Solar nails... where do I begin? When I walked in the salon was very nice looking and modern. My friend that I went with had made an appointment for the three of us. The nail techs welcomed and asked what we would like to be done. Myself and my friend requested dip nails. Well.... my friend who also requested dip nails did not get dip at all. When I saw what the nail tech was doing, he had informed me that it depends on the individuals nail bed. Then after being indecisive about choosing a dip color they asked me over and over again if I was ready. At this point I didn't choose a color. I finally chose a color and they began the process. After the nail tech finished my nails they looked lumpy and bumpy. These nails were HORRIBLE! I can't believe the nail tech allowed this. I will never return to this salon. Honestly I've gone to this place multiple times and the only person who does a good job is Kelly, which is why I'm giving it 1 star. Today she was busy so I went to Phillip ( owner+ husband) and he was rude to me the whole time, telling me I was picky when he filed my nails all different shapes and sizes. The whole time he wasn't paying attention to the filing he kept looking at who came in and trying to direct them somewhere. He then blamed me for my nails "growing crooked" and that yet again I was too picky. He proceeded to insult me some more saying id make a horrible doctor cause I would never be satisfied, it honestly drove me near tears . I never expected to be treated this way, especially as I've returned before and I'm a paying customer. All i wanted was to treat myself for graduation and i was already tired after a long day but instead this made it so much worse. Would not recommend, all the owner cares about it getting you in and out, does a terrible job and then blamed your nail for "being weird". Anyways better salons in town. 0/5. My friend and I wanted to get our nails done and she had a good experience last time. We regret not looking at the reviews before hand. The quality of service has gone down. The girls could not put their phones down. One kept taking calls the other would stop to text every other nail. We both wanted the "deluxe " manicure that the girl said cost $40. My friend got that but I did not, the girl did not ask or say a word to me she just immediately started drilling on my nails. She also couldn't get them to dry so she had to keep scraping it off and doing it again. Leaving my nails bumpy. When it came time to pay I was charged 41 (no wax just a half a**ed manicure) and my friend was charged 56. She ask why is was more than what the girl told her and the receptionist just kept saying no it's going to be 56. We would've asked the girl that did her nails but she left in a hurry to get her kids. We will definitely be trying a new place in the future. read more

I don't ever go to any salon but Zizi nail lounge. Me and my friend decided to be adventurous and try solar nails. Of course I get the owner - Philip. He proceeds to tell me that putting the dip powder on like it's acrylic would make it last longer. Okay whatever sounds great. So he does my nails which were gorgeous btw- then I ask for some cute design just something cute- ask him how much it's gonna be and he jokingly laughed and said 200$. Obviously that's not the price but I did ask how much multiple times. After I get done and go to the counter I'm told I owe 75$!!! So I'm aggravated but I'm willing to pay because I do like them. Well here it is not even 1 1/2 weeks later and ALL my nails are starting to lift and one completely popped off- and it's not even like it damaged my nail- it came off so easy with no trouble. I went to the Salon while visiting Waco and was highly disappointed. I got an acrylic fill and Sunny was quite aggressive. He refused to cut my nails short although that is what I was requesting. He skipped the base coat for my gel nails so the nail polish chipped a day after. I was very disappointed. Whomever did my pedicure did not ask me what kind of glitter I wanted on top of my nail polish, nor did he cut my toe nails as requested. Although he slightly filed them down, he left them in 2 very different shapes. Went in to get a full set - natural. No polish, no colored tip, no top coat. Since I'm a licensed cosmo, I do my own gel. I took a picture of the menu that said it was $25 for a set and the lady told me it went up $5. I get it, COVID. But it didn't, it went up $10 to $35. $10 to take off the old set. Fine. Whatever. What really upset me was the nail tech, Kim, completely destroyed my cuticles. And no cuticle oil either. And the acrylic is stuck to the sides of my cuticle/skin. My fingers are in pain.. If I could give this store a 0 i would. I went in for a fill on my nails and got a design with red crystals and was charged $100. Mind you the same exact set i got brand new 3 weeks ago from the shop was $100, the previous set also had crystals. When I informed the store owner I was never given the price and that it didn't make since on a fill he started to get loud with me. When i asked him to lower his voice because he needs to be professional he blamed it on the store music being too loud. Once the music was off he still yelled. Finally a manager came over and said she would take the crystals off and not charge the $20 for them but i still had to pay for the flower design which was $30. I sit patiently waiting my turn for the crystals to be removed. After a short while of sitting getting them removed the police approach me. The store owner has called the police on me. Never in my life have i felt so disrespected. To know i chose to use my hard earned money in their shop and for them to over charge for a design and crystals for $50 and call them out on it. Then for them to call the police. I wasn't rude, loud, or ignorant. Even when the cop approached he stated i was very calm but because the owner called he had to speak with me. Us women of color is this store main customers and i cant believe we still choose to do business with these type of people who treat us this way. Calling police on those that he know in many cases police react first and ask questions later. I will never in my life go back to this establishment and i will continue to tell everyone i know about their ways. read more

