I asked for a French tip pedicure, but the base color came out basically hot pink. When I politely asked if she could correct it, she got irritated and continued making comments about my feet throughout the appointment. She had an attitude the entire time and seemed to rush me over to pay. I also felt pressured into tipping despite being unhappy with the service. What is happening here? I made a 2:45 appointment for a gel polish change and pedicure. They took me at 3:05. It happens but.... 1) The footbath was freezing so I asked if she could make it warmer. Apparently that meant she had to empty the tub and start all over again rather than just adding hot water. When it was refilled she asked me how the water was this time and I said 'Much better thank you!" she then proceeded to stick her hand in the water to test it. The tub is required to be clean and disinfected yet she made it completely unsanitary by sticking her hand in it! 2) When it came time for my manicure, she 'cut down' my NATURAL nails with the e-file!! She did not take a nail clipper or file them. I repeat, she drilled my natural nails!! 3) When it came time to paint them, I stopped her after one hand because it didn't look right. I compared the color in the book (plum) to the color on my hands (bubble gum pink) and it was clear they were not the same. Amy told me that's because the colors in the book fade and aren't true to the polish. Well, that's a great way to waste both of our time because now you have to wait while I pick out a new color, remove the polish, and repaint. 4) Lastly, they charged me for a full gel manicure even though I did not soak my nails, cut my cuticles, etc. When I asked why they charged me for a full manicure ($42) and not the $30 they stated a gel polish change was they said they only do polish changes if your nail color is brand new. Huh? Are we just making things up now? Because I get gel polishe changes done all the time elsewhere and have never been told this 'exception.' It's fine that Zen doesn't do Gel Polish changes, that's their right as a business, but they should have told me that when I made my appointment or when when i arrived and repeated the services I wanted. Don't pull a bait and switch at the register!I will NEVER be back. read more

I enjoyed getting a gel manicure and gel pedicure here. They were able to do my manicure while I was getting my pedicure done, so I was in and out within 45 minutes! Clean facility, calming nature music, and smiling faces! Update 2.5 weeks later: My gel nails are still fully in tact! No signed of peeling up or chips. There was a small chip on one of my toes just a couple of days after I got my nails done, I'm sure I could've gone back to the salon to get that fixed, but that would be a bit inconvenient for me. Staff was very welcoming when I walked in. I came in on a Saturday afternoon and I was able to get a chair right away, they even had someone work on my hands at the same time as my pedicure. I got the long lasting gel manicure for $36 and the spa pedicure with gel upgrade for $59. I am writing this review 5 days after my mani/pedi and the gel is holding up nicely! Daughter had blush ombre coffin shaped acrylics put on by Sophie. She did a terrific job! She went over and over the edges making sure they were perfectly smooth. The color is gorgeous! She had an appointment for a Tuesday at 2pm and the place was super busy! (Seemed like a little too many for the space imo...) Zen has become my go to place for pedicures! They have a great color selection and do a great job every time I've been in the past few months. They're not too busy but usually have a good flow of traffic. However, they always are able to fit me in - which I really appreciate. It is a very low key and comfortable salon. I came to get my nails done here for my bridal shower and the person who was doing them was so rude. One she was rushing and cut my nails all wonky. Then she didn't even ask me if I liked the length, after she got cutting the nail then asked me if I liked the length. Like WHAT! I always end up having to come back to get my gel fixed. While they are normally good about re doing them I shouldn't have to take more time out of my day to have them do them well because they didn't the first time. This has happened probably 8/10 times. I got my gel manicure done and about two days later there was bubbling and chips at the bottom. I have continued to come back because they have good prices but I cannot stand to have to go back every time because they rush through and do a poor job it is not worth the saved $5. Ok...let me start by saying this is my second time coming to this nail salon and I don't think I'll be back. The first time, I got a full set with regular acrylic with shiny black polish and a spa pedicure. The service was cool, not over the top, but they did work pretty quickly. My second time coming was yesterday...I took my daughter with me and we both wanted the ombré style with accent nails on our ring fingers. So I showed the technician I wanted grey ombré with marble style for my accent. She assured me she could do it and we began. As she started to apply the ombré powder, I noticed the color wasn't blending all the way through the nail and stopped prematurely halfway. I thought that was the process so I didn't say anything. When she began on the accent, she just started drawing random black lines on my nails like "trees." I thought she was going to fix it, but she proceeded to apply topcoat as if she was finished. I told her I didn't like it and she tried again...even another tech tried to do it. After multiple attempts, I just told her to paint my accent nail with gold glitter. I paid them $85 for both mine and my daughters nails which I didn't think was worth it. I mean, don't say you can do specialty designs if you really can't...just disappointed. read more

I have gotten my nails done here several times. It was never anything special, but it was conveniently close to my office. However, the last two times I went in were a different story, and I will never be back. I waked in on a Saturday and asked for a fill with pink and white ombré. I already had white powder on my nails, so I thought the nail tech could fill with pink. Everything about my service was very rushed and I believe that contributed to how poor the end result was. The attached photos were taken the day of my fill and 2.5 weeks after my removal respectively. She removed the top layer of my acrylics with the dremel tool. She cut my cuticles and surrounding skin with the dremel several times (see photos) despite me saying "ow" and pulling my hands away. She covered my finger with her nail where I started to bleed and never acknowledged that she cut me. On one nail, she used the dremel with too much pressure and at an angle such that it caught the end of the acrylic and sent the whole piece flying. This action ripped my nail at the beginning of the nail bed and removed all of the acrylic on my nail. She applied a fake tip to make this nail the same length as the others, and proceeded to charge me $5 for applying the fake tip. The tech didn't even touch my cuticles to clean them up. The fill placement was inconsistent; it was okay on some nails and too far away from the cuticle on others. The nails were very thick. The ombré was uneven and none of the shapes were the same. I returned 3 days later to have the nails removed because I couldn't stand them. I was seated with the same nail tech who did the application. She asked if I was sure I didn't just want a fill (!!!). She then removed my acrylics entirely with the dremel again and made my natural nails so thin that it was painful to wash my hands in lukewarm water for weeks afterwards. She advised me to take a break from acrylics and return in 3 months. I will not be returning. read more

