If you've never wine tasted on Treasure Island before, you should totally give it a try. It's a wine tasting experience that's unlike any other, and far from the typical experience that you'd receive at a vineyard or tasting room. For one thing, you'll have a glorious view of the Bay Bridge in the forefront and the San Francisco Bay practically beneath your feet. It's pretty mesmerizing I'll tell ya! Vie Winery is a excellent tasting room to stop at during your journey. The indoor space is setup like that of a warehouse with a rustic and cozy feel. It's pretty spacious inside and also quite lively compared to the other tasting rooms on the Island. Vie shares an outdoor space with Sol Rouge Winery right next door. Their patio has a bocce ball court and a few chairs to lay out on white you're sipping on your wine. It's the perfect hangout spot on a warm summer day. Vie's tasting menu consists of 5 tastes of their current selection for $15. They specialize mainly in reds and red blends which is what they're known for. They did have one white wine on the menu which was a Roussane that I really didn't care for. It tasted like a beer which I found extremely odd. However, I was really impressed with their red blends. Their bottle prices are actually pretty reasonable, and if you don't want to purchase a bottle, you can always buy wine by the glass. Service from ". " was excellent! She was very knowledgeable about the wines and seemed passionate in explaining where they came from. Never made it out to Treasure Island before in my 5+ years living in the Bay Area, but after finally checking out Alcatraz Island & enjoying some rare, sunny SF life - we decided to check out Treasure Island for more breathtaking views. We cruised around & followed the breadcrumb trail of signs pointing to VIE. When in Rome, do as the Romans do! We pulled up right out front where a worker saw us come out of our car. She made eye contact with us, then immediately turned around & stormed off. Confused, we decided to walk further past some tables of people clearly enjoying themselves & we get up to her host table where she promptly told us "we're closed, this is a private party." No problem at all, just would've been nice to have a heads up before venturing all the way in. Disappointing since after we got back, friends & family had actually shared surprising good feedback from this place when they were there years ago. read more

This was the second stop on our wine tasting tour on TI. It's a small space. They have their vineyard in Napa or whatever. They deliver to this tasting room on TI. I had a taste of someone's white wine. It was typical. They have $15 a flight and single glasses of wine for like $11-13. The lady serving was super nice and friendly. Vie Winery is fantastic, it has the look and feel of an urban winery, but the displacement of being on Treasure Island so you are able to feel like it is a bit of an escape. WIth beautiful views of San Francisco and the rest of the bay area, it is an awesome place to spend a beautiful day, (much like I have for the past 2 weekends). The look and feel of the space is pretty 'cool', you could call it urban chic (this makes me a little uncomfortable but I believe it is relevant). The wine is great, specifically the syrah, and the guy behind the counter, Jesse, is a total sweetheart. Not only does he know a lot about Vie wines, but he is also incredibly attentive and eager to make sure you and yours have a great time. Awesome event spot potential, would love to host a couple of parties at Vie Winery for sure. Oh, and they have two bocce courts. Awesome. If you have not 'bocce'd' you really need to do yourself a favor and try it out. And people can bring dogs, so there is a huge change you will get to cuddle with another person's dog, which is always a plus. The end. read more

The venue itself looks nice with the wood walls, string lights, and floral decor. It's a bit hidden so it might be difficult to get to but when you see the bocce courts, you'll know. I had a terrible experience with VIE winery on my birthday. With multiple large groups that day, my group was checked in 30 minutes late to the tasting which was completely unorganized, no one checked us into bocce, and we were completely ignored throughout our reservation. The attendant also pulled me aside mid service and said she felt "spread really thin." She mentioned a few people in my reservation bought bottles and didn't tip and that she would appreciate it if I compensated her. At least we bought lots of wine. She didn't pour or open the bottles that they purchased or change out our glasses and we didn't learn a thing about the winery or what we were served during the tasting? Clearly she didn't know a thing about service or working in a tasting room. She acted so entitled. Won't be back. read more

