Absolutely love the Junior Slipper Burger with fried egg option, and their fries and onion rings are delicious. Crab cakes are good, steaks are too. I frequently have the alligator appetizer, but they might be too spicy for some people. The live music can be very entertaining. Fun atmosphere with live music on a Saturday night. Food was unique and absolutely delicious, Cajun sushi was amazing. Staff were attentive and very happy when serving us. Checked on us multiple times and engaged in lighthearted conversation. Definitely get the onion rings! read more

Silver Slipper was at the Small Town Chefs dinner in 2015. The food they brought was very good and a bit unique with the Cajun hibachi idea. So when we stumbled across it while out driving one afternoon, we had to try the place out. The patio was very nice and it was covered, but it was a bit hot so we opted to go inside. The place was very cute. Not very big, in fact I think the patio is bigger than the dining room. It was not too crowded being 1:00 am on Saturday. We where the fourth table seated for food. We were a bit sad when we saw the lunch menu. No Hibachi for lunch. There was a nice selection of sandwiches (club, blt, burger) and salads, but we were looking for that Asian Cajun fusion. We ended up with the Cajun eggrolls and Asian slaw with crab stuffed avocado. The Cajun eggrolls were good, not great. There was way too much corn (which look like it was canned and not fresh) than meat for my taste. The remoulade dipping sauce was really good. The Asian slaw was fresh an good, but it tasted like a regular vinegar based slaw. Not sure what made it Asian. The crab avocado was really good. The crab was fresh and dusted with just a hint of Cajun spice. That mixed with a bit of creamy avocado was out of this world good. The food as decent, but not the cajun hibachi advertised, so I give it three stars. We did get a peek at the dinner menu and brunch menus. Both had the hibachi option, so we are planning a trip back in a few weeks. read more

After judging this book by its cover and passing it up for 2-3 years, we decided to pop in. "People get the fried pickles," - what our server said when I asked her what she liked on the menu. Asked if she liked any menu items & she shrugged. We were excited that both Bayou Teche & Canebreak were on the draft menu but on a Friday night at 7PM, beer was out and "only the manager knows how to change the keg and the manager isn't here right now." My friend drank the last bottled LA31, so we didn't get to drink any local brews. I ordered the Arnaudville roll, described as avocado with fried alligator and lump crabmeat on top. The roll had no avocado and shredded Krab-stick on top. We each had a bite and no one wanted to finish it. Lastly, the server came up to the table and said "Y'all want the check?" Then she brought us 2 checks even though we didn't ask for it to be split. Such a strange & comical experience. Had the Silver Slipper burger. Wish I'd have taken a picture, because it was HUGE. Added the applewood bacon, sautéed onions and jalapeños. Perfectly cooked and seasoned, and absolutely delicious. Very cool atmosphere. Inside has black, acoustical foam sprayed ceilings, making it quiet and cool on the inside. Fans on the outdoor area make it comfortable in the summer and an overhead heating system makes it very nice in the winter. Will definitely be back to take advantage of those tables designed for eating crawfish! read more

Second time here and second time we had to wait an hour and a half for food. We had 3 burgers and a club sandwich, not something that would take long, and there were only about 5 other tables with patrons. They were "out" of hibachi and only 3 rolls were available on the menu. Our waitress was super sweet and apologetic, it's clearly a mismanagement issue in the kitchen. Won't be back. read more

