I got in right before a closing rush so they were out of what I really wanted but I was prefaced that this was a better quality chipotle. I had a chicken and rice bowl with a side of guacamole. It was pretty good. Not as flavorful as chip but definitely good. I would say a more authentic, healthy version and they have churros!! The guacamole was great and fresh as can be for a long day. The ladies that served me were kind and helpful despite the rush and the late arrival. The inside gives hole in the wall, it's cute but I'm not sure I would want to eat in there if it wasn't early afternoon. They gave me extra sauce for free

We go here at least once a week! They know my kids by name, and they remember my order! The service is always great! The food is all tasty! I am partial to the burritos, because then I have lunch the next day as well! It's perfect for a group of four because the tables have four chairs, but there are a couple sets of tables. Love this place!

    To go margaritas
    Chell H.

I went to this place because I saw an Instagram post Of their margaritas. So I decided to get a few. The margaritas are actually really good & strong but I gave a 3 star rating because the workers were not friendly at all. The vibe was off. Anywho, I did my part in supporting a small business during the pandemic.

I came here with friends one night and am pleased to see this option on H Street. Note that there are two entrances--the one on the left is to the restaurant and the one on the right is the takeout area with a small seating space. We grabbed a table in the semi-outdoor space (which is nice!). We were quickly brought out chips, although they were cold and tasted old. The salsa was OK, although I wouldn't say it had loads of flavor. I must say that the menu prices are very affordable by DC standards. While the 3 tacos option was listed under appetizers, they served as a full meal in their own right. I had two chicken tacos, which had more cilantro than I would have gone for but were overall solid. The third was a carne asada taco, and the meat was well marinated and not dry. The strawberry margarita I had was fine, but nothing to write home about. All things said, I was neither impressed nor unimpressed with Sol.

The food was EXCELLENT! I had it delivered for lunch and it arrived hot and tasty! The queso was a nice blend of creamy cheese and a great compliment to the house made chips. The taco was a little dry, but it was due to me not selecting a sauce or "wet" topping. I enjoyed carnita taco and wish I had the option to have shrimp as my meat option as I build my taco.

The breakfast burrito is very tasty. The ingredients are fresh and well dispersed. It is one of my favorite breakfast entrees on H street.

It used to be the spot for me and my friends to grab a quick bite and everything about it was exceptional: who can say no to super affordable yet authentic street tacos served on paper plates. Sadly, it closed. Last night, I think I stumbled across a taco spot to finally take the wheel from our dearly missed El Chilango. Taqueria Al Lado is very no frills and a tiny spot, but it has tacos that make your heart sing. My friend recommended the Al Pastor so I got that with a chicken taco as well. Both were super flavorful, fatty, but really fresh and well balanced. The key here is simplicity and they do it perfectly. Each taco was about $4 or $5 if I remember correctly, so it's a great spot to grab food if you're trying to ball on a budget. We got the guac, too, which was good but not life changing; the fresh chips, however, were spot on. As far as service goes, we went on a Friday and it was super busy, but there were plenty of servers if we needed something (just had to be vocal). I will definitely be coming back!

When you first walk in, it seems like it'll be a laid-back brunch, but don't let that fool you. The service was incredibly fast, and the food came out quickly. Everything I tried was delicious! My favorite was a breakfast sandwich served over a hash with an incredible sauce--I was thinking about it long after I left. We also shared an appetizer that was so good we couldn't stop going back for another bite. Just when I thought the great food was the highlight, the entertainment started. The host did an amazing job keeping the entire crowd engaged, the music had everyone singing along, and before I knew it, the whole restaurant had turned into a party. The belly dancer was absolutely mesmerizing and interacted with the crowd so effortlessly, making the experience feel even more special. Between the food, drinks, entertainment, and atmosphere, time flew by. What I thought would be a simple birthday brunch turned into an unforgettable celebration. I'll definitely be back for another brunch--and next time I'll be ready to dance!

Our server, Sama, was the best part of our experience. He was attentive and made many suggestions. However, the food did not live up to any expectations. To start out, we ordered guacamole. Simple, plain guacamole. The guacamole came out covered in bacon. We're pescatarian. The server put it in properly, but the kitchen messed it up. After another 15ish minutes, someone (I'm assuming a manager) brought out the corrected item. It genuinely tasted like premade, store bought guacamole. Next, the pound of Buffalo shrimp that we ordered came out. It was extremely soggy. No crispiness at all. We also ordered an order of fries. When the shrimp was brought out., the gentleman who brought it out asked us if we wanted bacon on the fries (he didn't have any fries with him). Now this is the same gentleman (not our server) who brought out the guacamole with bacon that had to be sent back. After waiting almost another 7-8 minutes, fries finally came out. Now again I say, our server was amazing. He offered to have the shrimp remade because as soon as he saw the shrimp, he said, "That's not what I promised you." We declined as we'd been in the restaurant almost another hour and really just wanted the check. Although our server attempted to make a small bit of the many issues that came with this experience better, with the extensive amount of challenges not one time did management come back to the table to attempt to make anything right. There were significant issues with the kitchen and management of this establishment. We paid the tab and left, but will not be back, nor will I ever recommend this restaurant to anyone.
