    Mezcalero @ La Cosecha
    Mellie D.

The food is delicious and the prices are right. The space is small and feels both separate from the rest of La Cosecha but definitely a related part. The servers are often taking orders at the bar and tables so being patient is important. The food and drinks are worth your time! It's a nice place for a quick drink or quick meal....not necessarily a "destination restaurant".

    Ceviche clásico and birria tacos

This bar offers a weekday happy hour from 3-6pm, featuring items from $5 to $9 dollars. I had the ceviche clásico and the birria tacos from the happy hour menu. I paired this with the Viña Las Perdices sauvignon blanc from the regular menu. Everything was pretty good. The service was average, likely because 20% gratuity is automatically added to every bill, reducing the staff's incentive to put in extra effort. Despite the service, I enjoyed my food and would stop by again for happy hour.

Happy Hour 3-6pm. Good & drinks $9 /$8 respectively. Birria is always on pint and the hibiscus margaritas is always FRESH.

Note the $12 in extra charges for chips + salsa plus a side of flour tortillas...

Your favorite Yelp Correspondent arrived at Mezcalero at La Cosecha in a buoyant, triumphant mood, exultant over reuniting with our oldest son Brandon, an ordained minister at GW University and fully ready to reap the very harvest from which "La Cosecha" derives its name. We hadn't seen Brandon since Christmas and had just arrived in our nation's capital to see how he's adapting to relocating his life from sunny Southern California. Tonight's meal was noteworthy on several fronts. The spicy queso served with the chips & salsa is an authentic revelation...so utterly finger-licking good that my gorgeous wifey, a native Michoacana, swiftly ordered a second serving. The three of us ordered fajitas, dueling Fajitas Mexcalero platters for my son and I and my bride chose the shrimp ones. The chicken and asada were 100% on point, juicy, well-seasoned and expertly charred. The chorizos were a nice addition. My girl wolfed down her shrimp fajitas like she'd never seen one, before! Server Camila kept our drinks, by and large, refilled. I say "by and large" because I did have to ask 2-3 times for my second Diet Coke. The Mezcalero is a brightly lit space, featuring gleaming, well polished surfaces and the air is redolent of charred peppers, onions and proteins being deployed in their recipes. The sole reason I cannot, in good faith, award Mezcalero the five-star rating it seriously flirted with? Simple missteps around pricing. I'll elaborate. I've been happily married to this beautiful Michoacana lady for 28yrs and have savored Mexican cuisine from Cozumel to Cabo and literally hundreds of Mexican restaurants, stateside. In the continental U.S., at least, it's highly irregular to charge customers for chips & salsa...even more so to fail to advise us that "Hey, we charge $5 for that- Would you still like it?" Equally jarring was to see how we were charged a $2 surcharge for flour tortillas plus a mandatory 20% gratuity tacked onto my bill. I'm a generous guy, consider myself an excellent tipper. But here's a tip- Why wouldja automatically assess a 20% tip onto my party of three tab without forewarning me? Is this a WDC restaurant policy? Soooo- If Mexcalero at La Cosecha would've given me a heads up concerning any of these various "nickel and dimed" charges which all invariably found their way onto my final bill...I would've felt, at minimum, more at ease. But to just sit back, keep sending out drink refills, chips & salsa plates, sides of tortillas and then indiscriminately smack my final bill with $35 in extra fees (mandatory tip incl) helps me lose the appetite for the harvest, la cosecha, we came to reap.

This is our favorite spot in La Cosecha, do not fail to get (lots of!!!) their salsa verde, it's the best I've ever had!

    Birria tacos

Had a great time at the bar area for their happy hour! Ordered the birria tacos and it was the perfect amount. My margarita was also super yummy. The staff was very friendly and the bar was fun to sit at!

Salmon al Carbon con Camarones and Ceviche Vuelve a la Vida

I went on a Sunday afternoon, the service was amazing, the food was also really good! The server suggested a tamarindo margarita and it was amazing. I will definitely will be back soon!

The best Mexican food in DC! Camarones à la diabla is so delicious. Tried flautas today and they were a hit. This place is the best restaurant at La cosecha.

I LOVE everything about this place!! The vibe is so inviting! And the food is delicious!! Hands down this is probably the best guacamole I've ever had!! I also had a spicy mango margarita which was on point. The flautas were fried to perfection! Most places fry it too hard and the chicken burns, but not at Mezcalero. I also had a Gordita...yummy!! I like how they had cilantro and sautéed veggies in the Gordita. The service was great!! The refried black beans were good too. I will definitely visit here again when in NoMa!!

Oh. My. Goodness. I am absolutely still in shock from how mouthwateringly delicious the pulpo taco was. I can not express how delicious the flavors were, the char of the octopus, the buttery goodness from the fat and the sauce omg the sauce. Ugh. I need 14 of them! All of the food was delicious, my friend got the shrimp tacos and raved about the rice and beans. Definitely flavorful and delicious all around!! The service was great, we got there at about 9 and were seated very quickly, food came out super fast and the server was very attentive. It's in the food court so there were a lot of people hanging out, good music playing and all around great spot to do some work or meet up with friends!

I ate it before I slowed down to take a pic!

Yummy!! Wonderful, fresh, authentic Mexican food! I had the shrimp, chorizo quesadilla...it was soooo good! Served with fresh made guacamole and salsa on a bed of lettuce and sour cream. A dark draft Modelo just made my perfect lunch better! David was our server..friendly, helpful and paid the perfect amount of attention!! ( forgot to take a photo before, but as you can tell, it was wonderful!)

Super delicious and affordable food and drinks. Usually crowded during the weekend, but there is room during the week. And the happy hour menu is decent.