It was funny how we found this place, out in the back roads of Louisiana between small towns and farmland my daughter and I found this place and loved everything about it. The food was great the bayou was just across the road and the people were wonderful. This place is adorable. We first stumbled upon it one Sunday during an I-10 detour between Gonzales & Houston. Now we stop every trip on our way back. Awesome food, the friendliest staff and live music every Sunday. Highly recommend their gumbo, brussel sprouts, shrimp & grits and of course those bloody Mary's are practically a meal! Really disappointed...I heard nothing but great things from people about the food. When we arrived there I was skeptical from the outward appearance. But don't be fooled, the inside is such an amazing ambience. Such a great charm and the patio is what dreams are made of. But unfortunately that's where it started to become a nightmare... Sat ourselves because literally no one came sit us..luckily we found the menu.. After about 15 mins the waitress finally came after we said hello to her on her smoke break. Let's start with the good..............well, I can't name anything. Mallory, our waitress, was so hard to get to especially when she was on her phone in the corner adjacent to the bar. One hour later no food and only served drinks twice. The appetizer comes with the food and looks literally and physically like a fried midget turd strategically placed on a plate circling the dipping sauce as if the sauce was under siege. NO JOKE!!! Now let's get to the main course, each order had issues. The slipper burger was missing all its key ingredients i.e. Jalapeños, grilled unions, or a combination of the sort. The waitress, swears up and down that it just came off the grill but the soggy onion rings and dried over cooked shrimp on a half and half poboy would argue differently. The waitress "Mallory" in all her absent glory had problems while speaking out loud on her rant to the kitchen had no idea I was following her on a quest to talk to the manager. The manager has no clue what should be on the burger and apparently what's on the menu. These pricks had the nerve to get upset with us after we paid them for the burger only and deducted as such to equal the lesser burger due to missing key ingredients. They went as far as sending an off the clock employee in a weight lifted newer model Ford F-150 to run us down and off the road as we were driving away. In there defense, we all had heated other than honorable words exchanged between us but come on, I gave you my phone number for your boss to contact me since you were obviously under qualified to handle the situation. Ps you even screwed up the bill. But sending an off hours employee to run us down, Despicable!!!! To the owner, please call me so I can fill you in on the horrors of your absence. read more

My Girlfriends and I decided to try a new place for Sunday Brunch and made the drive to Leonville. Is this place worth the drive? YES! Started off with Bloody Marys and Mimosas. If you like a lille salad, bacon, and grilled shrimp with your Mary, then this is the drink for you! It was awesome with just the right amount of spice! We each decided to try something different that way we could share and experience a little bit of everything. We ordered the hash, boudin omelet, shrimp & grits, and one of the sushi rolls. The only two negative things were the grilled shrimp (too salty) and the roll needed a little more zing. All the other items were great! Their biscuits were huge and had that crispy outside with the warm soft interior. The grits were seasoned just right. Boudin in the omelet was good, the hash had the right amount of potato to sausage mix. For dessert we decided to split the pecan praline pancakes. Glad we split it because I could have made a pig out of myself! We will be back! read more

I was there on July 5, 2015. Food is good. The service is the worst I ever had. Waiter's name was Christopher. Took over an hour to get food for a party of 5. None of the food came out together, each person in party received food 15 minutes apart. When we expressed frustration Christopher "the waiter" replied, "it is not my fault, nothing I can do. I only serve the food." I will never be back. Too many other quality restaurants available. read more

We were patrons at the Silver Slipper on 07/11/15 and the food was fantastic; seasoned to perfection. However, the service was horrible. The waiter staff were young girls, not friendly, and they never came around to see if we wanted something; we had to flag them down. I will not let that deter me from going to the establishment one more time to see if things have changed, because I did enjoy the food and the music. read more

I'm only giving this restaurant a 1 star because there is not an option for zero. This is one of the worst experiences we have ever had at a restaurant. Staff looked hung over or miserable to be at work. We asked the waitress if we could look at the regular menu, not brunch, and she said no. We specifically came here to try an appetizer and she said we couldn't. Then finally she said she would ask the cook and came back and said no. We decided to order a sushi roll on the brunch menu as an appetizer. A guy walked up to the hibachi grill. We excitedly said, "Oh look! He's firing up the hibachi!" He looked toward us with detest. We didn't realize he was making our food. Maybe you shouldn't have a glass wall if your employees are so miserable to serve customers. The roll was good but there were no appetizer plates and we had to ask for straws for our drinks. She brought sweet tea instead of unsweetened. Then we ordered pancakes, shrimp and grits and boudin biscuits. The shrimp and grits were the worst. Instant grits with a slice of cheese melted on top and the shrimp looked like they were grilled in blackening seasoning. I'd expect this from a restaurant outside La, not here. They were also supposed to come with a biscuit or toast, but did not. BAD. The pancakes tasted like they came out of a box. The boudin and biscuits were dry and the biscuits tasted like they were frozen. I would not recommend this place and I'm pretty confident that the 5 star ratings are not genuine. read more
