I've got beef with Carmel Dad's Club, but I won't let that take away from the fact that this sports complex is great. See how fair I am? I am so unbelievably fair and nonpartisan. My family and I have been to Alleto for soccer games, and the fields are always very well tended and nice. During the warmer months when soccer games are going on, there's a concession stand that's open where you can get your little snacks. Recently, we were inside the indoor facility for basketball. There's also a snack bar inside, with popcorn and sodas and things. We visited at the end of the day, and popcorn was all over the floor near the bleachers, and it was kind of gross. But the basketball courts are nice. Alleto is also the location for Carmel's popular Firefighter for a Day camp, and is also the place where Carmel Dad's Club takes sports photos. I'm sure there are lots of other things that go on here, but those are the only things that I've visited Alleto for. Basically, if you live in Carmel and you have children, and those children play sports with Carmel Dad's Club, you will eventually end up visiting Alleto at some point. It's a main sports hub in Carmel.

I was really impressed by the facility and rules to keep the fields in tip-top shape. They have about 17 soccer fields for kids of all sizes. The fields are immaculate. Indoors, they have basketball, track and other facilities. The amazing amount of volunteers that they assemble is astounding. My granddaughter's parents have both volunteered so we feel like contributors. The downside to the facility is traffic flow and parking. The current system is a dangerous hot mess, with parents driving haphazardly. The addition of traffic guards helping with exiting traffics has greatly improved the safety. But the main lot still needs attention for safe traffic and pedestrian flow. Overall, great facility, amazing volunteers but needs parking revamp.

Their mercy rule is dumb. I think it teaches the wrong idea to the kids, because the 'mercy rule' doesn't exist in the real world. I had the impression that some of the referees didn't seem to care when players shove other players for no reason. Also, this organization's communication skills need some polishing. No. I don't think they draft, but whatever system they use to build teams is rather political and does not seem to have the best interest of players in mind. They used to balance out teams with ages and ability if possible. That does not seem to be the way now and it is sad because the players trying to learn the sport are the ones who suffer.

However, they have really nice sand volleyball courts. The sand is white and soft and well-kept. I don't play often, but I find it's really difficult to find nice sand volleyball courts. The Fish Bowl is the on-site cantina/watering hole. Is it top notch? Not really, but it's a spot to get a drink and hang out on a patio next to the volleyball courts. There really isn't even a door, and the whole place reminds me of bars you find in Florida near the beach. Those take a beating from the wind & salt in the air, and it seems like this place has too even without a beach, but it doesn't bother me. You can get a beer or a basic mixed drink if you want. The food options are really limited - I'm talking a sandwich and chips and maybe a burger on special. There's actually a lot of available parking on site so even with the large groups that were here in addition to normal Saturday activities, I felt like there was enough room for everyone. Honestly, if you're looking for a spot to have outdoor activities or sports, this place does the job. I don't know rental rates, but as a user of the facility, it does the job!

It can change the day before. Also, they don't have a cut-off so they keep adding kids during the middle of a season (because they accept your money for as many kids as will sign up). The venues are all over the place not just the fieldhouse ... once even 25 minutes away at Warren Central at 8 p.m. on courts that were sub-par when the real basketball courts were unused. They charge an extra $5 for parents to see their kids each game. We tried 3 sessions because my kiddo loves to play basketball.
