I seriously don't even know where to begin. SoHo has become my second home for so many reasons. Yes, they have the absolute best yoga instructors I have ever had the privilege of working with, yes, they are a warm, safe, inviting space, yes, they have totally rocked this mid-40s mom of three body into the best shape it's ever been, yes, they have a wide range of classes for everyone and most hours of the day, BUT most importantly, they continue to make me feel loved, seen, empowered and strong. As a Los Angeles transplant, I have never felt the South Bay as my real home, but I can say, I do feel some sense of belonging at SoHo which has meant the world to me. It's just... okay. It's kind of a scene here. Like kind of a rich Hermosa Beach yoga status club. People doing yoga with their Rolexes on. Instructors are good, and the classes are fine. But there are several things that other spots do way better. For one, it definitely smells pretty funky compared to other studios... like kinda mildewy and fermented sweat. Also, it's super bright during the day, so not much much of a zen vibe... Although maybe that's not what people are going here for. I was actually in a class and one of the people taking the class kept yelling out "WOOOO!" the whole time, which was clearly super obnoxious and disruptive to several people around her (myself included) and the instructor did nothing to ask her to pull it back a little bit, There's just one shower in the men's room and it's not all that clean, the hallway is pretty narrow and can get really cluttered when classes are starting or ending, and they charge you for shower towels, which just seems a bit silly. I was deciding between here and Hot 8, and ultimately went with Hot 8 for several reasons, one being that the facilities are always super clean, the instructors are great, and I've never been to one that even remotely smelled bad. The complementary eucalyptus towels are a perk, and they don't charge you for shower towels, again, which is more of a principal thing than anything else. I get that this place has a following, and that's cool... if people love it, then they love it! Just not for me. read more

My wife bought a 10-pack of classes right before she found out she was pregnant with a high-risk pregnancy. Her doctor advised her to avoid yoga unless it was specifically prenatal yoga. They do not offer prenatal classes at this location. She emailed and called the manager, asking if they could make the exception to transfer her remaining classes paid for to myself - which I was happy to use! Especially because we were trying to move out of Hermosa, and we weren't sure if she would have an opportunity to use all of the classes. They said "no." Anyway we moved...and we are still out over $100. They could have at least sent her an over-priced yoga outfit for the profit they made... read more

The classes and teachers at Soho Yoga are exceptional. However, the front-desk staff and back-office team drop the ball which creates a headache for attendees. United and American Airlines treat their basic economy passengers better than Soho Yoga does a full paying guest. Say, for example, you arrive four minutes early to class. You will lose your spot at their more popular classes and will not receive credit or a refund. Soho Yoga sends you a canned response with no consideration for the circumstances. Soho explained that this policy was outlined in an email sent 12-hours prior to class when I booked the class a few hours beforehand. The only way to resolve the poor customer service and the failure of Soho Yoga to abide by their own Terms of Service is by making a dispute with your credit card company. I have four recommendations to Soho Yoga: 1. Continue to do a great job of selecting the right instructors and classes. 2. Provide a higher level of customer service and show more empathy for guests who are paying upwards of $30 a class. 3. Add your policies to the booking process and your terms of service. 4. Understand what the concept of "Customer Lifetime Value" means and that it's likely worth taking a few minutes longer to read your emails to understand their circumstances. I'll return to Soho Yoga since the instructors are great. It's a shame they're supported by a front-office team that wouldn't pass as an entry-level customer service rep at a greyhound bus top in rural America. read more

I had the worst experience at this yoga studio. It was my first time visiting and my last. Get this, after my session I was in a zen mood until I was accosted by the person working the front desk. She accused me of taking too long at the shower. According to her, another client claimed that I was taking too long when it wasn't true. Rather than ask non-accusations questions to understand more, she went straight to lecturing me on shower time rules. What made the matter worst is that the staff member could not drop the topic. She kept pressing and pressing and pressing that I cannot take 10 minute showers. She then explained that she would write up a report to management to further document "the situation". As icing on the cake, when I expressed to the rude employee that I was feeling attacked by her continuous accusation and that the studio has now lost a customer for life, she responded with, "I'm sorry you feel that way" then held a big long insincere grin. Completely out of my comfort zone. I took a chance and listened to my intuition and I am so stoked I did!!!! Just signed up for the 6 month unlimited and honestly I look at it as an investment to my mental, physical and emotional health and well-being! The studio is very clean, and unlike many other hot studios, it doesn't smell of sweat (Yey!) The bathrooms are usually quite clean but the changing area is a little small. The upstairs studio (non-heated) is much smaller than the downstairs one, and classes are usually a little less crowded. Tatiana's Power classes are excellent, but they get packed so book your spot ahead -- way ahead! You'll likely be mat to mat with other yogis and the room is more humid than most because of the misting fans, so be prepared to sweat. read more

