I have been going over to Sol for over a year now and this is the first time i have really stuck with anything consistently going 4-5 times a week. I always rolled my eyes at people when they said Crossfit is a "community", but I just didnt understand it until I became a part of it. The people are truly inspiring. Of course it was a little intimidating at first, I was starting something brand new and there is so much to learn. Once I realized that everyone there is focused on themselves (not you), my mindset completely changed. The coaches seriously care about your well being and help you get better without being pushy. I started here with a foot injury that stopped me from being able to do something of the things, but the coaches always adjusted the workout for me without me even having to ask. Sol also plans three workouts every day based on skill level, which makes everything scaling to your level of fitness extremely easy. I cant say enough good things about this place and would highly recommend it to anyone, no matter what your fitness level it. read more

I had never tried CrossFit and told people I never would because its "way too expensive" and "you'll just get injured because they don't care about form"... Then after watching the CrossFit Games and seeing those elite athletes competing, it confirmed in my brain that I had no business stepping into a CrossFit gym. After 2 years, my friends finally talked me into trying it and I now I wish I would've just listened to them and started 2 years earlier! Worth every penny. There was absolutely no reason to be intimidated, and now I know that CrossFit is well and truly for ANYONE, no matter age, size, shape, or experience. I had a bad knee injury when I started, made sure to tell the coaches about it on my first day, and they listened to me. Through the training and coaching I received at Sol, my knee was actually rehabbed completely. These coaches know what they are doing and are super focused on making sure my form is accurate so I don't injure myself. When you're new, you start in a foundations group which is key and they have it at available for every class of the day. I'm nearly at my 1yr mark and am down 4 sizes, stronger than I ever thought possible, doing things I never imagined being capable of doing, and am in the best shape I have ever been in my whole life. I was a college athlete and wish I would've had Crossfit training while I was competing back then. It definitely would've improved my performance. I highly recommend this gym to any one. read more

I've been coming to Sol since October 2016 and I haven't missed a week since. This gym truly cares about the members and wants to see you succeed. I walked in on my first day skeptical but sick of LA Fitness and ready for a change. I was still recovering from ankle surgery and had just finished PT. Looking for something to challenge me, but also that could guide me as I was starting at square one, was important. I chose Sol based on the reviews and I couldn't be happier with my decision. I started in their functional fitness class (aka F3) which was designed specifically for newbies to CrossFit, including people like me who couldn't even do a push up or hold a plank for longer than 3 seconds. Yeah I was that weak! Over the weeks I began to feel stronger, my back pain was subsiding, and my lung capacity was increasing. I was getting better and better each day I stepped in the gym. That feeling and the encouragement from my coaches was what kept me coming back. My annual physical this year was truly an eye opener as my blood work revealed a much healthier person on the inside. I feel good, I look good, and I feel like daily life is so much easier with these new muscles I've gained! I attribute this to the time I've spent doing CrossFit at Sol. If you're curious about starting CrossFit but intimidated by the crazy videos on YouTube, come to Sol! I've been a member at Sol CrossFit for over two years now and everything I had to say in my initial review still rings true. In addition to feeling comfortable and gaining confidence in my abilities in this time, I have also made some really terrific friends! If you had told me two years ago that getting up before dawn to work out would be the highlight of my day, I would have tossed a fistful of Cheetos at you. I highly recommend this gym. If you're on the fence about trying Crossfit, come in and talk to one of the coaches. You'll see there's no reason to be intimidated and there are people of all skill levels and athletic abilities. Sol has a wide range of classes - programming for someone who is brand new to Crossfit all the way up to programming for people who want to compete. I travel for work and have probably been to 40+ Crossfit gyms. Sol Crossfit is definitely in the upper echelon of gyms I have visited. Lance (the owner) truly wants to help people move better and get stronger and you can see this in many aspects of the gym. Lance truly wants his members to stay engaged and they offer olympic lifting classes in partnership with Olympia Weight Lifting. Austin Beyers (who is a nationally recognized athlete) leads these classes and is truly invested in helping the members make gainzzz. The prices are competitive and there are a ton of member activities to meet other people in the gym. Give it a shot, and you'll be happy you did! read more

This is one of the most welcoming and fun Crossfit gyms I've been to (and I've been to a lot). I have lived many places and traveled quite a bit for work so I've tried many Xfit gyms and fitness centers. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable (very attentive to your needs and personal goals). The programming is great (challenging and fun - I like both); I already feel more fit in less than one week. The members are very nice and helpful and the entire space has great energy and is clean! Sol has a lot more to offer than just classes which is really nice. The owner Bryon goes above and beyond to make you feel like part of the family here. I love it! Definitely 5 stars. read more

I am new to Crossfit but heard great things about this place and was looking forward to the new experience. Unfortunately, the trainer for the day stood back, with his arms crossed, looked me up and down as I stood in the doorway with that "I'm clearly new" look on my face, failed to welcome me, overheard me ask a nearby member whom the instructor was, and proceeded to wait for me to approach and greet him. He never uncrossed his arms and was extremely dismissive and unfriendly. There is a 50 burpee penalty written on the board for not greeting new members; total mind ****. I actually waited a moment for class to begin before realizing how disrespected and undervalued I felt as a potential new member. read more

