Rosa does a fantastic job; this is the second time I have been to see her and I highly recommend her. My nails look beautiful and I couldn't be happier. Amy did my daughter's nails at the same time as I was getting mine done. After Amy applied the first coat of color, my daughter wasn't happy with the color she chose -- no problem here -- another color was selected and Amy finished the job. I can't understand the negative reviews. I've been here twice- both times a wonderful experience. First time Tuan did my dip manicure and pedicure while Tammy and Henry did both of my daughters gel manicures and regular pedicures. Second time Tuan did my dip manicure again but Tammy did my pedicure and her foot massage was unbelievable she does something special with a wooden massage tool. I have found that this salon is also much more competitively priced, as others in the area charge more for the same services. However, the service here does not feel discounted at all. Good prices, inconsistent service. Have been here about 6 times for pedicures and basic manicures with no polish. Last 2 times the young man (Tuan?) has provided my service. First time was a basic pedicure and he did good work. Last time, in October, he did a mani pedi and I had problems with both. On the pedicure, he scraped the right side of my foot and left a mark that's still there. On the manicure, he used a rotary tool to smooth ridges, which I've never had done before. When he used it on my thumb, i felt a strong burning sensation and involuntarily snapped my hand away. I should have stopped him at that point but didn't , and he did my remaining nails without pain. However, within a week, all my fingernaiLs that had ridges began to tear and crack. They're now all a mess, and sometimes painful enough I have to wear bandaids. I won't be going back. I ended up going to Solar Nails because my other location was very busy. I was having a stressful day and needed some me time and good customer service. I walk in and I'm immediately impressed with the decor, the cleanliness, and how nice the employees were. And to add my favorite Bath&BodyWorks balsam candle was burning. Donna helped me with my gel fill and she was so nice. Asked lots of questions and did everything in about 20-25 minutes. My last location I was there for an hour or so. Rosa was the absolute rudest person I have come across in customer service and came recommended by someone. The most unprofessional encounter I have ever experienced. I scheduled an appt in advance and she was mean and had a chip on her shoulder from the Start. I came 20 minutes early even to pick out a color and she scheduled someone at the same time and chose to treat me like garbage and I had even scheduled my appt 5 days in advance to get my nails done for my birthday. Horrendous experience and awful person. Luckily the manager took over. read more

Pricing was a litte confusing, certain items are an extra charge! I got LONG, coffin shaped & dipped nails(recommended by Rosa!) dipped nails are a healthier & last longer! Would totally recccomend! I really enjoyed my experience here. I have lived behind this nail shop for 2 years and never went in. I am kind of snooty when it comes to nail shops. I usually will go to my shop in Saint Paul off Ford Parkway but I was in hurry. They took good care of me and the staff were friendly and accommodating. You know how you find that little gem of a place by accident and you think to yourself... "it's worth traveling to come back here"?? THIS is that place. I'm 45 minutes from home and happened upon this place because I had a little time on my hands while my kiddos were in a class and wanted a pedi before heading to Mexico. This is a family owned business and they all were genuinely warm and friendly. I noticed they greeted most customers by name as they came a in. I was given gentle upsell suggestions but not too much pressure, as I've experienced at other places. They offered a choice of essential oils for my water and were genuinely interested in making sure I had a relaxing experience. Vinny was a good conversationalist but let me set the pace. He took his time with the pedi and did a beautiful job. He let someone else do the flowers I requested. I appreciate a person who knows their strengths and weaknesses and isn't afraid to ask for help when needed. He explained the levels of pedi and the price points and gently brought up that gel and flowers would be extra. While I already knew that, I was pleased that he was upfront and didn't spring charges on me in the end. Basically, everything unpleasant that I have experienced at other nail salons was nonexistent here. Communication was easy, everything went at a relaxed pace, there were no hard upsell tactics, the pedi was done carefully and very well. They appeared to be very grateful for my business and went the extra mile to be sure that I had a good experience. I LOVE ROSA! Rosa has been doing my nails for at least 3 years, and she never fails to disappoint. I'm extremely picky about my nails- when it's for a full set or just a basic manicure, Rosa has done it all and I always leave extremely happy!! She's the sweetest woman, and I actually followed her here from a different salon- that's how much I love her. I pay a little more here for my fills/dip set, but I would pay 100$ if I needed to to have her do my nails. She's quick, efficient and knows 120% what she is doing. In the past before Rosa I was never satisfied with my nails, I would always be nicked with the Dremel or have excess nail polish on my skin-- never Rosa. Fabulous job again as usual Rosa! Rosa of Solar Nails refuses to honor the gift certificate I paid for despite receiving the payment. This is a shady business run by dishonest people who have stolen my money. I initially had a positive experience here once, and asked for a gift card for my birthday. My brother lives out of state so coordinated with Rosa (I believe she's the owner) about purchasing me a gift card online. When I went in to use it she made it really complicated and gave me a hard time, but eventually let me use $50 and said she'd save the $100 left for me to use. When I returned a few weeks later (right after having a baby and really wanting my manicure) she was extremely rude, said sorry I couldn't use it, and refused to return the $100!! I even showed her the onljne gift card receipt and she continued with a customer and wouldn't respond. Rosa stole this $100 from us! Why have an option for an online gift card if you won't honor it?! Woman sitting at her station asked if I had an appointment, I told her no and asked if I needed one. She said yes. Several employees were present, not one got up or offered to make an appointment. I (an African American woman) walked in wanting to get a polish change on my toes. There were about 5 or 6 techs in there one doing nails very close to the door. The techs said something to each other in their language then after about 3 minutes one of them asked me "what they could help me with," very rudely. I thought to myself "I don't get a hello or how are you doing." I said a polish change then they started speaking to each other again and a lady told me the wait would be about 10 minutes. I sat and waited about 10 minutes until a lady told me to come to the back and sit in a chair. I sat there for another three minutes and watched one of the techs offer a lady a bottle of water and again I thought to myself ... nobody offered me anything, I didn't even get a hello. After sitting around for another couple minutes of more sitting around and no service, a lady (white woman) walked in and I heard the nail tech closest to the door say hello to her very politely, ask her how she was doing and offered her a bottle of water. So, I stood up very composed, grabbed the nail polish and put it back where it belonged and walked out. I work very hard for my coins and I refuse to spend them in a place where I am not being patronized and discriminated against. It's very sad this same issue is still present. read more
