SOFT SHELL CRABS with EGG NOODLES in Khao Soi Curry
    Kat P.

My wife and I recently tried this hidden gem, and we're so glad we did! I love their build-your-own Thai curry concept because it lets you customize your meal exactly how you like it. I ordered the crispy duck with jasmine rice and Khao Soi curry, while my wife had the soft-shell crab with egg noodles and Khao Soi curry. Both dishes were absolutely delicious--rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The portions were generous, but the food was so good that we finished everything with no leftovers! For dessert, we shared the coconut ice cream with corn and mango sticky rice combo, and it was the perfect sweet ending to our meal. The presentation of every dish was beautiful and showed a lot of attention to detail. We also had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners, Lita, who personally served our food. She was incredibly sweet, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. It's always exciting to see a newer local business doing things right. If you're looking for authentic Thai flavors, a fun customizable menu, and warm hospitality, this place is definitely worth a visit. We'll definitely be back!

Are you kidding me??? This was absolutely AMAZING!!! You are greeted by the most amazing, helpful, personable human (Patty) that is welcoming and just as excited as you are! Patty was GREAT!! They give you the opportunity to taste all of the curries! It was pretty hard to choose a favorite as they all were superb. I decided on the Panang and boosted it to a level 3. I'll do a 4 next time( looking for more heat) as this will be my go to weekly! I did add some extras to the create your own... I plan on screaming from the mountain tops to anyone how great this is! Oh, they have wine too! Josh Chardonnay! Ya, I had that as I waited. Thank you!!

CoCoCurry found a new customer! I received amazing customer service! Oh I wish I would have got her name but not only did she welcome me immediately, she asked if I wanted to try all the different curries. I sampled each one and they were absolutely delicious. I had a hard time choosing which one I wanted. I ended up choosing grilled shrimp with flat noodles and the Khao Soi Curry. I added some heat as well! This curry I was told is a northern Thai curry. I also added Thai omelet for $3 more. As soon as she put the food down I smelled the warm spices with the cilantro. The shrimp were nice size (tail on). I enjoyed every last bite and left nothing. Flavors were bold and the medium heat was perfect. So many different ways to create your food just how you like. The add on prices I feel are reasonable. CoCoCurry is small inside but the decor is amazing, the only downside is the parking. Very tight parking! I can see them opening up another location eventually. I highly recommend going and giving them a try.

CRISPY FISH FILLETS with masaman curry

Everything was delicious! Where do I start... the build your own curry concept is so fun. You basically go on a little curry journey before even sitting down, and it definitely wakes up your taste buds. We went with the Massaman with crispy fish fillets and rice, and the Khao Soi with grilled king mushrooms over egg noodles... flavors galore. Lita walked us through all the base and topping options, which made the experience even better and truly appreciate that extra connection. No complaints. 10 out of 10.

Two things assaulted my senses the moment I walked in. The first was the girl behind the counter asked me to taste test all five of their curry. She said the khao soi was her favorite, and I was convinced into agreeing. I was also partial to the mustard flavor and fragrance. If I hadn't tasted them, I was probably going to order the massaman. They were all delicious though. Well, I did find the green curry a tad weak, but that was at least partly because I had to taste that one last. And green curry has a softer flavor to begin with. The second assault was there was some relatively loud music playing. Not super loud. Just noticeably louder than average for a restaurant, and yet, it was super relaxing. Because it was, like, some Bossa Nova cafe vocal mix. I only know that because I just could not remember what the genre was called, so I went and asked the employee about the music also. Anyways, I ordered the khao soi (hot) with rice and chicken thigh, and it was amazing. The umami of the curry impressed me a second time. The chicken and breading were both soft. The onions and fried egg also mixed in perfectly. This is easily some of the best curry I've had in San Diego so far. I also ordered a tom yum noodle soup with beef. This was also good, but not as impressive as the curry. I believe their meat is also made the same separately no matter what entree you're ordering, so the meat is not made specifically for the soup. Aside from that, the only other negative I can think of, if it can even be considered a negative, might be the location? The neighborhood outside is slightly sketchy. There was a homeless person sitting in the corner in front of the 7-eleven next door. Another homeless man with no shirt on came around the other side of the building and was hanging around in the parking lot right in front of the restaurant. The vibe of this joint really pulls you in though. Something about it feels like an oasis and encourages you forget about the outside world once you're inside. I don't believe in stuff like feng shui, but if there's any truth to it at all, I'm sure this interior design gets an A+ in it.

