we felt bad as well. She did try her best to make the best of it and our cake turned out beautifully.

My beautiful baby shower cake and cupcakes!

Chef Lucy Martin's beautiful work helped to make my baby shower magical! She was a pleasure to work with, and the gorgeous cake and cupcakes she made for our Tiffany's themed event were everything we hoped for! We were delighted by the final products, as they were impressively detailed and absolutely delicious.

We decided to go with Lucy from a recommendation from another cake designer who was busy on our wedding date. After emailing her and discussing our dream cake, we met with her. She presented us with different flavors and toppings in the cutest little box. We knew we wanted to go with Lucy because of the presentation, her ideas, and her portfolio. We decided on 3 flavors: german chocolate, chocolate ganache strawberry, and apricot amarreto. Unfortunately on the wedding day, things got so crazy that we were not able to try any of the cake. Our guests let us know that every flavor was delicious and moist! We got a quick glance of our cake and thought- wow. Today we were able to see a photo of it and it looked absolutely amazing! All the details of the lace and flowers that she put on our cake were stunning!

I couldn't have been more pleased with the gorgeous cake Lucy designed for my sister-in-law's birthday celebration. I started with the vaguest of ideas and she somehow turned them into a unique beach themed cake that was not only fun and festive but also one of the best cakes anyone had ever tasted. It was moist, flavorful and people came back for seconds. She even delivered the cake on Thanksgiving day! Lucy is now my only call when I need a fabulous statement cake!

    Here is our beautiful cake!

I cannot express in words how beautiful the cake was for our daughter's 1st birthday. Lucy understood my vision and even went above and beyond to give us something spectacular. Our guests were blown away by the cake! I would recommend Lucy and Sofelle for all your cake needs! It was a wonderful experience!

Our beautiful wedding cake by Lucy. Not to mention delicious!

The concept of the volunteer is to guide the guests & just be a kind person in their culinary journey This venue is breathtaking, the kitchen is awesome and the knowledge you gain is so worth the experience. Ever since Publix Aprons Cooking School closed, I've been looking for a cooking school that has fun adult classes. The Kitchen House has just started a monthly "book club" called Plot to Plate where they feature a book that relates to or includes recipes. This month was Lessons in Chemistry so my friends and I decided to attend. We bought our tickets in advance as classes can sell out. The classes are different prices depending on what the class is. The house is in a residential neighborhood in College Park and does not have a dedicated parking lot so I would suggest getting there early as you have to find a spot along the street. When we arrived, we were greeted and given a welcome drink, in this case Cardamom Decaf Coffee because it was cold out. One of the instructors said that normally we would walk the garden at the beginning of class and also eat outdoors but since it was cold, we were going to skip the garden and eat inside. Once everyone arrived (cooking classes can have up to 20 people), we met in the lobby to start talking about different themes of the book. Then it was time to wash up and go to the kitchen. All the ingredients were set out for us and we picked the Veggie Pot Pie table with other attendees. The instructor gave us some knife skills lessons and then we all started cooking, using the recipes at our station. Each station makes one recipe so you don't get to make everything. And, the instructors and volunteers don't show you how to make everything first (like Publix Aprons used to do). But, if you just dig in and start going, it is a lot of fun. We had some questions along the way, like is there a spatula we can use? Or, is this the flour or the cornstarch? The volunteers were great and answered everything in a friendly way. As it said you could do in the welcome email we received before the class, some folks brought their own wine and the Kitchen House provided glasses and would pour for you. I think if we go back, we would definitely bring our own wine. My friends and I made the drop biscuits for the Veggie Pot Pie, which were surprisingly easy to make. We were finished early so we also make the Brownies for dessert that used olive oil and maple syrup instead of butter and sugar. When everyone was done cooking, we gathered in the lobby again while the volunteers cleaned and set up the table for dinner. Then, it was time to eat! Dinner was served buffet style and the Kitchen House split our food for people who had different dietary restrictions. For example, some of the recipes used non-dairy alternatives as some people in the class were lactose intolerant and one person had a mushroom allergy so they got a small spinach gallette instead of the mushroom Gallette for everyone else. As we sat down to eat, we discussed the book more in depth. Everything tasted great and we had a wonderful time. We received all the recipes in an email after the class so we could make the foods at home. I will definitely be looking at other adult classes here.

After the tour of her garden we got into and deep conversation about the proper way to stock your panty and the advantages of using organic herbs in your meals. I only had knowledge of the appetizer and was pleasantly surprised with the other three courses. Lynn's courses are great fun from beginner to advanced students. When we started preparing the meal everything was set up for us and the instructions were very prominent. Lynn is an excellent instructor and really helped my partner with her confidence in the kitchen. After we were done cooking Lynn had the table set to enjoy this wonderful and easy meal. We had more conversations about life and how she came about to start the class as well as a few more tips on making quick and healthy meals during the week. Overall I give Lynn top marks on her skills, presentation, & hospitality. From the moment we stepped foot in her home, to the time we left I felt the true warmth that you usually only receive from family. I can't wait for our next class with Lynn, which I believe will be very soon and to learn more about coking healthy meal options.