UNACCEPTABLE BUSINESS PRACTICES & TREATMENT OF CUSTOMERS: DO NOT GO HERE! We had a pre-paid 30th birthday party for our friend planned this Sunday at Vie for several weeks. Today they contacted us to let us know that they had to cancel on us due to double booking. In other words, someone offered them more money for a private party and so they decided to cancel on us. Given the fact that this was scheduled to happen in less than two days, we are left with no other options because it's too last minute at this point to go elsewhere. Thanks for ruining our friend's 30th birthday Vie!! This is some of the tackiest business I've ever seen. Shame on them and I hope people think twice about spending money at a place that treats their patrons this way. The only consolations left at this point are: knowing that I didn't give my money to such shady people (yes they did actually refund and not collect double profits how nice of them) and that they just lost at least 12 future customers as a result of their inexcusable business practices. read more

THE BEST. Came here over the weekend for the Treasure Island Flea Market. We weren't really sure what to expect, but wanted a chance to get out of the city. This gem of a winery is hidden - you have to go behind The Winery (thats the name of another winery on the island) then walk across the parking lot and locate the metal shed looking building by the water. That's the tasting room. On a nice day its great - they have bocce ball out by the water, and the guys who run the tasting are hilarious. As soon as we walked in they started pouring and they were super friendly. Thought it was a major downfall that they don't have a bathroom - totally not an issue. They have the most PRISTINE port-a-potty I've ever seen in my life. Ask them about it and they'll brag for days about its cleanliness. Definitely a place I'd go back to. Just a tip, if you go to The Winery first, and mention that you're thinking about going to Vie, they'll give you a 2 for 1 tasting card :) read more

This little shack is a perfect spot to grab a bottle of wine while soaking up the sun on Treasure Island. I grabbed a bottle for $40 to share with the group. It's definitely pricey, but great location and area to hang around for a large group. I like that this one along with a couple of the other wineries are situated between SF and East Bay, which is quite convenient. read more

I was part of a wine tour which brought us to three wineries on Treasure Island. Vie is mediocre at best. No character to the wines, although the staff was pleasant - except for when we wanted to use the Bocce courts! A large factor here could be our tour since there were many wines available for tasting which were not on our schedule. I feel strongly however, if the three tastings you offer me on a tour are this bad, there is no reason I will return when I drive over to experience the other wineries which were not on our tour. Admittedly, they have two Bocce courts and picnic tables. Remember to reserve them in advance and bring a picnic (there isn't any place selling food here). Maybe if you're lucky you'll find a wine you like and the experience can be very nice. read more

The location and atmosphere of these 2 joined wineries is just fantastic. It's almost a hidden gem, but its slowly starting to be discovered. I came here last year on a holiday weekend and we were the only patrons, this year we were one of many - but still nothing compared to the typical SF crowds. I recommend bringing a picnic lunch, hanging out to play bocce ball and spending a good half day. There are 2 other wineries right next door, so its a solid way to spend a weekend. The tastings are pretty intimate because the tasting rooms are so small, the music is fun, generally a great experience. I prefer the wine at Sol Rouge and Vie to the Winery SF, but usually hit all three anyway :) read more