Possibly the biggest five star review I've given. One of the best curries I've ever had. I love how they have beers from Thailand and Laos. And the curry sampler to start things off is great. The hosts were so friendly and take pride in their restaurant. We loved it.

The vibe is so cute coming in! Service was very welcoming and friendly :) We got to sample all of the curry before making a decision. The worker recommended the khao soi with egg noodles so I decided to get just that :O! I chose to add crispy duck leg as my protein. My partner ended up getting the pork belly with panang and rice. Both were very delicious and I can't wait to come back!

I have dined in and ordered out from here multiple times. Ambience is good. Small little seating section for about 5 to 6 groups. The restaurant is decorated nicely love the pops of yellows that represents curry. Service is always great when I come in. Greeted as soon as you walk in the door and promptly seated as I have not been when it's been busy the cashier offered a tasting of each curry so that we knew which one we would love the most. I have had a variety of the dishes here and they all have been phenomenal. The most recent dish I've had was the salmon with rice and the pan curry. The flavors were dancing in my mouth. Parking is shared with the others two or three stores in the plaza. It can be a bit tight. I would highly recommend.

I bookmarked this spot last year and we finally got around to dining here on Thursday for lunch at noon. Parking lot is shared with 7-11, Barbershop and Jewelry store. It feels a little sketchy on the outside but the inside feels like sunshine. We were greeted by the friendly woman behind the counter. We welcomed us warmly and clearly explained the process and other menu offerings. We got to sample all the curry sauces, it was hard to choose since they were all divine. She sat up at a table and brought over menus and water. I peeked at the menu before we arrived and had my heart set on Khao Soi with the steamed tofu, rice noodles and Papaya Salad on the side. My friend ordered Massaman with veggies and Jasmine Rice. She also got a Thai Iced Coffee Togo. Both of our meals yummy. I wish my Papaya Salad came with the fermented fish sauce. We ended up stay long after we finished lunch just chatting. There were a few other patrons dining during our visit. Definitely tempted to come back to try a different combination and may the mango and sticky rice.

Delicious! Everything was so good! Service was awesome. Parking kinda sucks though.

This is a such a nice little restaurant. As soon as you walk in you can see and feel the care and love this owner has put into this space. She will greet you first and have you taste her incredible curries. There are six of them. Each are delicious and unique from the others. You chose your protein, add a curry and a base. They also have other dishes as well if you don't want curry. We order the khao soi, Penang, and green curries. We had the crispy duck, salmon, and chicken. Also ordered the papaya salad. Each was delicious and we all enjoyed our dishes. We also tried the mango and sticky rice. Definitely will come back here.

Don't judge a book by its neighbors. This is a cute, clean, friendly restaurant that happens to serve the best curry (in my opinion) in town. They actually let you taste the curry before you choose. Make sure to let them know if you have any allergies they will point you in the right direction. We had a great dinner and they have a liquor license so you can get a beer or cocktails. Bonus!

The pulled pork was delicious and the smoked meatloaf had just the right amount of smoke. For sides, I got the bacon, potato salad and the Street corn. I've had both of these sides before and they hit just right each time. I also ordered the bourbon pecan pie to go. This is the first time having the bourbon pecan pie. I did find some shelves in it, which were a little unpleasant, but at least I know that it's real pecans. It does have a strong bourbon flavor so it may not be the best for kids. To drink, I got the guava lemonade. I arrived with my pup and we sat outside. Everybody was super dog friendly. They brought a nice bowl of water for my guy. Yes, I know it's a barbeque restaurant, so I didn't expect it to be overly vegan-friendly, and I checked ahead on options for the two vegans in our group of 8 - they looked sufficient (a veggie/Impossible burger, a vegan chicken sandwich, and fries not fried in beef tallow), so the vegans gave a thumbs up on my choice despite being a BBQ/meat-heavy menu. There are plenty of other options that are vegetarian, but not vegan. The problem is that the two items I mentioned are served on brioche buns...not vegan. We asked for optional bread choice and were told that the only option was white toast. So, in addition to removing the cheese and dairy-based sauces, had to settle for white toast or no sandwich bread at all. Not a deal-breaker, but certainly an opportunity for Del's to have some vegan-friendly options like a better bread and maybe a vegan sauce alternative. I (non-vegan) had the Reuben which comes on a nice marble rye - there are plenty of good rye breads that are dairy-free, but we were told that the rye was not vegan. Overall, I'd go back, but when in a group with various dietary restrictions, I'd avoid Del's. Just as an aside, my son (one of the vegans in our group) told me he went to Grand Ole BBQ in North Park, they had plenty of things he could eat, and he loved the food there...so take note CRG!

