This place was delicious. They accommodated us sitting outside, but we had to remind someone we were out there waiting to be served. I had the spam musubi, which is a must try if you come here. The Ahi poke was also fresh and delicious.

Cute place Nice sized menu - lots to choose from Staff seems lovely Big money California roll 5/5 Ice cold beer House fried rice- was very savory, but not a good choice for me. Seemed too busy-- but I recognize others may love it!! Decor seems fun !

Great vibes, music, bar, staff and food. It's a small place with beach shack vibes, walls and ceiling colorfully decorated with surfboard, flags and other treasures. Especially nice to see a reconstituted sovereign flag flying. The wait was a bit long but it was so worth it. I really recommend the Mai tai and Pele's chicken. Generous portions and great grill flavor. The staff really made the place shine. Mahalo!

My friends and I had lunch at the Hukilau and enjoyed it. The portions were gigantic and filling, and my order came with ribs and prawns. It was a little bit on the expensive side, but so was everything else in that region. The interior of the restaurant made you feel like you were in Hawaii - it had surfing decor and a surf town vibe to it. The service was good - the food came fast!

Music and food. Don't drive past, if you do, turn around. You have nothing else to do that is more important. Staff is great and love this place they represent. We come here every time we are on the coast. Loco moco is perfect. Drinks from the bar are beach perfect.

Best food hands down!!!! Uncle Mikey was so hospitable and inviting! We felt like family. Our bartender/server was equally amazing! Must visit to have the Korean ribs!!!

Excellent and festive pina colada and rum punch to celebrate my birthday!

The Hukilau is my "Happy Place" restaurant. The atmosphere is so fun and festive. I love the Hawaiian shirts and surfboards on the ceiling. It's fun to see big screen TVs showing surfing, fishing and boating around the islands. The menu is varied, and the food is very good, especially the sushi. If you're going there for dinner, make sure you get there a little early. It can be busy and they close at 6:30.

Visited Oakshire to get some food and found this Hawaiian truck we hadn't tried yet…read more We were excited to see a menu that was a little different from the other 2 Hawaiian trucks in town and a very reasonable price ($15 got 2 scoops of rice, slaw or Mac salad and a huge portion of the main protein). I tried the Cod Katsu plate because I have never seen a fish katsu before and was intrigued. This was a VERY good dish. The Katsu crust was super crunchy and held up well to the deliciously spicy katsu sauce and the juice from the slaw without ever getting soggy. The fish was nice and juicy and cooked perfectly. My only complaint is that there wasn't enough katsu sauce and I had to request more. My wife tried the Pork Bulgogi plate. It was very flavorful and tasty but the meat was so full of fat and gristle it was hard to eat. She tossed half the meat, that's why I took off the 5th star from this review. We'll definitely try them again, we'll be sharing the garlic tofu dish next time!

So glad we found this gem of a stop on our way back to the Bay Area from Portland!…read more This place is very kid friendly, which we were so thankful for since we have 3 kiddos 6 & under. There are a few games for the kids to play outside, and they have a little table for toddlers inside. And the thing I appreciated the most was the changing table in the bathroom! A clean changing table can be hard to come by during a road trip so I was truly thankful for that. The staff was very friendly and the food came out quickly. My kids liked their Teri Chicken, my Bahn Mi was LOADED, and my husband liked his spring rolls. Very convenient stop, especially since there is a gas station near by. We'll definitely be back on our next trip up North!!

If you're lucky, sometimes they have Traditional Kalua pig on the menu! Its always SO tender and flavorful, and comes on a bed of rice. Nate 2026 Newport, Oregon…read more Came here based on recommendations from somebody in Bend, Oregon, and a local. I will start by saying I was not impressed. We had a reservation and they took us in a few minutes early and sat us upstairs. We sat near the window that overlooks the harbor and could see it from our table. Very pretty. There is a bar area and other tables that are away from the window that don't have the same view. When we were approached by the waitress, she informed us that they were out of Dungeness crab. Our reservation was at 6:15 PM. Seems a bit odd that a town known for Dungeness crab and the restaurant doesn't have it during peak dinner hours. My husband ordered a cup of clam chowder, and I ordered a cup of the Dungeness crab soup. I loved the creaminess of my soup. However, it was not served hot. Also, there were so many shells in my soup that every bite I had to remove one from my mouth. I do believe that the roux sauce had too much flour and was not mixed well. The clam chowder was not creamy, but had a good flavor. Chunks of carrot and celery. Both soups were served with a portion of bread. The bread was good. We shared the salmon dish. We asked our waitress if we could have the peas on the side as my husband has an allergy to peas. She was quick to tell me that there would be no substitutions. I informed her I was merely asking for the peas to put on a separate dish when brought to the table. She said that she would need to clear it with the kitchen first. Apparently, they approved, as the peas were served on the side. We did enjoy the salmon. It is cooked, medium rare. However, the middle of the salmon fillet was more rare. The buttery sauce was delicious and the asparagus was cooked very well. The mushrooms were delicious. The restaurant is very casual. The outside is not much to look at. The service was fine, but not exceptional. The food was good, but my expectations were so much higher for all of the accolades I had heard prior to dining. They add an automatic tip of 20% to every tab. Then on the bill, they politely ask for an additional gratuity. See the picture of the reason for their 20% gratuity on each bill in the photos that I have attached. I would give this restaurant four stars. It is a B rating for what should be an A restaurant.
