The elote was solid, with real queso fresco. We also ordered aguachiles with shrimp and it was prepared nicely though when the delivery came the bottom of the bag was soaked with aguachiles water/ citrus. The Jamaica agua fresca was nicely done as well. Overall for legit Mexican in the DC area and for delivery Al Lado was top tier.

It used to be the spot for me and my friends to grab a quick bite and everything about it was exceptional: who can say no to super affordable yet authentic street tacos served on paper plates. Sadly, it closed. Last night, I think I stumbled across a taco spot to finally take the wheel from our dearly missed El Chilango. Taqueria Al Lado is very no frills and a tiny spot, but it has tacos that make your heart sing. My friend recommended the Al Pastor so I got that with a chicken taco as well. Both were super flavorful, fatty, but really fresh and well balanced. The key here is simplicity and they do it perfectly. Each taco was about $4 or $5 if I remember correctly, so it's a great spot to grab food if you're trying to ball on a budget. We got the guac, too, which was good but not life changing; the fresh chips, however, were spot on. As far as service goes, we went on a Friday and it was super busy, but there were plenty of servers if we needed something (just had to be vocal). I will definitely be coming back!

When you first walk in, it seems like it'll be a laid-back brunch, but don't let that fool you. The service was incredibly fast, and the food came out quickly. Everything I tried was delicious! My favorite was a breakfast sandwich served over a hash with an incredible sauce--I was thinking about it long after I left. We also shared an appetizer that was so good we couldn't stop going back for another bite. Just when I thought the great food was the highlight, the entertainment started. The host did an amazing job keeping the entire crowd engaged, the music had everyone singing along, and before I knew it, the whole restaurant had turned into a party. The belly dancer was absolutely mesmerizing and interacted with the crowd so effortlessly, making the experience feel even more special. Between the food, drinks, entertainment, and atmosphere, time flew by. What I thought would be a simple birthday brunch turned into an unforgettable celebration. I'll definitely be back for another brunch--and next time I'll be ready to dance!

Service was limited because it wasn't many people dining in but the one server we had made sure we had everything we needed. The wings were pretty good, I'm not usually a huge fan of bread chicken but these were quite tasty. I do believe the chicken could have been fried a little crisper but they probably didn't want to dry them out! The fries were also really good, I didn't order any but my friend allowed me to try a few and I regretted not getting any! The hallway to the bathroom was a bit yucky and smelly and I felt the restroom could have been cleaner but overall the space was decent.

Our server, Sama, was the best part of our experience. He was attentive and made many suggestions. However, the food did not live up to any expectations. To start out, we ordered guacamole. Simple, plain guacamole. The guacamole came out covered in bacon. We're pescatarian. The server put it in properly, but the kitchen messed it up. After another 15ish minutes, someone (I'm assuming a manager) brought out the corrected item. It genuinely tasted like premade, store bought guacamole. Next, the pound of Buffalo shrimp that we ordered came out. It was extremely soggy. No crispiness at all. We also ordered an order of fries. When the shrimp was brought out., the gentleman who brought it out asked us if we wanted bacon on the fries (he didn't have any fries with him). Now this is the same gentleman (not our server) who brought out the guacamole with bacon that had to be sent back. After waiting almost another 7-8 minutes, fries finally came out. Now again I say, our server was amazing. He offered to have the shrimp remade because as soon as he saw the shrimp, he said, "That's not what I promised you." We declined as we'd been in the restaurant almost another hour and really just wanted the check. Although our server attempted to make a small bit of the many issues that came with this experience better, with the extensive amount of challenges not one time did management come back to the table to attempt to make anything right. There were significant issues with the kitchen and management of this establishment. We paid the tab and left, but will not be back, nor will I ever recommend this restaurant to anyone.
