They have an open rooftop seating which somewhat gave off the vibe that you're in the city of Chicago. Service throughout was pretty good. My husband and I came in for dinner and were seated right away. Given the premium pricing, I was expecting to be blown away by the food and drinks. I thought both were just OK. The cocktails were on the syrupy side while the food was more of a miss for me. We tried the grilled calamari and it was bland and overcooked. The texture was really weird, we also found what could have been plastic or bones in the middle. I did say something to our server and she dismissed it like it wasn't a big deal. My review is a mixed bag because in my eyes, the experience is just as important as the food/drinks. This is my second time at the restaurant and we brought friends this time b/c we enjoyed our time the first time. Second time - not so much. I made the reservation several weeks in advance and put a request for the upstairs rooftop - b/c it's beautiful. I understood going in that it's first come first serve for it. However, I thought they would heed requests before seating others upstairs - if there were reservations. That is not the case. So - very pointless to put this in your request during your reservation. Needless to say - we got there and it would have been a 45 min wait at 6 pm for the rooftop. We opted not to wait. They then sat us in a "corner" by the freight elevator. Not ideal - but I thought - it would be okay b/c at least it's not as loud as the "main" area. What I didn't know - was that the "section" we were placed in was like no man's land. Took 10 plus minutes to get a waiter - but the kicker was there was no air conditioning in this section. Zero. None. It was hotter than heck! Those factors alone were not good. Water was brought - but no ice. Had to ask for that - and let me tell you - cold water in that heat was needed. The rest of the restaurant had A/C - just not the 4+ tables by the freight elevator. Moving on to the food. The food was excellent. I got a spicy mussels special, my husband got the Spicy Piggy, our guests got a veal dish and another pasta. We had leftovers the next day and everything re-heated just as good. We did not get dessert - much too hot and we simply wanted to leave the restaurant. On a side note - not that I would have wanted it that night - but they also don't serve coffee - just espresso (I think). Very odd to not have coffee - my guest thought. So - experience/atmosphere = 0 stars, but food was excellent - hence the middle of the road rating. Unsure if I would risk going back - great food but many other restaurants have great food + great experience. read more

We went here for my daughter's Graduation dinner 5/7/26. So the good points is that the people here are very friendly and the service is good. The areas not too impressed, food is way way overly priced and it's just ok. Food overall is not great, not horrible. Just ok. But for the money, def not up to par. They charge 35-40 for pasta. Pasta! Kinda ridiculous. We had a table for 6 and couple meat dishes but mostly pasta and the bill was over $400. Anyways. Again for the money, u can def do better. read more

