Use to live in Reedsport, never realized how good their food really is. We have been back to Reedsport a few times since we left over 10 years ago. This place is probably the best Mexican food I've ever had! The Machaca dish is absolutely amazing and delicious, it's my personal favorite. Tried many of the dishes here and not one of them was ever bad. They were all really good. Their service is awesome, and if you're there around your birthday it's a great place to go. They give you a giant sombrero to wear and take your picture. There is good amount of seating but the place is popular and can fill up quickly. They do an awesome job though of not making people wait and getting everyone takin care of! Shout out to Sol! Have to try if you're in the area. read more

We ate here recently for the first time. The restaurant is very festive inside which was cute. Chips and Salsa were okay, I ordered the Cheese Enchilada plate. I wasn't impressed. The cheese was definitely out of a bag. It was not good. My husband ordered the Fish Tacos, they were weird, it was chopped up fish of some sort? Usually when I order fish tacos they come grilled or battered and fried. These were cut up and NOT good. They had a very fishy taste. He couldn't eat them. Overall the service was okay, they were friendly. But we will never eat there again. read more

This is hands down the best Mexican restaurant in the area! Their menu is extensive and varied compared to the more standard offerings of most of their competitors on the Central Coast. Love seafood? Most people don't think of going to a Mexican place for seafood, but Sol de Mexico has way more than the usual shrimp quesadillas. I especially love the Sopa de Mariscos, chock full of crab, scallops and prawns in a slightly spicy tomato-based broth. The atmosphere is cozy and the staff are friendly and attentive. read more

We live 30 minutes away and it's worth the drive coming here for authentic, delicious and fresh Mexican food. The staff is so friendly and at this point remembers my family's order haha. Went to Sol de Mexico with a large group on a weekday and was pleasantly surprised that they were able to seat us all together at one long table. They took our drink orders first and then came back to take our food orders. I had the Coconut in the Lime Marguerita and it was so yummy. For dinner I ordered the shrimp enchilada dinner which was so doggone delicious I can't wait to come back and try it again. All the folks around me said their dinners were very good too. At the end they gave each couple a separate check which made it very easy to pay. So really good food and drinks in a charming atmosphere. Win win read more

I've been going here for years, and I can't remember a bad meal. This family owned restaurant is very popular with the locals, so you'll often see people waving at each other as they come in. I went here recently with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday. Everyone had drinks, mostly margaritas of some kind, which are fairly sweet, but most people liked them. I had the fajita with shrimp which was served on a sizzling plate, along with a separate plate with my rice and refried beans, and a container with my tortillas. It was fun to build my own fajita, adding the ingredient that I wanted, and they tasted great. Everyone commented on how much they enjoyed their meal, so it was a fun celebration. The service was friendly, but slow. They were very busy, with most tables filled even though it was a Thursday evening. I often order at the To-Go drive up window. This can be a bit slow since you have to wait to get to the window to order, so calling ahead can be useful. The atmosphere is casual with booths and simple Mexican decor. Fine for a casual date, or if you bring kids, or on your way through town after a day at the beach. Overall, I'd consider this one of the better Mexican restaurants in the area. If you want to get a to-go order, you can take it up to Winchester Bay and eat in your car overlooking the bay. read more

Visiting the area and had a large group which was split up, to be expected. Once already seated, another group showed up to the restaurant and our grandparents were asked to move to another table which was inconvenient. Food came out quick and was really delicious! Waiting staff was mostly super nice and efficient. The one who took our order wasn't too welcoming or pleasant which made us feel like we were a nuisance. That was disappointing. Asked for nachos with just cheese but that's not an option so we paid the loaded nachos price for non-loaded. Could be cool to expand the menu to accommodate a bit. Had to track down staff for a few refills too. Nice place to come for some good Mexican food otherwise. Make sure your group is small and you don't want plain cheese nachos or soda. Bathrooms are not in-house but around the back of the restaurant. read more

Hot food served on hot plates.. very importante with Mex. Friendly seating, warm chips and cold salsa to start. Very clean and professional staff. Large portions, true fresh flavors with a fried jalapenyo on the side. The Sopitas are rather unusual, made to order and very homey. They are flexible with the combo dinners if you want a green instead of red sauce etcetera. Later that week I saw the chef on the crab pier fishing with his kids. Gave me some tips about fishing the jetty. Stop at the restaurant whenever passing through. As a former cook/chef I appreciate the care he puts into his culinary talents and hospitality provided. read more

Passed through Reedsport on the way to Coos Bay, and ate here twice in two days, going both directions, because it was delicious, fast, AND vegetarian friendly. This is one of those mom and pop shops that doesn't put on any airs, but does a good solid job of their food, with fresh ingredients and incredibly generous portions. They have a drive-through right now and they give you huge platters of food in the most massive containers, you feel like you're catering an event. Warm homemade tortilla chips straight from the fryer, fresh salsa with scallions, comforting rice and beans. And to find this place in a smallish town without many vegetarian food options was a surprise and a real treat. Recommended eating spot: the elk preserve nearby! Enchiladas and elk herds make for a great picnic. read more

Disappointed! We were so hungry for Mexican food that we searched & drove 30 miles to get here. It started well with chips & salsa- and HUGE margarita (not great but not bad) and a beer in a very frosted glass made us think it would be our new place. I love albondigas soup so was excited to see it on the menu. It was a giant bowl (enough for 2). It tasted horrible though-like they dumped a can of tomato sauce instead of a light tomato broth. So bad! And the meatballs were mushy with tons of rice. My husband ordered chicken fajitas and I got a combination dinner with 2 chili rellenos. The tortillas came out way before the food so we're cool when the flak it's came. The fajitas were wet-like they were marinated & steamed instead of being browned. The flavor was just ok but hubby thought it was too salty-and tons of green peppers & onion and less chicken. I get chili rellenos everywhere but this is the first time I didn't finish them. They had a funky cheese that tasted fake to me-and almost no sauce. They did bring a couple of sweetened flour tortilla chips with whipped cream but we were so disgusted because our check was $53 something! High for Mexican food here & crazy for food we thought was so bad. read more

First impression was very positive. The woman working right when they opened on Saturday was wonderful and positive and welcoming. We ordered food to go and requested chips and salsa while we waited and were pleased to get not only fresh hot chips and salsa, but some awesome peppered cabbage, as well. Super good. Unfortunately, the food just didn't hit the mark for me. I usually go pretty simple with most Mexican places and got a cheese quesadilla and side enchilada with chicken. The quesadilla was disappointing; there was cheddar cheese used in it and the tortillas weren't cooked using any oil, so it was just a dry cheddary circle of sadness. The enchilada was good because it was covered in cheese, but the chicken inside had a bunch of tiny bones and tasted really funky like the chicken they used to make it was cheap and old. My man had about the same experience with his special burrito with chicken. The guacamole was on the verge of being awesome, but I think they use some weird, rancid-tasting black pepper in it that threw off the entire flavor. If I'm in Reedsport again, I would like to give them another chance with some seafood. read more

Owner is a very nice, hard-working lady who took great care of me. Food was good start to finish. I always taste the refried beans to judge, anyone can open a can and serve that, these had authentic flavor that I loved. Portions were quite adequate and prices excellent. This is a great little place, we went in for lunch on Sunday. I've literally never been served a colder beer, a Modelo that came with a frozen glass mug. The serving sizes are huge, easily enough for a second meal. One friend had the veggie burrito, which was fresh and well seasoned. Another had a Chile relleno and burrito, while I had the Fajitas Mixtas, with prawns, halibut, and scallops properly cooked and seasoned beautifully.