Worst gel manicure I have ever had! The girl cut back my cuticles so much, 3 of my nails bled and she used nail glue to stop the bleeding. She watched a video on her phone the whole time and didn't even bother to ask how I wanted my nails shaped. They try to get you in and out of here as fast as possible. Absolutely horrible. I was visiting Texas and needed a pedicure, I had my pedicure done here and the woman doing it knew nothing about nails or skin. She cut me and put 5 coats of gel nail polish on. She got the polish on the sides of my skin and proceeded to TRY. (and failed miserably ) to remove it, she cut me and made my skin RAW. Absolutely disgusting. Ruined my trip. Unprofessional, unsanitary and absolutely the worst pedicure I have ever received in my life. Do not be fooled by fake reviews. Their technics are horrible, most of them need to return to cosmetology school(if they even went) and relearn EVERYTHING. I don't know how they got their license. First off, I gave it one star, because I had to leave something. This nail shop is not worth the space it's in. I went there after work because it was closer than my normal nail shop. The customer service is terrible, & my nail tech could barely communicate with me. After ONE week, several of my nails had fine cracks across the nail bed. JUST A COUPLE DAYS LATER, two of my nails have broken to where it has caused me to bleed. There was no pressure, trauma or anything. They just BENT and snapped like cheap press ons; one while putting on a seatbelt & the other while opening a door. My nails never break like this, nor am I hard on my hands. I have been to Solar Nail a handful of times and today I had the WORST experience. I understand that Fridays can be hectic, I get it. Came in and sat down with the owner who quickly got tips on my fingers. He left me to another woman (Ivy I believe) to finish up. It's busy, no big deal. HOWEVER, this woman was incredibly RUDE!! I had a wrist injury a while back and my wrist is still sore at times. She was twisting my wrist and by instinct I resisted a little and she grabbed me and YANKED and scolded me "CAN YOU DONT MOVE?" Instantly pain shot through my arm. She didn't know, so I just told her that my arm was hurt. But she couldn't hear me past her air pods because the entire time she did my nails she was WATCHING TV ON HER PHONE! She was more interested in her phone than my nails. She made the nails long and I asked her to go shorter and she didn't. Then I asked for MATTE and I got glossy. Not to mention, she put gel polish on and there was a hair on my nail that she SET with the light and it hardened into my nail. I pointed it out, but again she ignored me. Left acrylic all over my fingers that I'm still trying to get off HOURS LATER. And the corners were so sharp that I kept hurting myself and my children, so I had to file them. She was just careless and rude. And to add insult to injury, my ticket was $70!! Outrageous!! I always get the same style and colors here and usually pay $50 for the set. So she definitely over charged. It was extremely busy, so I paid and left but unless this situation is address and fixed, I will not return. Unfortunately this was my worst experience ever at a nail salon. I called ahead to ask if they were taking reservations on Friday, they told me walk ins only. Which was fine, when I got there I brought my grandmother and my Aunt, I had asked for a simple manicure. Although my my grandmother and Aunt were served, they had asked for pedicures. I wait over an hour, when I asked if I could wait with my grandmother and Aunt until they were ready for me, the receptionist informed me I was not allowed to wait with them. I ended up leaving without my nails done and was ignored by the receptionist the entire time I was there. An afternoon meant to be spent with my family was not nearly what I expect from a hospitality based business. My grandmother and Aunt then told me their pedicures were poor workmanship at best. read more

