Sol Liquor Lounge is one of those friendly great vibes bar. They open at 5 pm. Come early as their seating is limited and there are long lines to order. We incidentally went during the only week in December when they have their boozy eggnog. And that is what we got! 5 stars. Throw in a little nutmeg for a next level spiced drink. We got a basil mint cider too which was fantastic. Highly recommend making the trek to Capitol Hill and experience this for yourself. We got a Veg dim sum in a package deal. Might as well update this review! This place is still the classic neo-noir deco/urban speakeasy with a creative cocktail menu and chill NYC vibe. I was impressed with the menu and appreciated the creativity. I was glad to hear about the thought process around some drinks and that they update the menu with some regularity in a pleasant conversation with the bartender. I was really happy with the, quite interesting, bullion whiskey cocktail I ordered. They have a food menu now. I'm kind of forgetting what they served, but it seemed like pot stickers were maybe on the menu, along with maybe 5 other items. The place was about 3/4 full on a Friday. I noticed the service would bog down for awhile and then free up again, and that seemed to be the pattern for the evening. This is a really vibey gem tucked away in the northwestern end of Capitol Hill, great if you want to get away from crowds or just go to one of the cooler bars in Seattle. read more

5 stars!!! Landing at the airport at 10pm and hungry, we tried to find a place open late to start off our trip in Seattle -- here we went! Immediately walking in, the place itself is cozy but so classy and cute! When we went to order at the bar, the bartender working was really nice! We decided to order the Kung Fu Theater, Libby's Mai Tai, Shrimp Dumplings, Crab Shumai, and the Char Siu Bao. Mr. Bartender had a bit of a heavy pour because those drinks were dangerous!! Soooo good though!! We've never tried japanese whiskey before, but it's a new fave now! The Mai Tai came with a pineapple slice and cherry, and the sweetness of the fruit balanced out the slight sourness of the drink! We LOVED the Char Siu Bao, and the shrimp dumplings and crab shumai were really good, too. We ended up ordering more Char Siu Bao and spicy pork dumplings. Dim sum at a bar is virtually unheard of (to me), so this was a really cool place with good drinks and great food. I wish we had places like this in Vegas! read more

I heard about the aged eggnog online and had to try it. We came the Wednesday before Xmas, before 7pm. We narrowly beat the rush. It's seat yourself and order at the bar. The person taking orders also makes the drinks. He was so friendly and patient. Even as they got busy, he was totally chill and gave attention to every customer. They have dumplings (a wide variety) as the food option. I tried the vegetable dumplings and they were delicious. They came with three dipping sauces. The eggnog was worth the hype! The lounge even though small was not super loud and there was plenty of room for larger groups. The bar tenders were really kind but it is not table service so u have to place all drink and food orders at the bar. The dumplings were delicious and the cocktails had a heavy poor. Hannah was fantastic! I came in on a quieter weeknight and she still brought such great energy. Super friendly, attentive without hovering, and made the whole experience feel easy and welcoming. The cocktails were really well-made too - I had one with "Menagerie" in the name (can't remember the full title), and it was excellent. Also had some delicious pork bao (char siu bao-style) and dumplings that really hit the spot late night. You can tell she really cares about the people she's serving. This spot majorly impressed us! We headed in to have a few drinks while waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant. It was interesting but mostly unassuming from the outside, but inside it's actually a very intimate but casual atmosphere to have drinks with a date or friends. Though they only have snacks, their dumplings are actually pretty good and they had about 10 different kinds, including several vegetarian options too. I loved the leek dumplings and would definitely order them again. Their drinks were also very very good. Kind of more Asian fusion mixed tiki style for drinks and decor than what the photos seemed like. The servers were working hard and probably understaffed, but I was still impressed with how good each drink was and how efficient they were with only 2 of them for a full place. My friends and I trekked over here for cocktails a few weeks ago. Sol is always the first result when I search for bars in Capitol Hill and so I knew we had to give it a try. I thought Sol was a Spanish bar because sol means sun in Spanish, but it's actually an Asian bar with Asian decor and a selection of dim sum. It could be a play on words of the Capitol, Seoul or it could be another way of spelling sul which means snow in Korean. Regardless, it was not what I expected when I walked in. (Update after reading prior reviews, this place was originally called Sun Lounge, but I think they must've either gotten bought out and/or changed their name). We grabbed a table in the back and ordered our drinks at the bar. We also got 5 or 6 orders of shrimp dumplings (each order is $8 and comes with 4 dumplings each). I ordered the Rumplestiltskin because I love chocolate and mint and have never had a hot cocktail before. However, I have to be honest and say that it was probably the worst drink I've ever ordered from a bar; every sip tasted like I was drinking pure Listerine. My friend got the same drink as me and agreed that the mint was overwhelming. Again, I love mint but the ratio of peppermint vodka or peppermint schnapps (or whatever rumpleminz is) to cocoa was way off to the point where I just couldn't drink it :( One of my friends ordered the Mai Tai but said the alcohol to juice ratio was way off as well; he had to request more juice to balance out the bitterness. The only drink my friends enjoyed was the Pedro Paloma, so if you do order a drink, order one of those. Food was honestly marginal. They obviously don't make the food themselves and so they weren't the greatest shrimp dumplings by any means; they probably just reheat them in the back. They were pretty bland without any sauce. However, they were steaming hot when they came out. Service was great and we quickly got our drinks and food. Our waiter was also quick to clear our table. Atmosphere was great as well and had a nice laid back vibe. If only their food and drinks were better :( Overall: 2.5/5 for drinks, 2.5/5 for food, 4/5 for atmosphere read more