I joined SOHO yoga for hot yoga. The heat in the hot yoga room is not hot as I expected. They have steam in the room. The steam in the room makes you get wet rather than the sweat from heat in the room. I was only able to take the morning 6am or 7-15am classes during those times most of these classes are not yoga experiences with smooth yoga stretches, yoga flows and yoga music. Instead these classes seem to be desperately trying to prove that you can get better butt and better abs by doing crunches etc for heavy , loud music. I do bike ride for my cardio and workout on machines for my muscles so I was disappointed by not getting my yoga stretches and hot sweat detox for which i signed up. read more

Oh how I love hot yoga. Parking during the day is such a hassle, so give yourself some time to find a parking spot. Trainers and classes are pretty special. The place is friendly and creates a sense of community. The ONLY thing I don't like about the place is that during the evening classes, the place slightly smells of BO. I assume it's because so many people come in the evening classes which is understandable...:/ I still give it a 5. Absolutely love this studio. I Have been in a new workout vibe, where focus on strength, detox, stretch, and refocus are my body needs. Normally, i am a lifter, however, I am worn out of pump at the moment. CLASSES: I signed on with SoHo for the "$30 for 30" and I swear every Class has been amazing! Top notch instructors, great studio environment. Best price in town especially for the quality of this studio. PARKING Depending on the time of year parking can be tough in Hermosa, period. But Fall & Winter have been a bit easier, with lots of parking a cross the street (Hermosa parking garage) I try to get there a little early so I make sure I have a spot. Also depends on what time you want to get in for the class:) overall try to get there a little early. MUSIC Awesome variety between all of the instructors, No two classes are alike and each class seems to be what I need in that moment. Love all of it!! HOT YOGA This is is the real reason I am signing on, the studio Is so clean, great calming vibes, no pressure to be perfect, but push you to be better. Such great Flow classes! Great instructors for yoga. My first classes have been here and I enjoy the hot room. The facility is pretty clean but tends to get packed at times depending on the class and so on. My only quip is compared to other yoga classes I have taken in the past. It seems like the people here can be my cliquey. I LOVE SOHO. By far the best yoga studio I've been to yet! I got the $30 for 30 days for new students. If I wasn't a recent college student, I would totally sign up for more classes after the trial period was over. I took roots and yoga flow classes usually since the hot yoga was killer for me. I loved the meditation and the flow of the classes. Greg was very good at teaching his classes, definitely recommend! Also, the yoga studio was very accomodating. There was fruit flavored iced water, tea, hot water, and cold towelettes to use. Also, the bathroom was very clean and there were hair bands, razors, shaving cream, blow dryers, and even tampons. Talk about being overly prepared for their yogis! Loved this studio, especially it being so close to Hermosa Beach! Only note is that parking is pretty hard to find around there. There is a parking structure that you can pay $1.25 per hour or you can park 0.5 miles farther in the surrounding neighborhood where the signs say you can park for 1 hour only in the summer months. That way you can park there for more than hour. Definitely would give Soho Yoga more than 5 stars if I could! read more

Soho Yoga is a place that does not respect the client. They charge you wrong amounts in your account and when you decide to leave the studio they charge you one month more! Even if you give advance notice, they will deduct from your card without permission! I talked with more than six different people (including owner) a month and a half before I left and they still charge me almost $200! They just want your money! I did a crazy workout the day before Easter Sunday with family and so on Saturday, I went to 6:30 am yoga class, 7:30 am, and 11:30 am. I loved how the teacher kept motivating and pushing us at such an early time of the day! I did get irritated when I finished the 7:30 am class and did not even meditate long, but this girl who wanted my spot was rushing me to move. I love these hot yoga classes, but the only drawback is that it tends to attract a lot of show offs, men and women, even though there is a mix of students. I come from a more spiritual background yoga-wise so as much as I love the physical benefits here, I dislike the arrogant egotistical attitudes at these studios, but hey, I guess I can only just avoid that by going to really early classes or really late classes, I don't know. One thing I love is truly the kind teachers & staff. They are welcoming, helpful and really nice. I love the layout it's pretty and this location is perfect being steps from the beach. The kundalini teacher surprised class with a sound bath and I plan on coming to her classes on a consistent basis. I am appreciative she asked the class for some feedback on meditation suggestions and I wanted to focus on abundance and prosperity since this Libra Full Moon is perfect for that. This class was on the upper floor which was a nice switch from the heated classes I took and I loved how airy it was and restorative too. Next time, I will bring all white! BEST location to do yoga since it's heated and by the beach. It is upscale and advanced and most of the students here are doing advanced poses, which I want to progress to. I love the parking here too, very accessible and who can resist hanging out at the beach afterwards as a treat? :) read more

SoHo Yoga has an amazing environment from the unique flooring to the exposed brick walls to ice cold towels after green heated classes. Seriously the best yoga experience I've ever had! The staff really wants you to succeed in not only building strength and flexibility but a peace of mind and confidence in your direction. One of the most unexpected surprises was their bathroom. It was clean and welcoming with luxury touches giving it a spa feel. I was very comfortable and clean after my class :) All in all, SoHo Yoga is amazing. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for the best yoga experience of their life!!! read more
