The place is beautiful and clean, and professional looking. However, the receptionists really need to slow down. You come to a spa to relax, not be frantic. You just get a sense that the receptionist is trying to check you in and out, even if you're the only one in there. The nail tech is nice in starting conversation but sometimes i found myself receiving some backhanded comments and the talking in native language made me feel like i was being insulted behind my back. I just find that rude. I dont go into a service and speak my native language with my friends while making snarky comments in English. The place is beautiful but the service they provide is just okay. I was given a gift card for a hot cream mani & pedi for my birthday and it was such a lovely surprise. This spa offers a very calming environment and the options are extensive. There is a large selection of regular and gel nail colors that are well organized for easy decision making. Upon sitting down at the pedicure chair, I was offered a beverage - they offer wine, soft drinks, and more - and quickly the relaxation started. Joanna moved quickly but not rushed and provided me a wonderful pedicure. I also received a manicure with my gift card and upgraded to a gel mani instead. I went to Solace today for a pedicure. It was fantastic. First thing I noticed was how many nail polish choices there were. They have a huge wall of polishes grouped by color. No other nail salon that I have been to can compare with their selection of colors. I was very impressed with the staff. The facility is beautiful and the spa chairs are super comfortable. The staff was very attentive and made sure my time there was very relaxing. I will definately go back again. Next time I want to try a massage, I'm sure it will be great. read more

So I first got an amazing massage with Mary, and a few days later went back for more! Mona gave me a whole new (much needed) look! She did a fabulous job with my hair and listened very carefully when I requested that she not cut too much off the length! Don't you hate it when you go into a salon and ask for a trim and you end up with 3 inches off?! Well not Mona she did just as I asked, I went from ugly tired bayalage to a dark chocolate brown with a little cooper in front! Looks and feels 100% better! Would highly recommend this sweet lady! I love this day spa. After my husband was badly cut at a different nail salon, we tried Solace in Sterling and it is the only place we go. I'm reviewing today bc it was our first pedi since they opened from quarantine. It's always been very clean, but wow, the safety measures in place bc of Covid are impressive. Masks are required, temps are taken and they have plexiglass panels at the nail and pedi stations. Hand sanitizer is readily available as well. As my polish was drying I saw one of the techs clean after another pedi guest and they wiped down EVERYTHING, including the plexi divider. As with the always exceptional service, I can also highly recommend this spa for providing a safe and healthy environment during this crazy time. read more

My review is for the Alexandria location. I went to get my nails done for the powder dip treatment. New to the area, after moving from Florida, I was shopping around for a new nail place and this one was it, so I thought. I was happy with my nails the first three days, after that, they were all falling apart!! I would say, the work was worth more of $25 than $55 plus tip. I returned to get the nails repaired. They did it at no charge, but nails fell apart again by second day...the worst mani I have ever encountered. Staff was nice, but the work, performance not so good. I will NOT return. I've been here a total of 3 times, twice for a Swedish massage and once recently for a gel acrylic manicure. The massage therapists are really nice and made me feel comfortable. The massages felt very relaxing. Since I tend to get knots in my shoulders/neck area, I plan to come back again to try the deep tissue massage, as the therapist recommended. As for the manicure, my technician Lynn was super polite, professional, friendly, and efficient. I'm very pleased with the work she did on my nails. I plan to come back here for future manicures. Solace is still a beautiful, clean salon but recently the salon seems to be declining a little bit. It seems that several pedicure chairs are broken, one of the entrance doors has been broken and now you only get a glass of wine if you spend $45 or more. Really? The rates are a little above market as it is which is fine because the ambiance and customer service have been so wonderful but now it just feels like corners are being cut in the wrong areas. I'd rather pay a little more and still get the experience Solace used to offer as opposed to feeling like you're only an appreciated customer worthy of the full experience if you are getting a luxury pedicure or multiple services. read more

