Can't believe this is my hand

This was my first time here. I was attending an event hosted by a sponsor that basically reserved the salon for a couple of hours. They brought in their own drinks cans, sandwiches and chip bags to make it a party atmosphere. I had a regular polish mani/pedi. The pedicure was relaxing in my massaging chair. There was a nice hot water massage soak before beginning on my nails. My nails specialist was gentle (my feet can be tender from running) and I never had to ask her to be careful. My legs were massages with oil and dried with a warm towel. Very nice experience. I usually don't have my finger nails done but on this occasion I did and she did a wonderful job on those as well. My nails were dirty and split from doing yard work. They were uneven and very bad looking and she trimmed them up, evened them out and made them look amazingly better than they were. Again, a nice hand massage was also well done and appreciated. Very nice experience here. So many colors to choose from. Very welcoming and comfortable.

    Friday morning and already hopping!

I really liked this place!!! Was in town from Boston just for an event and wanted to treat my mom and me both before the event. Neither of us typically go to nail salons but this was a great experience. Really welcoming, not stuffy, welcoming. Workers and owner greeted everyone promptly and atmosphere was super relaxing They did a great job, very professional. I really like this place and the friendliness of everyone. Highly recommend.

If I could give ZERO stars I would. I came here trying a new place. When I lady Jenny taking my gel polish off she was squeezing and twisting my fingers so much it hurt. When. I saw her grabbing the dremel bit from a small DIRTY candy tin I refused to let her or anyone use dirty tools on me after talking to the manager telling me I am stupid and don't know before telling me to leave. So I had to walk out without my nails done and looking like shit. NOBODY DESERVES TO BE KICKED OUT for wanting not to get a fungus from unclean tools. I will be calling the health department. This needs to be shut down.

I'm afraid to tell everyone of my favorite secret in Deephaven, Lakeside Nails and Spa. I've been coming here for almost a year and I'll never stop. Phong, Thanh and team are incredible to every single person who enters their establishment. The chairs are like little shiatsu masters along with the expert service and variety of pampered offerings is what brings me back week after week. I find reasons to drive out to Deephaven from DT Minneapolis to come sit in the chair and catch up with my friends while being pampered. Not to mention walking out with my nails on fleek and my feet supple and toes on point. I've never been the type of girl who cares much about my nails but now I know what GREAT looks like and more importantly what LUXURY feels like, I'm hooked. They always remember my colors from past visits, even if I don't. Every time I book my next appt they give me a discount. I'm shocked when they add up my dip nails with shoulder massage, herbal spa pedicure with the hot stone add-on; how incredibly affordable the total is. I feel like I'm getting the friends and family discount every time I come in. It's my favorite place to be during the week or on the weekend. Please don't share my ancient Deephaven secret with the world! But it would not be right if I was not honest about how clean, kind, warm and professional the expert service you will receive at Lakeside Nails & Spa. Love this place!

Enjoying our beautiful nails at lunch.

My mom, sister, & I went for a mani/pedi day on my sister's birthday and had a wonderful time. This salon is immaculately clean, modern, beautitful and inviting. The pedi chairs are brand new massage chairs that I could have happily spent the whole day in. I had the classic manicure & pedicure and was really impressed with the results. The staff were all wonderful and skilled with both massage and nail care. We had wonderful time and left relaxed, with beautiful fingers & toes. As others have mentioned, between the Opi & Zoya color options, the selection is fantastic. I will definitely return here for nail services, even though I don't live in that immediate area. I imagine this would be a great place for wedding or prom parties as well. Thanks for a great girls day out!

Pricey and semi dirty. Technician cut my toe nails way too short, resulting in an ingrown nail.

Jaynee Studer For…read morethe past seventy - four years, I have been getting my hair cut about every five to six weeks. In that number of years, I have been to many barbers and stylists. The reason I am writing this review is to say that Jaynee Studer at Sakada is the best stylist I have ever had. I have been going to her for over two and one - half years and she is superb in every respect. She is an exceptional stylist and has found a way to cut my hair (with all of its cowlicks) so that it always looks very nice when she is finished. For over ten years, I went to a stylist at another salon and, after ten years, she could never even remember on which side I parted my hair! Jaynee is exceptional in her techniques and I would recommend her highly to anyone who is looking for a stylist. Besides being excellent at her profession, Jaynee is also very friendly and personable and a good person with whom to have a conversation. I always look forward to my appointments with her.

I went to Sakada at the beginning of the new year, had a nice Balayage, and cut with one of the…read morestylists there. I returned to get a nice new look for date night; unfortunately, I had horrible service this time around. I did bring in a reference photo for inspiration. I was open to talking about colors if there was a need to. I was a golden blonde on the parts that were balayage from last time. After some discussion, Melia asked if I looked like the reference photo and if I would be happy. I said yes. The service started fine, but she didn't get a lift from my hair. She said she feared damage, but I don't know why she didn't do a strand test if that was the case. Either way, she went through it again, and this time, it lifted very yellow. I was pretty concerned when she was drying it and not noticing that it needed some correction. She kept saying there were light issues, but being next to a big window, I didn't feel that was the case. I asked her if we could put some toner or something to help it. She did this, but it left blue spots in my hair, and I felt my blonde pieces were inconsistent in tone and application. She styled me before I really had a chance to look it over and as we were over time she had me pay her. She gave me her card and kind of awkwardly said if I needed anything to contact her. When I got home, I looked at my hair closer, but it didn't look good. I went to straighten it to get a better look at the issues; it was apparent that this was a bad outcome. I'm extremely disappointed in the lack of honesty. I understand mistakes happen, but professionals note when things don't turn out well and schedule customers for a fix before leaving. I sent my photo to get an opinion and was advised this would need some big color correction. I do believe in giving people another shot if I think they can do it. However, I already made many comments of concern about the color to which I felt wasn't validated when it should have been. I also didn't feel we had enough trust if she let me walk out looking this way. My hair already went through a lot and I don't have the confidence that she has a solution to get me where I want. I did ask for a refund as I would need to pay for a corrective service. It's one thing if this was about a matter of taste, but this was technically a bad job. In a text, she said she didn't do refunds and would do a corrective treatment followed by recommendations of foils. I don't want foils; I want blended pieces. Right now, I have harsh lines in my hair that shouldn't be there. There was back and forth about whether she thought this was a good outcome and about consistency/patterns. I have had multiple balayages over the years, and I know what is expected, so it was pointless to argue further. At this point, I think the pictures speak for themselves. It sucks when things go wrong, but I would have hoped that it would have been acknowledged at the time of the appointment or at least in the end. I did get my tip back after I sent pictures to push my point further, but this experience was beyond disappointing. Lessons I learned: 1) These people are independent contractors, which means their work is not guaranteed. Make sure you discuss bad results and alternative solutions if they are not nailing the look they promised. A good stylist stands behind their work and cares about your happiness. If you have any doubt, go somewhere else. 2) Be your own advocate. If you are too shy to say something, go somewhere else that has a manager in charge. 3) Always tell them to do a test strand if they have any concerns about lifting or hair integrity. It's better to do a test than doing a service again and running out of time. 4) If you are in doubt, ask another stylist in the salon to come over and give feedback. That way, you will know if your concerns are valid.