The tech dipped each nail at least 6 times that I counted and pulled out the light used for gel manicures. My nails were like cement. It was horrible. My friend and I went in for pedicures. The person who took care of me was nice and did a good job. The hot water heater had broken so the water was cold. No biggie. I could handle it and they were really good about heating up water and adding it to the foot bath. The problem I had was when it came time to pay. They had a $1 fee for using a debit card. There was NOTHING anywhere in the place or around the register to warn us about it, either. I was furious about that. I can understand not wanting to get hit with the vendor fee, but if you don't want to pay the fee (as a business), then only accept cash. Don't wait until the customer is paying WITH A CARD to tell them about the fee. They said NOTHING about it until I got to the cashier. I will not be returning. I hope that fee was worth it because you have lost two customers. My friend was angry about it, too. read more

I usually only come here for pedicures and they're awesome. However, I recently came in for SNS nail treatment. I asked her the price and she said $40 for real nails, which was the case for me. After picking my color, they soaked my old SNS color off by left me sitting there for over 25 minutes. I watched two people that came in after me get acrylics and pay and leave before anyone even talked to me again. The front desk attendant ignored me when I tried to get her attention. The person that ended up doing my nails was not good and left the SNS looking patchy and some of my nails uneven (see middle finger nail). He also left a lot of SNS on my surrounding cuticle. My friend that came in with me was able to get a full pedicure and SNS done in the time it took one person to do my SNS. Then they charged me $50 because I had to soak off the old SNS color, however this is a part of the service because there's no other way to get a new SNS color without first removing the old. I also wasn't offered anything to drink until they were pretty much done with my nails. I would never come back here to get my nails done because they overcharge for things that should be a part of the service and because they so easily forgot about a customer. read more

I came in for an eyebrow wax but was super hesitant because I am very picky about my brows. They are very full so I always go to the same person because she knows that I only like to clean them up and not mess with the shape. Since I have moved to Waco, I haven't seen her.I decided that too many months had passed without getting my brows done and it really showed. I stumbled upon this place accidentally because I went to the wrong address but decided to proceed anyway. When I walked in, COVID precautions were taken seriously and they took my temperature and the nail area looked very professional and put together. I was concerned when I was put into the waxing room and saw that the cover on the laying table looked dirty and stained and was being covered by the paper used in doctors offices. It did take some time for someone to come in and begin but because there were two other walk in waxes who came in at the same time as me, I didn't focus too much on it. Rochelle, who seemed to be the manager based on her name tag, came in and sanitized everything. She understood what I wanted and was very matoculus. She excited exactly what I asked for which I really appreciated. My toe polish had bumps and smears in it and my nails weren't covered in gel polish. The gel manicure lasted a day before it started chipping. Also, this salon is pretty ghetto. Went there last week for the first time and asked for matte black almond nails. At first the guy who did my nails seemed nice but as soon as he was done he shoved me over to the drying station and didn't say a word. I ended up smearing two of my nails and when I was finally able to get the owners attention he was able to fix it and was very pleasant. I ended up sitting there for about 20 minutes without anyone checking on me and that is when I noticed that he didn't put the matte top coat on my whole nail which resulted it in being shiny by my cuticles and on the sides of my fingers. As soon as I noticed that I let someone know that it wasn't done right and finally by tech decides to show up and ask what did I mess up. I tried to explain to him that my whole nail is supposed to be matte not just parts and he proceeded to argue with me and say that is how it is supposed to be, even a couple of people at the drying station with me commented on how rude he was . Once he 'fixed' it he left me at the dryer and that was the last I saw of him. I ended up waiting another 20 minutes and left and before I even pulled out of the parking lot my nails were smudged. I ended up spending more money to buy matte top coat and black polish and fixing it myself. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had... While waiting to go to the pedicure chair, three different customers complained about extras the nail tech were charging them for that had not even been discussed.