I just moved here to Plymouth and was looking for a new nail salon. I came upon Zen through Yelp and went in for a gel manicure and pedicure. The place was very close, remodeled, and had a nice atmosphere. Prices were a little more expensive than I'm used to with my gel manicure costing $35 and another $35 for the spa pedicure (one step up from regular that includes scrub and extra massage). My french gel manicure was done by Tracy and I was happy with the results. The reason for the low rating though is due to my pedicure. It was nice that the massage was as long as they said and the color came out nice but the cut and blister on my big toe that I got after was terrible. The technician cut too deep and I've been walking in pain ever since Ive gotten my pedicure.Don't think I'll be coming here again with their high prices and crippling pedicure. read more

Not great quality or price. I just get my nails painted with regular polish on a regular basis. They kept on pressuring me to get gel nails, I'm just not interested for personal reasons. I have had gel nails before and I don't enjoy the process of getting them done... in and out of harmful UV lights. And then the take off process is terrible. They cover your fingernails with acitone soaked cotton balls and use tin foil to hold them on. I'm not interested in gel nails but my nail tech did not stop trying to up sell me on them. The one star review is because the simple polish change I received is bumpy and uneven. Not worth the $15 I was charged. I don't have a regular nail salon in the area as I am new here but this won't be it. Other places charge $10 or even $7 for better service. Ill be sure to review them so hopefully it helps more customers that find these reviews helpful. read more

I had a gift certificate from here so I went there to use it. I got a basic pedicure with gel polish, and then an acrylic full set with gel polish. While the pedicure was decent, they had me get my finger nails done at the same time. One of the workers was on my pedicure, while the other one was doing my nails on a pillow while I sat in the spa chair. I could tell they were in a rush to get me out of there. By the end, my nails looked like they were already a week old- like grown out. Later that night 4 of my nails popped off on my left hand. I had to file them and redo them myself. I just had the most wonderful experience at Zen today as I always do. My friend recommended me because the dip powder has strengthened her nails and now her nails are rock solid! I went with my sister today for a pedicure and we both were burned badly by the paraffin wax, we continued to tell them it was too hot and they weren't willing to let it cool down to give us the full effect of relaxation. Not to mention they used the same tools to scrap off the dead skin between my sister and I and rinsed them with water in between, no soap, just water... I generally adore Zen Nails. Zen Nails is great at what they do and the technicians go above bad beyond when they have the time. Therefore this is a busy place and very popular. When the staff at Zen Nails is not insanely busy, I notice that the quality of service goes up and the polish on my nails lasts longer. When staff at Zen Nails rushes to get as many customers in as possible, the quality of service goes down and I notice that my nail polish chips at a faster rate. I have received nail services at Zen Nails on about ten separate occasions so I feel comfortable making this statement. The best quality of service I have received has been during snow storms. Translation; when there are only customers including myself. Pros: - friendly staff - Clean, calm and welcoming environment - Free and easy to find parking. No parallel parking, HALLELUJAH. - Pricing is average for the area. Having a list of prices visible would be appreciated. - The nail technicians are gentle and do a great job with all ages; adults, seniors, youth; children etc. FYI, they do not have Children's pedicure chairs, only adult. I'm sure they wouldn't have a problem adjusting the Chairs for younger children. - Zen Nails offers a wide selection of nail/ nail polish options; gel, dip, acrylic etc. Cons: - Zen Nails tends to make unrealistic promises with wait times and their ability to offer multiple services at a given time. Even if one has a scheduled appointment, I've noticed that you typically have to wait 20 minutes plus past ones appointment time, especially on weekends. For example I come for a walk-in pedicure today. I was greeted and told it would be a 15-20 minute wait time. After 45 minutes, I was finally told that they were ready for me. It took an additional 12 minutes for a technician to start working on my nails. I had time to wait but not an hour long wait... - Lack of organization. They need a better system in place for time management. They need to be better about prioritizing those with appointments, walks ins and order of walk ins. - When my nail polish has chipped within 12-24 hours after receiving a service at Zen Nails , I hesitate to go back and get my chipped nails repaired because of how busy they are and long wait times. MISC: - have cash with you. Zen Nails accepts credit/ debit cards . If you can at least have cash for the tip that would be preferred. There is a gas station nearby with an ATM if you forget. - Come earlier in the day instead of later in the day. They tend to rush & quality declines within about 1-2 hours of their closing time. read more

Do NOT go here! I would give it zero stars if I could. I went here because my regular nail salon is being renovated. I should have waited. I walked in and was told they could do a fill in 5 minutes. Waited 15. Was sent to a guy in the back who looked like he hated life. I wanted pink ombré. He was hesitant. Then said something in a language I couldn't understand and then in English says " I can't do this". I was escorted to the waiting area. ( he had already started taking off my polish or I would've left). He and another girl continue to argue and he comes back to get me and says he can do it??! Uggg I shouldn't have went.