Before we could even process being denied our soup, the chef himself walked out to our table. First of all? The man is dangerously handsome. Second of all? He was incredibly sweet. He politely offered us tomato soup instead, but then saw the heartbreak in my grandma's eyes. He told us, "Look, if you really want the matzo ball soup and can give me 15 minutes, I will go to the back and whip up a brand new, fresh batch just for your grandma." Naturally, we waited. The deviled eggs is a super Duper tiny appetizer. The highlight is that it comes with salmon roll on top which are delicious. Our food came out and I will say that it just tasted OK this time. The patties in the patty melt were undercooked (they looked gray colored not brown) and didn't have as much flavor as they normally do. My onion rings were decent, but they just weren't fried correctly because a lot of them were stuck together. The shakes were the highlight of the meal as they tasted delicious and we enjoyed them. Customer service is always great. It's just that, on this night, the food wasn't as tasty as it was the first time. We hope that the food gets back to the great taste that it used to have soon.

My friend ordered the shakshuka (not pictured because it came last and everyone just wanted to eat at that point) which was also pretty good. For the avocado toast, the toast was too hard so I wouldn't recommend it. We also ordered a yuzu and matcha yuzu mimosa. Both tasted like yuzu. The matcha yuzu one was basically a green yuzu mimosa. She even wrote down other nearby restaurants and shops we need to see in the area, and recommended we come back during brunch. We came back this morning and had the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had. Much harder to find a seat or parking on the weekend but worth it. The band was great but had a group of dancers that refused to give up tables while they appeared to be at capacity. Other than that... 10/10 place, food, music, and service.

We frequent Nate's at LEAST monthly for their impeccable vibe, delicious eats, and awesome staff…read more We've recommended Nate's to multiple out-of-town friends, and usually bring friends or family with us when we visit. The ONLY reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 (and I'm usually a 5-star/1-star girlie) is that we haven't seen Cari, one of our favorite servers, in either of our last couple of visits. Over a year ago now, Cari stepped UP when I became faint and almost passed out on Nate's front deck. It was a hot day, I am BAD at drinking water but great at sweating; and as I stood up, I turned paper white and the world got fuzzy. Cari swooped in the moment she saw what was happening - making sure I was safely lying down, getting me hand sanitizer for my forehead and a wet cloth for the back of my neck (rapid cooling!), and orange juice for my fluid imbalance. I'm so SO glad Cari was there to take better care of me than I take of myself. I miss our nerdy conversations, and hope she'll be back soon!

OK... first and foremost, a moment for the biscuits. They were so flaky and delicious…read more We were recommended by the waiter to get things family style and we went all out: - Biscuits - 2 dookey chase - catfish (lemon) - lobster pasta - oxtail rice - Mac n cheese - wings - cornbread All super flavorful. Although it was fried the food wasn't very greasy, it was a very dry, well executed fry. We all talked about our favorites.. the cat fish and the dookey chase were probably the top votes. The service was good and accommodating. A little slower but we had a big group and a lot of food. There was live music and the artists killed it!! Fun spot for a group of girls night!!

I added some update photos of their current menu. There was only 1 waitress, but she was attentive to all the parties. There was Inside and outside seating and the establishment looked clean. Though initial visit was for HH I decided to stay since my son had been craving alligator. We ordered... Alligator bites with fries $26 (I thought that was high, but I never got gator before and don't know how to compare it) Bowl of Gumbo (chicken and sausage) $16 I thought it was flavorful, I would have like the roux to be a bit more thicker. Beignets $13 These were perfect Cheddar biscuits $10 There was 5 large biscuits. Flavorful but I would have like them to be a bit more softer Gouda Mac (side) $10 My kids enjoyed. (I can't eat, so I can't confirm) I also had a Paloma and I thought it was good. I rate a 3.8/5. There are a couple things on the menu that I would like to try, like the lemon pepper catfish, so I may visit again