We came by for an early dinner right at the open on a Friday night. This restaurant is sort of hidden away if you're not looking for it but has a beautiful floral awning to distinguish itself from other store fronts. When you walk in you're greeted with a stair case upstairs but they do have an elevator. This restaurant is family owned and you can tell the love and care they put into their menu based on the knowledge each person has on their "of the day" dishes. When we were say we were offered pelleigrino, panna or tap. Fair warning the panna bottle is $10 so just be mindful as you order if that's a concern. Bread is offered, Parmesan and oil are on the table for you to mix your dipping. We decided to start with the calamari, it was breaded and serve with an aioli. The serving size was huge and prefect to share with 3-4 people. My husband and I decided to share their lasagna of the day which was a short rib lasanga and their Caccio de Pepe which was prepared and served table side. They split the plates for us. The lasagna was good but I think it needed a knife because the short rib kept it from being just a fork bite, the caccio de Pepe was delicious. You can taste the quality of cheese that they use. The ambience is perfect for an intimate dinner or date night with warm, moody lighting with beautiful florals cascading from the ceiling both indoors and out. The restaurant was not very crowded when I arrived, but quickly filled up as the evening went on. I started the evening with my usual drink of choice -- an espresso martini -- which was excellent. For dinner, I ordered the Caesar salad and vodka pasta with sausage. Both were delicious, and paired with the complimentary bread and oil, I could only make it through half before I was completely full. Since it was a birthday dinner, the staff surprised me with a complimentary birthday gelato which was a thoughtful touch that made the evening feel extra special! This restaurant sets up a wonderful experience from the beautiful dining room to delicious cocktails what a great place to have dinner. My wife and I enjoyed the Cacio e Pepe and special short rib lasagna for the evening. The Cacio was tossed in a wheel of Parmesan cheese and tasted fantastic served straight to our plates. The service was amazing--our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and handled every question we had with genuine patience and grace. It made the entire evening feel relaxed and special. You can tell there's a strong team behind the scenes, as there was plenty of staff on hand making sure everything ran seamlessly. And the food--just outstanding. We reserved a roof top table, the weather was nice. (The note the main restaurant is very nice with a nice bar.) The rooftop has a bar and limited tables, so you will need a reservation on busier nights, but it looked like you can just sit at the bar and order also. The food was awesome. Started with the arancini. It was served with an alfredo sauce vs red sauce. it was great. She got the short ribs, very nice portion, and she loved it. I ordered the cavatelli with sausage and brocolini. It was outstanding, it was so rich in a buttery parmesan sauce. Excellent!! We will be back. This a great date night spot or any other day as well. Just be prepared to climb a lot of steep stairs. Also, parking is horrible in the summer in Wheaton, even in the garage, so leave time for parking. read more

We had a reservation at 3:30 pm. We were seated promptly on the rooftop and it was very nice. Our server was very attentive and offered water immediately as we waited for the other two people in our party. We ordered 2 glasses of wine and my friend had an old fashioned. Two of us ordered gnocchi one with vodka sauce and one with tomato basil. The vodka sauce was 2.00 extra, when they arrived, they were exactly the same, both tomato basil sauce, when my fries questioned it, she was told no that's vodka sauce. We knew it was not. As we both are very cold Italian cooks and clearly saw it was tomato basil. We each tasted the others sauce and they were identical. She didn't push it and ate her meal. After finishing, two of us ordered dessert. The bill came while we were finishing dessert. I still had half a glass of wine to finish. Immediately after they took the bill s with outr cards, a girl with a long blonde ponytail came over and said they have a strict policy of an hour and a half and we need to leave! I still had not finished my wine and we were told to leave. I was shocked . We spent quite a bit of money in this establishment as they are overpriced for all their offerings. I will never return to this place again. We ate up on the rooftop and it was so pretty. What really made this experience so great, though, was the service. Our waiter was fantastic, attentive, and quick. So personable!! Everyone at the restaurant was so kind and helpful. It felt like 5 star service. Food and drinks came out so timely. The espresso martini was divine. And every single thing we ordered we loved! We have not been here for a while (since covid) because their main dining area is often very loud and crowded. However, the new -covered for the crisp fall day- rooftop dining room is very quiet and beautiful. We arrived as they opened for dinner, and it was to our selves for the first 30 minutes (we were there at 4 pm). We had their limoncello margarita (delicious and generous), Burrata Cleese with fresh tomatoes, short rib lasagna, and steak and mushroom tagliatelle in a cream sauce. Everything was delicious, including the homemade bread that came with the dinner. Now, we're rethinking our priorities to make this a weekly dining experience. This place was advertised on TikTok for the rooftop scene. When we walked in, I almost wish we would've stayed downstairs- it's gorgeous! Our server, I think his name was David, was amazing. We went on a Friday night where a bottle of wine was 20% off, so we went with a Pinot Grigio after being able to taste test a few of the other ones we were thinking of. For appetizers, we got the pumpkin ravioli and baked clams. I enjoyed the pumpkin ravioli, the baked clams were good too but nothing to rave about. We decided to go with his recommendations of the Spicy Piggy and the Tagliatelle Funghi, both were great!!!! We had plenty to take home. We attended Sogno for a special occasion and it was the perfect choice! Both food and service were exceptional. The Aperol spritz was perfection, it tasted authentic and just like a Sorrento apertivo! The Cacio de Pepe prepared table side was DIVINE! The burrata from Napoli did not disappoint. Our table tried every dish from hanger steaks to clams and flounder; EVERYTHING was exceptional. The Italian wines were all on point too. Naturally, we had tiramisu and an amaretto digestif to finish the perfect evening. The only negative with this dining experience is that we live 2500 miles away and will long to return often without means to do so. You won't go wrong choosing Sogno. read more

