I got in right before a closing rush so they were out of what I really wanted but I was prefaced that this was a better quality chipotle. I had a chicken and rice bowl with a side of guacamole. It was pretty good. Not as flavorful as chip but definitely good. I would say a more authentic, healthy version and they have churros!! The guacamole was great and fresh as can be for a long day. The ladies that served me were kind and helpful despite the rush and the late arrival. The inside gives hole in the wall, it's cute but I'm not sure I would want to eat in there if it wasn't early afternoon. They gave me extra sauce for free

We go here at least once a week! They know my kids by name, and they remember my order! The service is always great! The food is all tasty! I am partial to the burritos, because then I have lunch the next day as well! It's perfect for a group of four because the tables have four chairs, but there are a couple sets of tables. Love this place!

I noticed this build your own taco spot while on another review a few weeks ago. A mental note was made to GET THERE!! To go margaritas
    Chell H.

I went to this place because I saw an Instagram post Of their margaritas. So I decided to get a few. The margaritas are actually really good & strong but I gave a 3 star rating because the workers were not friendly at all. The vibe was off. Anywho, I did my part in supporting a small business during the pandemic.

I came here with friends one night and am pleased to see this option on H Street. Note that there are two entrances--the one on the left is to the restaurant and the one on the right is the takeout area with a small seating space. We grabbed a table in the semi-outdoor space (which is nice!). We were quickly brought out chips, although they were cold and tasted old. The salsa was OK, although I wouldn't say it had loads of flavor. I must say that the menu prices are very affordable by DC standards. While the 3 tacos option was listed under appetizers, they served as a full meal in their own right. I had two chicken tacos, which had more cilantro than I would have gone for but were overall solid. The third was a carne asada taco, and the meat was well marinated and not dry. The strawberry margarita I had was fine, but nothing to write home about. All things said, I was neither impressed nor unimpressed with Sol.

The food was EXCELLENT! I had it delivered for lunch and it arrived hot and tasty! The queso was a nice blend of creamy cheese and a great compliment to the house made chips. The taco was a little dry, but it was due to me not selecting a sauce or "wet" topping. I enjoyed carnita taco and wish I had the option to have shrimp as my meat option as I build my taco.

Has its own unique authentic Mexican Taste. No shade but way better than chipotle and the guac is to die for !!

My Carnitas taco was delicious, fresh, large, customized, healthy and filling. I loved it and it was only $3.50.

The breakfast burrito is very tasty. The ingredients are fresh and well dispersed. It is one of my favorite breakfast entrees on H street.

My sister booked the reservation, but didn't verify she had it for the right date so to our surprise we showed up and we're not promised the seat. Fatima and her team didn't want to see us, disappointed, especially on Mother's Day, so they rearrange things and made it work so that our party of four could enjoy Mother's Day brunch. I was pleasantly surprised at how affordable the drinks and food was, but it doesn't sacrifice flavor or thoughtfulness. The food was amazing as well as the welcome shooters. And the entertainment! I had no idea what to expect but it blew me out of the water. It was a 10 out of 10 experience and we danced and danced and danced. I often believe the DC food scene falls flat, but that was not the case with Vera at all! I am so excited that I went, and I am excited to come back one day.

Didn't quite hit the same. The branzino was cooked well technically, but lacked the flavor to back it up but beautiful execution, underwhelming payoff. The lamb chops however were an absolute win! and saved the protein category entirely. Rice was good but arrived cold, which for a large party is understandable but still worth noting. Speaking of large party, we came ten deep, sat together upstairs, and the service genuinely impressed me. Everything came out timely, our server stayed attentive throughout and got orders right across the board. For a table of ten that's no small feat. The upstairs space is a great reminder of why this place draws people in , the decor is lovely from every angle, thoughtfully put together and worth appreciating. The experience wasn't a disappointment, just an adjustment in expectations. I'm still open to returning specifically eyeing the brunch experience to see if that format brings a different energy. Vera Cocina still has potential. Just needs to get back to what made the first impression so strong.