So utterly disappointing. I became a wine club member last year because I hosted an intimate socially distant birthday party for my partner and we really enjoyed the wine so I decided to support their small business. BAD CALL!! After I paid for my first shipment I was able to go pick it up but the second one was charged to my card and NEVER delivered. I called 7 times, left messages, e-mailed 5 times, talked to someone over the phone who assured me they would deliver my wine and even resorted to driving out there to see if I could catch someone in person and they were closed. We had started at Winery SF and were walked over to VIE while being told about how it was started and why on Treasure Island. It was awesome! LOVE everything about this place. We had 12 people a birthday celebration and we could not have picked a more perfect place. We did a tasting at the main building, a barrel sampling, a second tasting at Vie, picnicked, and bocce balled for about 30 mins. We had so much fun and the people who worked there were so kind, accommodating, and knowledgable about the wines and process. The setting is simple, rustic and with awesome water views. I visited VIE while I was on Treasure Island for the flea market. We had a coupon for buy 1 tasting get 1 tasting free. The service was friendly, however they were very busy (due to the deal from the flea market) so it wasn't the most attentive of service. It was also difficult to find the winery. Spent a delightful day at the VIE wineries in February for a friend's birthday. Super friendly staff, fun and interesting spaces (there's a porthole in one!), yummy libations. Bought a bottle of wine as well, which ended up having gone bad. Experienced excellent customer service after reporting it -- was mailed a replacement and given a full refund! It's close by to San Francisco if you want a wine tasting near the city. There is a bus that will take you directly to Treasure Island. The place is a bit hard to find since there are no signs, but I believe google has good enough GPS to lead you to it. The place is unique with statues and random props since it is near a photography studio. You can definitely take pictures especially near the bathrooms. It was $20 for 5 tastings and an extra $5 for Bocce ball. read more

I came here last weekend for a friend's birthday, I've been to The Winery which is close by. This place was small but pleasant. The people who worked there could have been a bit more attentive, and there aren't many chairs to sit and enjoy with friends. I think because there are picnic benches outside so they are trying to get people to sit out there. Still a fun time though. $15 for a tasting. read more

Great find! Of the three wineries we visited on the island, this one had the best wine. They are known for their syrahs, and it shows. The service is friendly, attentive, and the views of SF and the bridge can't be beat. They also have bocce ball courts available to reserve. We were a large group of 18, but it felt like we received the attention a smaller group would have. I did think $15 to taste was a bit steep for TI, and there is only a break if you buy 2 bottles of wine in one purchase. Still, a great experience overall. read more

Treasure Island lacks many modern amenities. To compensate for the lack of retail shops, The City decided to allow 3 wineries on the island. Yeah, right? Although VIE is an urban winery they are not growing grapes on TI but purchase their grapes from Napa, Lake, Mendocino, Santa Barbara, and Sonoma counties. Good stuff. Dog friendly too! read more

If you are looking for a special wine event 15 minutes from downtown San Francisco or Oakland, check out Vie Winery. It is on Treasure Island and offers sweeping views of the new Bay Bridge and of course San Francisco. I wasn't a fan of the first wines they offered but the Zin and the Syrahs near the end were by far the best. The winery is not Napa-like at all. It is a small, quant and secluded area and offers a laid back atmosphere and bocce ball. It would be lovely with food offerings and a little less rustic feel but great service and perhaps the rustic is really part of the charm. I will be back! read more

Karen is very knowledgeable and loves talking shop with people who come in for a taste. We immediately joined their wine club about a year ago and we've enjoyed all of the shipments we've received. Vie is one of the 5 wineries on the south side of Treasure Island that are all within walking distance of each other. If it's a nice day, they have the best view and event space of the bunch (bocce ball courts and shaded picnic table). The interior is basic but nice (and dog friendly, yay), and the staff are pleasant although often a bit busy due to Vie's popularity. The wines are done on the South of France model- lots of GSM (Grenache, Syrah, Mouvedre) offerings, and of all the ones I tried, I liked their basic GSM blend the best, but not sufficiently to tempt me to purchase a couple bottles, even to mitigate the $15 tasting fee. But, I'd come back, perhaps with a picnic lunch and a reservation for some bocce. read more

We had a wonderful afternoon at VIE Winery last Sunday! The wines are amazing - our favorites were the Roussanne the Syrah (2007 and 2008). The the location is amazing on a beautiful day, and Karen was wonderful to work with - fun, knowledgeable, passionate about the wines and people enjoying themselves. We also too advantage of the bocce ball courts (reserved ahead of time) and proceeded to drink 3 bottles of Vie wine while enjoying the sunshine and good times.
