Table top. Noticed the small blue bottle of hand sizer. Nice touch.

Delicious food. Friendly server. Lots of choices on the menu. The only thing that would have made our meal better would have been if they served the bread warm. Just pop it in the oven at 350 degrees for a few minutes and it would have made a world of difference.

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's quaint but with fantastic service and food![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got the orecchiette pasta, arancini, chicken piccata, and meatballs. All were fantastic! The service was quick and friendly. The prices were very reasonable for amazing food, and includes fresh bread for the table. I highly recommend this place!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the location of this restaurant which occupies several rooms and floors of an old white house in downtown Lombard.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was friendly and fast - almost too fast. We hadn't finished our soups / salads when the entrees came out. My favorite part of the meal was the pear and walnut salad. Delicious and fresh with a light vinaigrette dressing. My lobster ravioli lacked flavor and tasted way too fishy - almost like the lobster had been frozen and thawed repeatedly before the ravioli filling was prepared. My cannoli was good with bakery- like quality. The chocolate cake was also good. Overall, it was a good (note the repeated "good") meal but nothing above and beyond was outstanding.

Hmmmmm... I've wanted to dine here since they opened 5yrs ago. I just dropped by today. It's a big white house, turned restaurant, next to the library! Don't miss it... We came for lunch around 1245. Not many were dining in, but enough in the freezing temps, I guess. We 1st ordered drinks, which were good and strong. We then ordered our meals. Alfredo, meatballs, a kids rigatoni w/a meatball, and shrimp linguine. It took the food like 20 mins. Everything was fresh and HOT except my meatballs. Everything was very tasty too! Soooooo why the 3 stars?? Service was weird. I felt side eyed, it didn't seem genuine. Would I return?? I wouldn't! Am I glad I tried them out? I am... NEXT

Went there for lunch on a weekend, and there was surprisingly no wait. I can't understand this since my experience led me to believe this place has real quality food and service. Service was really friendly and personable. Our server offered thorough recommendations and even asked the chef questions on our behalf. I ordered the Arancini and Orrechiette. The Aranicini was wonderfully cooked, and the sauce, fresh and flavorful. I would have liked it a bit more fried, but that's personal preference. I had a hard time deciding on my main dish between the Orecchiette and the vodka sauce option. I decided on the orrechiette and was not dissatisfied. It was creamy and full of flavor from the crisp prosciutto and sausage. Everything I got was super fresh, and you can tell by the flavors. Next time, I will try the vodka sauce for sure. It's one of my new favorite homey Italian spots for sure.

Does this restaurant have gluten free options?

The fried calamari is actually gluten free and is DELICIOUS! No GF pastas but entrees i.e. chicken dishes are good options. My sister has celiac disease and hS no problem…

    How cold is the. Beer?

Never had a beer here but had wine, so I imagine they have Peroni or Heineken

The price point was on the high side for us but not out-of-reach. We arrived and was immediately sat in the bar; in fact, everyone is sat in the bar. The dining room has about twenty tables, and they were two tables being used; the bar also had about twenty tables and every table was sat. I asked the waiter and they do sit the bar area first and overflow into the dining room. With the bar area at near capacity and all hard surfaces it was very loud. The dining room had carpet floor and a coffered beamed ceiling it was tremendously quiet. If you want the energy of a crowded restaurant the bar is great, the dinning rom is a more upscale experience.  We started with Calamari Friiti, that is the title of the dish. In smaller print the description is Crispy Fried Calamari, Zucchini,  and herbs. What was served was 70% NOT Calamari but thin fried zucchini strips, fried rosemary (literally the twig of rosemary in batter and fried), and fried thyme (the thyme was removed from the twig so I could not even find it., but the waiter said it was there. At $19  expected more Calamari at least 60%, after all the dish was not called "fried herbs and Calamari". Our table had Spaghetti and Meatballs at $24, the Stuffed Pork Chop special (with Broccoli Rabe) at $27, and I had the Eggplant Parmigiana at $20. I get eggplant Parmesan a lot, it is my favorite Italian dish. $20 is high for eggplant Parmesan, I prefer my eggplant thinly sliced and fried. This is more three eggplant steaks with cheese and red gravy. Not my personal favorite but good. The pasta was so unusual I had to ask about it; the waiter said it is made from scratch in house but the shape in an Italian grocery store would be casarecce. I thought $24 for Spaghetti and Meatballs high but my husband said the Meatballs were excellent. Finally, $27 for one Stuffed Pork Chop also seemed high but it tasted great, the garlic white wine sauce made a tasty glaze. We ordered Tiramisu for the table and one person got the blueberry sorbet. I found the Tiramisu traditional and another person thought the mascarpone cheese was whipped too much. I read a several reviews, most of the reviewers praised the service as outstanding; we found our server disappearing for 30 - 40 minutes; we had to call someone over to order desert and another to get the check.