Took my mom in for a Mother's Day/birthday treat! They were AMAZING!! My mom had Tina and got a spa gel manicure. Tina is incredible and my mom's manicure looks awesome. I had Ren and got a gel manicure with paraffin. She is wonderful and my horrible cuticles and dry hands have been transformed! This spa is such a relaxing, beautiful perfect place with so many difference services available. The service was the best I've ever had (complimentary drinks, wine, champagne too). If you're looking for a good place in the area you NEED to come here! This place is a hidden gem. You wouldn't think it was that nice on the inside because of the brick facade and well ... it's next to an autobody parts store BUT it's SO PRETTY INSIDE. Gorgeous chandeliers, waterfalls, a little bridge that leads your toward the back where you get your pedicures done and there are these amazing murals of the beach that make you feel like you're on an island somewhere. The pedicure chairs even have crystal tub basins. They bring you champagne and snacks. Even the bathroom is nice (heated seats and all!) Like I said HIDDEN gem. She really listened to what I wanted my hair to look like and made some suggestions herself without being too pushy. Came here a couple of weeks ago with a bridal party and we all got manis and pedis done. They offered us champagne during our pedicures, which was super nice and fun! All the girls, including myself, really enjoyed our pedicures (with massages, ahhh) and gel manicures! They did a good job on everyone's nails and spent a little bit of extra time on the bride to do special designs on her nails. The whole salon/spa is decorated to be very fancy and relaxing. I love this place! My mom and I used to go when it was Evian Day Spa, but since then Solace has moved in and beautifully remodeled the place into one of the best looking spas I've been to! Modern amenities, super open space, beach theme and crystal chandeliers make me feel fancy. The service has been great the two times I've been - first time for my Bachelorette party (they were super accommodating for the 6 of us) and second for my wedding nails. Lynn did an excellent job on those - it was my first time getting gel/fake nails but she did them perfectly and exactly how I described them to her. She was super patient and even stayed way after closing time to make sure they were perfect. They also serve you wine and champagne. Wanted to update my original review. Had been going to the salon for manipedis and kept watching women walk out of there with gorgeous hair. I hadn't really paid too much attention to the hair section (hard to miss it's the entire left side of the place), but was so happy I checked it out. Turns out the cause of all that hair heaven was a woman named Mona. Or as my kids say, who all go to her now, The Other Mona. She's kind, warmhearted, honest, observant, L I S T E N S and most importantly of all, is a genious with scissors. I mean, she's good. REALLY GOOD. I have been to Solace 4 times since my first review. Mona is my gal, not only is she an amazing colorist and she listens to me about my hair and the styling of it. I moved to this area 18 months ago and went to two other salons before finding Mona. I would never think of going anywhere else or having anyone else do my hair. Found this gem several months ago and try to go at least once a month. I go for the pedi/manis and haven't tried the other services but will soon. All of the staff are professional, very helpful and friendly - including the manager and receptionist, which makes for a very nice experience. I have brought my daughter with me a few times and she really likes the spa. My go to lady is TINA - she's AWESOME. She's great with all things nails and she's funny, we usual have a good giggle when I'm there. I would describe the décor as a little glitzy but serene. Upon arrival, we walked in and were not acknowledged, or greeted. We stood awkwardly at the counter for quite sometime before anyone looked up and gave us instruction. We had to fill out paperwork as this was our first visit, which is typical, then we sat a bit longer waiting for our appointment. Once in the back, they give you a robe, (a very dingy one) and some shower type shoes. There is a locker for your personal items, the transition to and from massage is private and comfortable. When it's time for our "couples" massage, the massage bed creek and make a tremendous amount of noise. Not only was one bed working against the relaxation of your massage, but two. So, as hard as it is not to be annoyed at the entire situation, the therapists are apologizing for the noise, understandably knowing it was awful sounding. I specifically requested deep tissue, I feel like I paid someone to rub oil onto my skin. Once the massage was over, they assisted with getting our robes back on and proceeded to ask if we would like water or wine. We both chose some wine. As I go to get up, she touches me and signals lay down. I figure it's something like recovery time, and await the wine she asked us about. We sit in the room awkwardly not knowing what to do. Do we stay, so we go change? Finally we were sick of waiting and walked to the sofa. Wine waited for us there, and we proceeded to wait to be able to change into our clothing. The door to the room we change in is shut, with light from under the door. Trying not to be a nuisance ourselves we wait patiently for the person or persons that may be in that same room changing as we did. It was vacant. We waited and waited only to find out it was empty. Communication was a big issue, I don't see myself ever returning, and I will not recommend this particular "spa" to anyone. read more

We (family and friends) generally have had a good experience at this salon. One very nice aspect is that although it comes up under nail salon, they offer many other services like hair cuts and massages so it's inclusive. Nice to be able to go with friends or family to take advantage of different services. Although it is fancy, new and clean, the nail and pedicure prices are fairly similar to other nail places I go that have less perks, around $2 more per service. They always offer something to drink and even do a little have massage with lotion when I get acrylics which is not typical of other salons so you will feel pampered. Pedicure is nice with comfy massage chairs in a private area. This would be perfect for a spa party or bridal shower type of party. My daughter and I are usually the only ones getting pedicure at the same time so it's a nice outing together. I asked about parties and they have discounts and corporate packages available. My biggest advice to you and the reason there are 4 stars and not 5 is that not all technicians here are the same. ASK FOR LYNN. She is really good and professional. In general, nice, clean and recommended. Best to make a reservation so you can get the technician you want. Enjoy! read more