We came here for happy hour, which is 5-7 pm daily, and got a couple cocktails. During happy hour, cocktails are $2 off and well drinks and wine are $1 off. The cocktails are unique and tasty. The only reason you would find me in a bar is for tequila. Most bars I have been to carry the same 3 brands which are not the best and more expensive than they are worth. I was pleasantly surprised. I do not remember all the brands they had off the top of my head, but I did remember the following: Fortaleza  Blanco Fortaleza Reposado 7 Leguas Blanco 7 Leguas Reposado Mijenta Reposado Either the person that stocks really cares about the Agave Spirits they stock, or they follow the right Tik Tok Page. Either way, it's a win for anyone looking for a good tequila to sip on. The ambiance was really relaxed, and I loved the decor. It was a nice place to sit, sip, and drink. Decent cocktail bar with rotating cocktail flights menu (when I visited, they did the negroni flight). I have had negroni before so I opted to go for their summer cocktail menu - Hotel Nacional which was a fruity pineapple type of drink served with lime, in a tall glass. It was quite refreshing and strong. Because I had a few drinks already earlier in the day, I opted to share this drink with a friend, and also tried his mocktail which has a nice spice kick to it on top of the grapefruit. Bartender is generally friendly, a bit hands-off. I wasn't aware that the pretty drinks were only for Tiki Tuesdays, but there are a decent number of tiki bars to go to here, but I would be open to come back just for the Tiki Tuesdays when I am in the area. read more

Cozy cocktail bar in Capitol Hill. I ordered the Spanish G&T and really enjoyed it. The staff was also incredibly friendly -- so refreshing to finally be able to dine in and enjoy experiences like this in person again! The bar doesn't have a ton of tables, but I was able to get a seat without a problem on a Saturday evening. Parking is difficult though, since only street parking is available and it was hard to find a space. The only thing that I would not recommend is their dim sum, since it was on the dry side. Also they made half of the drinks wrong (vodka tonic were made with soda instead of tonic). Not a huge deal but when your check is $173..? At least make the drinks correctly? I don't know. The staff was pretty standoffish and indignant when we asked how our total could possibly be this much. I've been here a few times before, I live in the neighborhood. This is such a cute place and honestly seems perfect a date night! It's in a quiet neighborhood area and the decor inside is so cute. Not only is the atmosphere great, but they mix great drinks. My recommendation is to describe what you want and then just let them make it. Sun Liquor Lounge has a fun and kitschy East-meets-West vibe, with cocktails that sound equally as enticing. Unfortunately, the drinks that we sampled fell short on taste. What a shame - their happy hour (5-7PM daily) deal of $2 off all menu cocktails was what drew me in, but I wish I went somewhere else instead even if it's a little bit pricier. Everyone said their cocktails are great, so I'm not sure what went awry - perhaps a newbie bartender? Anyways, here's what we had: Saint Pablo ($13) - pisco, lime, walnut liqueur, pineapple syrup, rose: I was so disappointed that I could not taste pisco (which normally has a distinctive and assertive flavor) or the walnut liqueur. It just tasted like straight-up rose. Opera ($12) - gin, dubonnet rouge aperitif wine, maraschino liqueur, orange bitters: This was the best cocktail out of them all and it was just okay. The flavors all seemed very pronounced without working together. Cocktail Flight ($12) of Stork Club (gin, lime juice, orange juice, cointreau, angostura), Pendennis Club (gin, lime juice, apricot brandy, peychauds), and Union Club (bourbon, orange juice, campari, marashino): I was really intrigued by the concept of a cocktail flight. We got these three drinks in cute mini Nick & Nora glasses on a wooden board, which made for a great photo op. But I didn't like any of the cocktails personally...the base liquors in each drink completely overwhelmed the other flavors and ended up tasting mostly like straight shots. The mai tai's here are amazing! It's the perfect pick me up on a dreary Seattle day ... if you're looking to get sloshed, that is! Be wary. They are strong and you will be oblivious to this!
