Two Shrimp tacos

Back again -- 4 years later. Still great food, great service and great view. Enjoyed shrimp tacos and a delicious margarita! Highly recommend this waterfront restaurant.

Ultimate margarita on the deck

Stopped by for drinks on a wonderful Sunday afternoon while visiting Florence. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat on the deck outside to enjoy the sun and view.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We all ordered margaritas. I opted for the ultimate margarita with the orange liqueur. Margaritas were a nice size and very refreshing. We ordered chips and salsa. The chips were fresh and the salsa chunky and tasty. Our server did a great job.

Travelers Cove is a Mexican/American restaurant in Old Town Florence. Walking in it's a very casual relaxed atmosphere that seems popular with the locals. A small full bar is to your immediate right as you walk in. Towards the back are dining booths as well as tables on the back deck that overlooks the Siuslaw River. The staff are welcoming and friendly. There were no seating signs so we helped ourselves to a booth. The interior as a whole seems a bit worn but very clean. We were given menus and drink requests were taken. The booths are roomy enough and the walls have art from various local artists, some of the works are for sale. We started with an order of Calamari. It is nicely breaded in a lightly seasoned batter that is light and very crispy. The calamari itself is very tender and not tough. There was a generous amount that came with fries on a platter with ramekins of marinara and ranch for dipping. The fries are also a good variation of standard size fries that are either baked, or they were dredged with flour before frying. In either case, they were crispy and delicious with no greasy oil. The clam chowder was interesting in that it was very light, yet thick and creamy. The ingredients seemed fairly simple with clam, potato and traces of celery, yet the flavor profile was competition quality. I found myself wanting more. It was so smooth with no grittiness or sand, just an outstanding flavor with no fish oil taste. The chowder came with a slice of beer bread that resembles corn bread in texture and is toasted nicely. The Bacon and Pepper Jack burger came on a toasted sesame seed bun with grilled onion, fresh tomato, lettuce and strips of bacon. The patty itself was prepared medium well and had a seasoned taste that really brought out the flavor of the beef. The pepper jack cheese flavor was almost missing but the burger as a whole was a big hit in presentation, preparation and flavors. It was a very satisfying burger and it also came with the same crispy fries. All in all, the food was a very good quality and puts the comfort in comfort food. Because the food flavors here are so good, I'm going to use the tired old line and say Yes. I WILL be back for more!

Fish tacos are so flavorful and so were the rice and beans. Services is great and they are on top of getting you refills. My family loved their food as well. We loved that their chips are warm and we loved the salsa. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is nice, during the meal they turned on music, it was different and not your typical Mexican restaurant music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We will definitely be back to try other food.

Decided to give this place a try as our favorite place in Florence had closed down. I was glad we…read moredid. We had the Clam Chowder and Jambalaya Pasta dish. Both were outstanding and way better than I expected. To be honest, the pasta dish was one of the best I have ever had and this is one dish that I am critical of because I have had really good Jambalaya pasta and some bad ones. This one was way way up there. The sausage was excellent and the chicken and shrimp were perfect, but the sauce made the dish. I can not wait to have it again. The whole staff was friendly and our waitress was excellent and very helpful. My only regret was not asking for a window seat when we got there. We had a reservation and there was a table by the window that was open, but we got seated by the entrance. A couple that walked in after us with no reservation got the table by the window which was odd. Again, not a deal breaker and I should have asked to sit there. I definitely would not hesitate to eat here again or recommend it to everyone. I am looking forward to the next visit.

The caprese was great alongside-- I was already full and still housed the house made focaccia and pesto, truly so incredible. for our main we split the cajun salmon with pico de gallo, mashed potatoes, and side caesar salad. delicious!!! I don't even really like caesar salad that much, and theirs is top notch. they split our plate for an extra $3 and it was plenty after appetizers. lastly, interiors: our table was perfect. they sat us right by the window on the water for sunset. I was only in florence for the night and can tell this is the best spot in town!

With a storm blowing in we were craving some clam chowder. Homegrown did satisfy that craving! Unfortunately, service was a little slow because there was only one waiter. Luckily, we were in no rush. Appearance - The warm string lights created a nice, cozy vibe. (Maybe the rained helped too!) Overall, the food was plated well. Taste- Garlic Parmesan fries- mmm so delicious with a yummy aioli to dip them in! Would highly recommend! Caution if you're sensitive to garlic... be aware that the parmesan can easily be mistaken for garlic chunks! Steamers- My husband got this and said it was very fresh and he enjoyed the broth. I tried it but I'm not a huge wine person and to me the broth was very heavy wine flavored. Fried Fish Cod Sandwich- Unfortunately I learned on this outing that I don't really love cod. The fish on this sandwich was not very meaty.

We got menus quickly and were able to place our orders within ten minutes of arriving, a huge improvement from the last place! I ordered the bacon avocado burger with fries and my friend got the patty melt with coleslaw. Our food arrived about 10-15 minutes after ordering and it looked so good! My burger was cooked well and the fries were delicious. The burger was pretty basic and didn't blow me away, but it hit the spot. The patty melt was also great and my friend ate all of it. It was all great! The restaurant space was clean and had plenty of space to move around. It smelled good too, like garlic and butter. The bathrooms were single-person and gender-neutral which I appreciated. There is plenty of street parking so you shouldn't have a problem finding a place to park to get here. All in all I enjoyed this spot! The food was good, the place was clean, and the staff were friendly. Would go back!

I just drove up and down half of the Oregon coast and tried several different supposedly "the best" clam chowder and verified what I already know; out of all of the best, this is the best best. It's real chowder, everything in it is delicious and you could have it as a meal with nothing else. I'll give it a 3.95/4 because I'm going to continue to try to find the best. The atmosphere is also very unique, with all of the firefighter memorabilia, and pub style. But I've never had bad service here and I've been coming back for the better part of 20 years. Try the chowder!!
