Marmalade is located in Morehead City, NC (my new fav city). It is a busy cafe shop but luckily there was open seating available. The decor was so nice and although busy, they made sure to clear out tables and ensure everything was clean & tidy. This place is more of you order your food and find your own table. They will call out your name and you raise your hand, they will bring it to you. I ordered regular coffee and a bacon egg and cheese on a plain bagel. It was delicious! Staff were great and attentive. My food did take more than 20 minutes to make but once arrived, it was worth it. Found parking right up front. The bathroom was my fav. We are so glad this bakery is not close to home, it's too good!! We had breakfast plates and then took bakery items on the ferry with us. Their chocolate croissants are some of the best we have had anywhere, including France. Everything was so good we went back the next day to get a slice of cake and a mousse. Everything was so delicious. We were driving through Morehead to the Ocracoke Ferry and were very sad our timeline didn't align with their operating hours. A very cute little cafe. We got an assortment of their pastries and one item off the menu, the bourbon bruncher. My husband said it was good and he would get it again. The chocolate croissants and the scone were a tad over baked but the cruffin and cinnamon roll were delicious! We will definitely go back for the cinnamon rolls. Absolutely divine! We loved Marmalade when they were in Beaufort and are so glad they've reopened again, but now in MHC. The new place is big, bright and cheery with friendly and welcoming staff. We went today for brunch and knew it was a good sign that so many others were also there DURING the heavy rains/blustery winds of the nor'easter! We were NOT disappointed. Our meals were served quite quickly and they were delicious. We had a bagel sandwich and the avocado toast. We ordered the blueberry cheesecake and apple streusel as takeaway, having had them before in their previous Beaufort location. Decent bakery that seems to excel in cooked meals. When we arrived around 1045 on a Sunday, most of the breakfast baked goods were empty. Would have loved a croissant or scone but none to be found....had to settle for some streudel, served nearly ice cold, too flat, suuuuper gloppy. Service was sloooooooow - the person at the counter needed to have us repeat our very basic order 5 or 6 times and then the coffee (for 4 people) took nearly 30 minutes to make. They seem really earnest and perhaps some of the staff are new, but a case filled with sliced cake at 1045 and just about nothing else? Not really our cup of tea. Hope they see the popularity of the grab and go breakfast items and keep more available before noon at least! read more

Marmalade Cafe has blown it out of the park again! I did a review back when they were in Beaufort, but they need a new review at their newer location in Morehead City! The food continues to be outstanding, and they seem to have a larger menu! Yummy looking pastries in the display case. I chose a blueberry n ricotta strudel. Sadly, it was served SO cold it was not enjoyable. Fifty cent "cup charge" for water with my meal. Coffee is an affordable $2.25, serve yourself. Menus are in slots as you walk in, then you order, then they yell out your name when the order is ready so you can walk up and get it. Yet there is a tip jar (?) It was not crowded. Walking the orders out would be more customer-focused. On the plus side, the serving of eggs and the bowl of grits were plentiful and the grits outstanding. Clean and inviting dining area. read more

From what appears to be entrance to a small coffee shop/bakery you're further mistaken by the cafeteria style ordering counter and old time register,seems like side by side . Then after you order the magic begins . As you are lead into the restaurant size seating. told to serve yourself coffee. Have a seat anywhere they will bring the food. Then, the magic really begins when the food arrives . French toast with luxurious content and toppings . Like something that would be served to the king and queen of England . Marmalade Cafe is a nice breakfast and coffee spot in Beaufort. The food last week was delicious and the service was ok. They were packed and understaffed and we were told it would take a little more time to get out order which was fine. There is plenty of seating inside and some outside on the porch. The breakfast menu is small currently with 4-5 items but they all looked good and you'll be able to choose something. The bakery items were on display in the case and the two we chose were fantastic. read more

Marmalade Cafe & Bakery is located in Downtown Beaufort on Front Street. The cafe is on the first floor of the Thomas Duncan House built in 1856. A fire in 2019 caused damage to the building but it has been restored and now home to this delightful cafe. You order at the counter and then find a seat in one of the rooms. The staff will call your name when your order is ready. You bus your own table as well. The breakfast menu has a breakfast sandwich; quiche; avocado toast; creme brulee waffles; omelettes; French toast, eggs your way and bagels. I went with the eggs your way which was two eggs; bacon or sausage and grits and toast. The sweet breakfasts were tempting. I enjoyed what I ordered although the bacon was burnt and shouldn't have been served. I tried to go back in the afternoon to try the pastries as they were to be open to 7pm but they were closed. Found this place in the heart of Beaufort, tucked away in a old house in the commercial district. Staff was friendly and helpful. You order at the counter and they call your name when your order is ready! I had an iced brown sugar latte and my husband had an iced Siren (basically a caramel macchiato). Both were delicious! Not sure I recommend the coffee as there are some better coffee shops within walking distance. But the counter items are delicious. Recommend the blueberry sticky bun for sure. The cream cheese strudels are fabulous. So if you have a sweet tooth for breakfast this should be considered. read more

My boyfriend and I came here back in November of 2022. He had to go to NC for a work trip and his company was nice enough to put us up in the Beaufort Hotel. The food here was excellent. Not your typical style restaurant. You order at the register and find a table and patiently wait for your number to be called. I got an omelette with cheesy grits and my boyfriend got one of there specials at the time. One of the only places I would recommend in the Beaufort area (Clawson's is good as well). This area needs a place like this. Such a cute cafe! The food and drinks were delicious. We had black iced coffee and an iced latte. Both were excellent and refreshing. The latte wasn't too heavy or too sweet, really a perfect balance for a hot day. The bakery items were yummy as well. The interior is simple but cozy. Everything was very clean, including the restrooms. The staff was kind and welcoming and very patient while my kids changed their minds 100 times picking out pastries.