The vibe of this place is really cool. The designs, wallpapers, and art is really pretty and aesthetic. The server was great, but we were a bit confused because 3-4 different servers/busters came up to us during dinner instead of just our main server. All the dishes we ordered were missing a tad of seasoning/spices. The lobster pasta dish was amazing but a some salt or pepper would have been great and none were on the table. For the truffle cream and hanger steak pasta, there was no distinct taste of the truffle like the previous times we ordered this dish. The truffle taste was very faint. For the chicken parm, the chicken was amazing and the portion was huge but again the pasta tasted like straight tomato sauce and no hint of oregano or something a bit more. It was still great food and amazing portion sizes but missing those distinct flavors that are usually there when we go. For the dessert, I would not get the tiramisu. It was mainly whipped cream. However the ferrero rocher dessert was phenomenal. I would highly recommend that dessert for any chocolate lovers or anyone who loves ferrero rocher. read more

I recently dined here with friends and had an enjoyable experience. The restaurant is beautiful - I can't wait to come here in warmer weather and sit outside. Very classy, cute, and fun. Our friend had been to the restaurant previously for a bridal shower which seems so perfect. All the wait staff was wonderful, we were well taken care of by multiple people. The only exception to this is that I had a beverage and the rest of the table split a bottle of wine. When I was ready for my next drink, I had to wait until our entrees arrived because there were only food runners that visited our table. Minor detail but hopefully next time it'll be better. The food was delicious! The appetizers are a bit small so for a group of people you'll need a few. But the flavors were all wonderful! On Friday, March 20th we loved the food and service on the rooftop BUT we did not expect to eat dinner with a DOG. This was not a service dog. Just a couples' 40 lb dog on a leash. They were seated at the table next to us. When does it become OK to bring your dog in a restaurant, especially a very nice restaurant like Il Sogno? What about the poor people that are allergic to dogs? I personally have a dog, but would never think of bringing him into a restaurant. One of the best places in downtown Wheaton. They are so good with making tweaks on their menu. I love the paccheri and the spicy piggy. Obviously it's popular so seating might take a while even with a reservation. The drink selection is on the high end, however it's good quality and well thought out. Sometimes they have discounts on wine which makes the experience nicer, and it's quite clever, because it ultimately makes us spend more. The interior is gorgeous, the rooftop is cozy. The staff is fun & makes the experience even better. It's one of the coolest restaurants in Wheaton. Always a reliable spot for a special occasion. read more