We are avid workout fanatics and crossfitters. On a whim, we decided to check out Sol. While the programming was good, the instructor offered no support or guidance for our first drop-in at this location. There was no encouragement from her and we were left wondering if our workout wouldn't have been better if we just would have looked at the WOD online and did it on our own. This is my favorite place in the Phoenix area!! That is coming from a total wine-o and foodie. I first dropped into Sol back in March, and from that day, I have called this place my home. The community at Sol is PERFECT for a Crossfit Box. If it is your first time doing Crossfit, this is the perfect place to do it as you will not feel intimidated but more like you belong to a family of motivated individuals! If you are an experienced crossfitter, this is also the best place to come as the programming is beneficial and planned, and the coaches are knowledgeable and care about your gainz! Different than any crossfit gym you've ever been to. From the moment you walk in the door one of the many coaches greets you immediately and gives you the tour of the gym. Pointing out all their unique amenities available to all members. Not only does the support and motivation from the coaches set SCF apart from it's competitors but encouragement from the other friendly members definitely creates a very welcoming community feel. Was in Phoenix for an army class for a week. I dropped an email before coming... Received a very prompt response from Lance. He was very welcoming when I came in, showed me around and I jumped right into the wod. It's always nice to learn something new and different from your home box. I learned a lot in a week from the very knowledgable coaches here (I got to meet three different coaches, all really awesome). HIGHLY recommend if you are dropping in. I started Sol Crossfit in July 2017 after retiring from ASU. I considered myself pretty fit for a 60 year-old--I ran two miles a day, lifted light weights, did sit-ups, lunges and squats. But after sitting at a desk for 20 years, I was tight. I had chronic neck and upper back problems that limited my mobility. After talking to the owner, Lance, and a couple of coaches at Sol Crossfit, I decided to give it a try. Injury was my biggest concern, but Lance and the other coaches assured me they would work with me and modify anything that I wasn't ready for. Within two weeks, I knew Crossfit was the right "fit" for me. It took a lot of time and patience (both on the coach's part and my body because of my lack of mobility), but after two years of going 3 to 4 times per week, I can testify it has changed my life. Because most of the workouts concentrate on core, glute, and leg strength, everything is easier for me--getting up from a chair, squatting, or picking up heavy things (like grandchildren ). My back spasms have pretty much stopped. My neck pain is gone, and my mobility has increased in ways I couldn't imagine. Besides the positive changes in my mobility, strength, and body, I really enjoy the community at Sol Crossfit. Every coach takes a personal interest in me, and my "Sol-Mates" are encouraging and have become friends. It's easy to go. When I tell people about it, I usually get the response, "It's too expensive." My answer is always twofold--1) How many people do you know have a gym membership and never go? and 2) I consider it health insurance. If I'm going to live into my 90s as my maternal grandmother did, I want to feel good doing it. My family is very encouraging and make fun of me when I use all of the acronyms for the different workouts, but they see how it's made a difference in me both mentally and physically, and they're happy for me. read more

Sol is a great place to work out whether it's just to drop in because you're visiting Phoenix, coming over from another gym or starting crossfit straight from the couch (that was me!). The coaches are really supportive and genuinely care about your progression. They've got some great equipment (rogue almost everything, assault bikes, skiergs, etc) and the other people are pretty great as well. It can be intimidating to enter a gym you're not familiar with but everyone makes an effort to introduce themselves to newbies. If you're looking for a place to workout and have a good time, Sol Crossfit will not disappoint. read more

This is the best CrossFit gym I've ever been to. They care a whole lot about meeting you at your fitness level, while also challenging you to grow as quickly as you are able. All the coaches are super welcoming and kind, and the workouts are leveled into about four different tiers so that you can absolutely work at a difficulty level that is safe for you. I grew up in Arizona and moved out of town for work. While living out of town I got heavy into Crossfit. The community environment was the biggest thing that got me hooked and Sol Crossfit is no exception. I was back in town and they allowed me to drop in and welcomed me with open arms. I never had any desire to try crossfit, but a good friend of mine talked me into trying it. Long ago I lost interest in "regular" gyms but was needing something to pair with running/hiking/biking to help with toning and regain muscle. I'm so glad I tried it, and even more glad this is the gym I tried! The people are what make it awesome- the coaches are super nice and friendly, and genuinely care about your health, fitness, goals and progress. They teach you form and don't push weight on you until you have it right, which is important. The members are all great too. Even if you are shy, you will make friends and feel comfortable quickly. There are different levels of workouts for each session, and even the most out of shape or most fit people could get a good workout in. Sol (& coaches) has really motivated me and I'm excited to see my progress. This place also gets mad bonus points for being dog-friendly! Definitely worth checking out! read more

As a serial quitter I never stuck with anything because of laziness or lack of motivation. I tried a groupon for sol at the beginning of the year and I can honestly say it changed my life. I stopped wasting time at the gym pretending to work out and now I wake up sore every day. I took a break for a couple of months and when I came back I thought people were going to judge me for being a slacker but it legitimately felt like they were happy to see me. Everyone makes you feel like part of group and are super motivating. they ar e great at encouraging you at the end of a work out to make you feel proud of yourself and actually keep coming bak.
