That was a very weird and uncomfy experience... right away when I walked in I felt uncomfortable…read more The woman sitting at the desk did not greet me, so I said "hi I'm here for my massage appointment..." She said "yeah I know. How long you want? You pay now?" I got a 90 minute massage (I should have asked for a shorter one! I thought about asking to leave but I had paid up front, so I "powered through"). First of all, the facility just feels a little sketchy: it seems like it was kind of thrown together recently, the furniture all looks like stuff from goodwill, the massage room had a table lamp in the corner with a paper towel over the top to make it dimmer... the massage table itself felt a little questionable (made me think of a roadside motel, like "umm are these sheets clean?). She did not give me any instructions, but just gestured for me to go in the room, said "get ready" and then left, with the door cracked. I closed it and removed my clothes but was confused about whether I was supposed to get under the sheet or not because there was a towel under the top sheet that did not look clean, then the top sheet, and an ankle pillow with a towel on it on top of this sheet and a towel rolled up on top of the top sheet, so I thought maybe I should as supposed to wrap the towel around me? I tried to do that, but it was a very small, rough towel that reminded me of the ones at the hospital, then she came back in the room and said "get on the table." Her overall vibe was very intimidating and harsh, like a military general. The face pillow thing had two pieces of paper towel on it, which I guess I was grateful for because at least it's single use? There were weird bar things on the ceiling so I was like "is this gonna be one of those things where she stands on my back?" She did not stand on my back, but she did kneel on the table straddled over me at a few points, which I much preferred to the times when she was standing at the head of the bed, repeatedly banding and smushing into my head. She did not ask me where I wanted her to focus. She used a lot of gross-movements, never working on any specific knots, just kinda using the butt of her hand from the spine out all over. She pulled my underwear almost all the way off my butt and when she massaged my legs she kinda used the towel like a thong on me, gruffly shoving it up into my crotch "for privacy" I guess? When she wanted me to roll over she placed the towel back on top of me, spread length wise along my body, and did not help me figure out how to roll over without flashing my chest. She did not put a pillow under my legs to support my lower back so that pretty much undid whatever good she had managed to do in the first half. She barely massaged my neck and shoulders at all and when she did she used sudden, harsh, jerky movements. Then she massaged my face, which was an interesting experience (she kinda did my nostrils and my eyelids and then pressed hard a couple times on my temples?). What felt like the last 20 minutes of the massage was just her kinda gently stroking my shins and feet, it felt like she as just waiting for the clock to run out. I think the only positives I can say are that she used firm pressure (which I like) and asked several times "you okay? Too much pressure?", and that the oil was warm... would NOT recommend