IN LOVE with this restaurant! My boss is from Wheaton and he recommended it to me, and wow... my boyfriend and I were impressed! The food, atmosphere, and service are absolutely incredible! Our waitress was so good that I wish I got her name. She told us that Sogno is family owned by a mother and daughter. She also mentioned that the mother, Nancy, is from Naples. This was definitely apparent in the food. The bread, appetizer, Caesar salad, and pastas were delicious. Pasta cooked to perfection. We ordered the ricotta pasta dish with crumbled Italian sausage, and the lobster ravioli. We wanted to try more than one pasta dish, so sharing and tasting each other's worked out well! Both were amazing. They have a pretty decent drink menu. I had two glasses of wine and the pours were generous. We sat on the rooftop and it was LOVELY! Had a wonderful meal here with my wife this past Friday night. Started with grilled calamari and meatballs with polenta, both were great. My wife had the sea bass special and it was amazing- I had the short rib lasagna and OMG was it good. Sogno - my family's observations as a party of 3 with total bill of $380. Definitely not a $$ destination. Lots of positives .... *DECOR*is dark and moody in a good way - very social media forward if you like/want that sort of feel although most using phone lights to read the menu printed too lightly. *COCKTAILS* were perfectly balanced in flavor although OVERLY pricey! *APPETIZER* amazing baked burrata with tomatoes that tasted summer fresh in January! *ENTREES* show excellence in ingredient quality, portion size, as well as most flavors *DESSERT* order the ricotta pistachio cake for sure! A few less positives ... *CAESAR SALAD* should be skipped, so incredibly overdressed it was rendered inedible after two bites *CACIO e PEPE - was so excited to have this, but would never order again as it was completely MISSING the PEPE (note NO pepper grinder on the table and not asked if wanted extra) and the literal pool of EVOO covering almost a third of the plate made it just taste simply as spaghetti in olive oil and the $12 garlic shrimp addition translated to minced garlic shrimp that was maybe 2 shrimps in total - all for $42! *LIMONCELLO GELATO* was amazing, but $10 for a champagne flute of this is CRAZY *SERVICE & STAFF* - very attentive in both good and bad way. Courteous and very friendly! We felt rushed from the instant we were shown to our table - bread sort of tossed on the table as we were taking off our coats and hadn't even been able to sit down yet, and was a small wrapped 4 piece bundle in foil in wonky oversized bowl - again needed a pepper grinder on the table to add to oil & parm. Servers tried removing plates that we were still eating from, felt rushed from one course to another with no time to enjoy each course and each others company and team swarmed the table to set up for next as we were putting on coats to leave that we had to maneuver around. *LADIES BATHROOM* does not have seat covers! Should be a norm now! *RETURN* unlikely sadly - we want to enjoy a family dinner without feeling like we were immediately being rushed and pushed out, especially when dinner out at a place like this is a luxury for most these days. read more

Quality- the meat is very well seasoned and I can tell they spent time making sure it is not rushed. The sauce is also creamy and homemade here too. I like the vodka sauce more than the traditional spaghetti sauce and the pasta is cooked just right. The meat in the special is a small juicy cut of steak cooked a nice medium. It is underneath a thick layer of sauce. Quantity- paying more for quality here. 50 dollars for a dish of pasta is quite a bit. They also didn't tell me the cost before getting it. The first two times we visited were fantastic. The food is always amazing-- no worries ever in that department. Good portions, packed with flavor, just good classic Italian food. On our second visit we were fortunate enough to be paired with a wonderful server who gave the best suggestions and chatted us up the whole time. For the life of me I can't remember his name but he must have been mentioned elsewhere in these reviews because he was fantastic and went above and beyond to recommend us some good f***ing food. However, on our third visit we unfortunately encountered some of the worst service we've ever experienced. Our waitress was uncommonly inattentive. I'm not exaggerating when I say we've had better service at Texas Roadhouse! She seemed out of it, as if high on something. Came to our table 10 minutes after ordering apps to confirm that we had, indeed, ordered apps... and then was rarely seen again. We wanted drinks but she didn't come to our table, so we flagged down a busboy. She served the drinks as if she couldn't be bothered, and then all our dishes from the bread and apps were sitting there on our table while we ate our entrees. The tables are small at this restaurant so it was awkward with all the old dirty dishes. She never looked us in the eye, never asked us if our food was good, never came back to ask us if we wanted refills on our drinks, etc. We thought of ordering dessert but didn't bother because no one came by our table for 30 minutes after our entrees were long gone. We expect to pay good money on our date nights-- apps, entrees, drinks, dessert, the whole deal. But how can we justify that when we have to actively flag down some poor busboy who isn't even assigned to our table and has other things to deal with??? For $200+ a meal, you would expect servers who can at least take your dishes away. I want to go back because the food is so good but our server soured our experience for the meantime. read more