Great bar and table area. Drinks: Italian wine Luigi Righetti Valpolicella Ripasso and bread while I waited on my appetizer. Standard Peroni Italian beer. Dessert: apple crostata with vanilla gelato and drizzled caramel. This was good, fresh, and hot. Need a little more apples but delicious. Appetizer: I had Fritto Misto lightly breaded calamari, octopus, and shrimp in garlic. I liked this dish and substituted the cocktail sauce for marinara. I'm not into sweet dips. Entree: Bucatini Del lazio a pasta with lobster meat and jumbo shrimp in a brandy cream sauce. This was delicious and light. I can tell that the pasta was homemade. Very filling but I would have wanted more garlic in it.

The tomato sauce was flavorful, and the shaved Parmesan and arugula complemented the dish beautifully. Unfortunately, the arancini themselves were disappointing, as the coating was much too thick compared to the small amount of rice filling inside. For our entrées, my husband ordered the Chicken Parmigiana. The chicken was unfortunately very dry and overly salted. I chose the pappardelle with short rib ragù. The fresh pasta was excellent--perfectly made with a wonderful texture--but the ragù was also overly salted, which overshadowed what could have been a great dish. One of the highlights of our evening was the service. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and provided excellent service throughout our meal. The hostess, who may have been the owner, also stopped by our table to check on us, which we appreciated. Overall, this certainly wasn't the worst Italian restaurant we've visited, and there were several things we enjoyed. However, the entrées ultimately fell short of our expectations, especially for a special dinner.

They have an excellent bar up front and make great cocktails- my husband and dad both love the classic old fashion! I'm a sucker for a nice glass of Pinot Noir. If you're dining in (and you really should!) The pasta bolognese is a must have. Always amazing. And the black pepper shrimp over polenta is an amazing appetizer! So rich and delicious. These are both part of my go-to order here. Recently expanded my order and tried the short rib over polenta for the first time, it was amazing. Tender. Flavorful. Good sized portion. Wonderful. Will absolutely get again. For dessert, and there's always room for dessert here in my opinion, I love to get the rich panna cotta. This past time though we got the butterscotch budino, which was smooth and rich without being overly sweet. It was perfect to share (or not)! Just enough hint of butterscotch and topped with a crumbled shortbread cookie to an add a little crunch to the otherwise creamy treat. Problem began with our phantom server, waited a while til someone approached us. No water, no menus, no server. Finally after almost 20 min, the server appeared, he seemed very frazzled. Spoke quickly. We asked for a menu, water, silverware & napkins. At almost 30 minutes, we finally ordered our entrees. I ordered Fettuccine Alfredo, and my husband ordered Arrabbiata Sauce w/spaghetti which came with a small side salad or soup. I chose soup, and my husband had a side salad. And we asked for some bread for the table. We waited another 20 minutes for our salad and soup, and I was given a tsp for the soup, all things considered, it was good. We saw the server twice while we were there, appeared very pre-occupied. The kitchen staff served our pasta meals. My husband said his was good, my Fettuccine Alfredo was also good, but very Al dente. Meantime, still waiting for bread .... All in all, it was a good meal, sometimes servers can make or break it! When our server greeted us and asked how we were, we asked how he was doing in return, and he responded that he "could be better." While honesty is fine, it wasn't the best way to begin a dining experience. He appeared slow-moving and unwell throughout the meal, which honestly made us uncomfortable and less confident about the food we were eating. We couldn't help but wonder if he was sick--or possibly just recovering from New Year's Eve festivities--but either way, it impacted the experience. We ordered the chicken carbonara and the spicy shrimp penne, and it pains me to say this, but the food was mid at best. I genuinely feel like I would have enjoyed both the food and the service more had we gone to Olive Garden instead, which isn't something I say lightly. Since it was our first visit, I also expected a bit more guidance. The server knew it was our first time dining there, yet didn't explain the layout or how to exit the restaurant. When it came time to leave, I wasn't sure whether we were supposed to exit the same way we entered--through the kitchen--or navigate the maze-like dining room to find another way out. Overall, it just wasn't a great dining experience, and it's not how I would have chosen to start my first meal out in 2026. Disappointing all around.
