They even posted this event on their Facebook page! What the heck? Good thing I didn't buy tickets to this event.

Very disappointing that after Dave left that you don't even know if they are open on the weekend. With no info on web site saying they would be closed on Saturday we drove from Sacramento to pick up our wine member shipment and they were closed!!! No signage and the winery next store had no idea. We even called their number and had to leave a message with no return call. I guess it's time for a breakup after more than seven years

When we arrived I was handed menus and told to wait for help as I waited patiently after 25 minutes I saw the waitress help a party that arrived after us. I guess if your not a member or local your not welcomed here. It wasn't busy at all only two other groups were being served. I just wanted to relax and enjoy some wine but it's ok I'll take my business elsewhere. Thank you for not helping me.

The view from Sol Rouge. Had a great time here with my best friend for my birthday. Gabriel was an amazing host! The wine was fantastic!

Had a wonderful time at Sol Rouge. Gabriel was our host and he made so much fun! The scenery was beautiful and the wine was great!

I've been dancin' to Bruno Mars' new seriously hot, hella catchy, ass-shaking singles, "Chunky" and "24k Magic" on repeat for the last week or so. These tracks make me want to gamble and party at casinos with all of my beautiful friends (who would be dressed in silky smooth undergarments) while two-step the s*** out of two-steppin' all night. They make me feel sexy. They give me life. I have this weird urge to go to Vegas, now. This past August, Sol Rouge Winery gave me the same feeling of, "I feel like hot gangsta awesomeness, because I'm on this island in the middle of the Bae Area, drinking wine, watching locals knock bocce ball (so bourgeoise), and picnic-ing with 50+ cheeses deep, all while admiring both the Golden Gate and Bay Area Bridges. Oh, and glass of wine in hand, of course." I felt like Tupac in the "How do you want it," video. Except, people had there clothes on there. Sure, I could individually critique their sips from their vineyards, but I thought their 2013 Gypsey Blanc and 2012 Gypsey Rouge both tasted fantastic. I dunno. My dranks didn't help me win in bocce ball, though. Other tidbits: -There's plenty of free parking on Treasure Island. -If you want to hide from the city's perfect weather, they do have seating inside. -The dude holding it down at the counter at Sol Rouge was very friendly. -You might shake your ass, while holding a glass of wine when you visit. Don't drop your glass. -Prices are reasonable for a glass of wine. You can also work with them to do group packages. Go, go, go and party like a local. And cop that Bruno Mars album when it drops mid-November.

Rose' and Mourvèdre by the glass, highly recommended.

You're on the Bay Bridge, not in a rush to get anywhere, but, nonetheless stuck in traffic and feeling irritated. Time for a break. I have the cure for you. Find your chill out midway. A glass of light red? Sure, try the Mourvèdre. Chilled rose' for a little hot under the collar cure? Yes, gotcha covered. Sitting, inside or out. Take your time getting back on the bridge and do a spin or walk around the island for nothing but amazing views of the city and the Bay Bridge.

Hummingbird at Sol Rouge tasting room. He is the most delightful tasting room host!

Hummingbird gave very informed tasting notes on the wines. I really liked the wines and the entire experience. Thanks for the great time Hummingbird!

A different combo indeed! This was our second wine tasting room on our Treasure Island tasting journey. Out of all the wineries that we tasted at on the island, this was by bar the most casual. Might have been just a little too casual for yours truly, but someone else might really enjoy this aspect. From the outside, this place looks like a mini warehouse. Normally when I see places like this, the outside is pretty deceiving. This one wasn't. Like, it wasn't at all! It was super tiny inside with one couch, a couple chairs and a a little more than a handful of seats at the actual tasting bar. The tasting room is located inside of an old war submarine, and many of its' idealistic features are still very much in tact. It serves as a mini museum in a way too. Sotomarino specializes in Italian Varietals that are made here in California. I'm not sure how Italy's wine climate differs from California, but this was the first time that I've tasted Italian wine that was grown in California. The verdict? I liked some of the wines, but definitely didn't fall in love with any of them. A tasting consists of 5 wines at a cost of $15. This is pretty reasonable, but after tasting at the Winery SF, we felt a little jipped here. I enjoyed tasting some Italian varietals that I had never had before (Lagrein, Dolcetto, Sopraffino). However, the wines weren't really my cup of tea and the lady who was pouring the wine was super skimpy with the pours. She seemed like she was new, but still. I just felt like I didn't get my money's worth of tastings here. Also, their wines are pretty expensive. It would be a different matter if I was actually in Italy and tasting Italian wine. I just thought that they were way too pricey for the quality and style of wines that they were offering. All in all, it was a pretty average experience for me. It wasn't my cup of tea, but I think the casual atmosphere might work from others.

Vie Winery is a excellent tasting room to stop at during your journey. The indoor space is setup like that of a warehouse with a rustic and cozy feel. It's pretty spacious inside and also quite lively compared to the other tasting rooms on the Island. Vie shares an outdoor space with Sol Rouge Winery right next door. Their patio has a bocce ball court and a few chairs to lay out on white you're sipping on your wine. It's the perfect hangout spot on a warm summer day. Vie's tasting menu consists of 5 tastes of their current selection for $15. They specialize mainly in reds and red blends which is what they're known for. They did have one white wine on the menu which was a Roussane that I really didn't care for. It tasted like a beer which I found extremely odd. However, I was really impressed with their red blends. Their bottle prices are actually pretty reasonable, and if you don't want to purchase a bottle, you can always buy wine by the glass. Service from ". " was excellent! It's a sophisticated, intimate pocket of wine country tucked away in the lobby of one of the city's most historic hotels. Mr. Chiang was a wonderful and most gracious host. He shared the story of the "judgement of Paris", which is what had me drawn to the tasting room. As a somm, I am fully aware of the story, but I don't recall ever having the wine before. And as a big fan of Bourgogne, I took advantage of the opportunity to try the famous chardonnay. Simply put, it's reminiscent of a Grand Crus Bourgogne... something from Montrachet but with a little more sunshine. No wonder the judges picked them! And the rest of their wines were no less impressive. When you swirl a glass of their Cabernet, you can taste that distinct Calistoga "dust" and the structure that comes from their specific hillside vineyards. I've always considered graphite and cassis the hallmark of a good cab, and both are present in their 2013 cab. Still youthful, vibrant, and very balanced with the perfect tanning. The Riesling deserves a shout out because it's beautiful. If you are a fan of GG Mosel Riesling, then this wine will give you a run for your money. Lastly, their 2023 Zinfandel is brilliant and youthful, but can definitely use another 5-8 years to add more layers and complexity. But if you like fresh red fruits with a hint of darker berries mixed with the same volcanic dust notes as the Cab, this would be a great choice! It's a testament to their winemaking that the sense of place travels so well in the bottle. And when the opportunity arises, I would like to be able to visit the chateau and breathe in the terroir...
