I was very excited to get a flower arrangement from this shop they have many beautiful examples online so I picked one of the many they had I was extremely disappointed to see that the arrangement looks nothing like it's supposed to it does not look like anything I ordered on the website once it arrived it looked like it was missing certain flowers as well on the website you have the option to add certain details and I did and it looks like they were not applied. read more

I come into Solano Florist for two reasons: the flowers and Amir. Stepping into the shop is always a chance to catch a (flower laden) breath and see something fresh and lovely. Even the potted plants glow! Amir is very generous with his skill and attention; he makes the smallest bouquet or corsage with the same care I've seen him putting into wedding flowers. He's incredibly knowledgeable and works with each customer to create something special. He delivers, too! I recently ordered a bouquet for a memorial gathering for a friend and colleague, with many stipulations (flowers had to be able to handle ninety degree weather in an outdoor setting, and certain greens were specified for sentimental reasons). Amir came through with a stunning bouquet that was nearly twice the size that I expected, and for a very reasonable price. I was beyond ecstatic with the result. The flowers were truly the centerpiece of the memorial gathering and provided a very special backdrop for the speakers. In addition, Amir is just a dream to work with. Nothing seems to faze him and he's very creative and energetic about meeting the most idiosyncratic needs. He even carried the bouquet two blocks to my car and arranged them securely for transport. All smiles until we mentioned our budget and we were practically run out of the store. I had never been to a florist to discuss flowers for a larger event and didn't know what to expect. I thought florists would tell you what they can do to get the look you want (or steer you in a different, within-your-means direction). That definitely did not happen. I then felt incredibly self conscious and hoped I hadn't insulted the man by throwing a number out there (I was thinking 50-150 per centerpiece) but instead of listening to me or saying "Yes this is definitely out of your price range. How about..." I got a "do you know what's in that picture? 100 stems! At least $600!" And "you won't get much beyond a very small centerpiece for that. Here's my card." End of conversation. I didn't want 100 stem centerpieces, I just thought the look was pretty. I then thought the bad interaction was my fault and that flowers were just not going to happen for me. I would never want to underpay someone for the work that they do, so I figured I just couldn't afford it. After speaking with a few friends, I realized a $3000 flower budget is totally doable for most florists - this one apparently just didn't want my business. I went to another place in Danville that will be doing gorgeous arrangements and bouquets within my budget - plus they were friendly and helpful, making suggestions and showing us the options we had that would go with our vision. Overall, Amir did a terrific job helping out with our wedding. He had a great demeanor and was very accommodating to the arrangements and flowers we wanted, even if they were not exactly in season. The final centerpieces, bouquets, boutineers, and decorations for the wedding arch were exquisite. There was one minor hiccup. The day before the wedding, we found out that the wedding arch was too tall for the room the ceremony was going to be held in. We ended up having to forego the top of the arch, and instead used a piece of fabric to create a flat top. However, it turned out really nice, and the floral arrangements really made it beautiful. He's been in business for over 2 decades, which means he's established relationships with the best flower vendors in the Bay Area, and it shows in what he sells, they are some of the most beautiful and long lasting of any shop I've been to in Berkeley. Okay, supermarkets might have cheaper flowers, but they don't last as long, they don't deliver, and most importantly, the arrangements aren't as beautiful. read more

My best friend lives in NYC so for my 65th Birthday she ordered a special fall bouquet from Solano Florist.. She mentioned to Amir that I'm an artist and that I notice everything, which is true. He designed a stunning combination of flowers, assorted branches of deep berries and day lilies, roses, rusty orange calla lily's and other unusual flowers. The bouquet feels like Autumn and I am delighted that as the flowers continue to open it has become even more beautiful. It's a masterpiece. I would definitely recommend this florist. This review is a little late and has to do with my best friends wedding. She literally gave Amir the owner the order 3 days before her wedding and he went above and beyond for her! He had her bouquet, 24 men's boutonnières, and even a gift basket full of fruits and chocolates ready ahead of time. The flowers in the bouquet and boutonnieres were fresh and managed to last until two weeks after the wedding! He made the gift basket look so amazing that no one wanted to open it LOL. I am without a doubt using Amir for my floral needs when I get married. :) read more

Disappointing experience. Agreed upon and paid (a lot) for two corsages, with the agreement (florist even took notes) that one corsage would have 3 orchids (which had 2, when I picked it up) and that the other corsage would have 8 (small) roses, and it had 5, which I then had to insist on and wait for, while florist added an additional 3 roses. Without the additional roses, the corsage looked asymmetrical, very small, and unbalanced. The owner, nice when I paid for the corsages, a few days before, was kinda impatient with me and rude to the friend I had brought along with me, when we pointed out the discrepancy in the corsages. The florist has talent, but getting to deliver exactly what we agreed upon and paid for was another story. A woman purchasing an orchid plant, who came in after me, and whom Amir tried to help before me, remarked to me "how disappointing" since she saw our struggle with trying to get the corsages remedied. I think this is probably a good place to get ready-made arrangements but could be problematic and stressful if you are having custom work such as wedding centerpieces or corsages since the final result could be very different than your expectation. read more
