Solar Solution is fantastic. They run their business in an organized fashion and do efficient, great work. My husband and I recently bought a house in Upper NW DC with significant solar paneling on the roof. Having moved from previously living in a condo... dealing with solar panels was a little out of our element. The company that had originally installed the panels 10 years ago no longer existed, and for a roof repair, we had to get the solar panels removed.... and then put back on once the repair was made. We were completely lost as to what next steps were. We called Solar Solutions and were able to easily schedule a panel removal date and panel re-install date. We actually even had to change these dates at one point, so we called the office, and they helped us quickly. The friendly and personable crew showed up to remove the panels, helped us identify a storage location on our property, and worked incredibly efficiently to essentially assembly-line our 30 panels off the roof and into our garage. It took only a couple of hours and they headed out. They were back the next week to put the panels back on, and the panels are back in use. They were also able to answer some questions about our outdoor solar panel breaker control panel for us, and had their electrician come check out the wiring. This was incredibly helpful. We received a very straightforward, clear invoice via email, which we appreciated, and we thought for the work they did, the price was extremely fair. We're so glad we found these guys. We'll definitely stay in touch with them on any solar needs we have in the future. We were truly clueless about this process and they made it a very easy one for us. The installer is mistaken about who is responsible. The 3rd party inspector files the report with DOB and the installer, Solar Solution DC LLC. The Installer hired the Inspection company. According to the DCMR 12A, the Installer must review the paperwork that the inspector submits for accuracy. I received a copy of the report from Solar Solution DC LLC and it was clearly filled out incorrectly. It was missing the inspectors signature, it didn't have a full date, it didn't reference any permit numbers (there should have been 2) , and the report only mentioned an electrical inspection and not a physical inspection. The one inspection, electrical, should have failed the first time because the installer didn't properly label the electrical components. The installer really should hire someone who specializes in municipal regulations. Furthermore, if you find an installer on your property and they feed you a garbage salad about how they don't need your permission to be on your property because they're doing "protective work", then know that the DCMR 12A Section 3307 expressedly prohibits installers to be on your property prior to the homeowner receiving a request for access, in writing, that the homeowner has the right to either approve or reject. Neighbor Notification forms also can be either approved or rejected when access is needed and if it's rejected, so does the installers permit until the request for access is changed in the work plan. But, hey, if you never report it, who's to know... Right? read more

In late fall of 2015, my partner and I signed up with Sigora Solar to have panels installed on our residential rooftop. From our very first meeting, we found that every single person with whom we worked was not only knowledgeable, but happy to educate us. They got all our questions answered - no matter how seemingly ignorant or technical!. And refreshingly, if someone didn't know the answer, he'd just admit it (instead of pretending to know) and then find out from someone who did! In fact, it was apparent from the beginning that the Sigora folks work together as a really tight team, each supporting one another to support us in the best way possible. The crew worked virtually non-stop to install a complex configuration of 21 panels (around skylights and a chimney) on our 45 roof, mostly in the pouring rain, and with an exemplary work ethic. Any kinks were ironed out along the way, the result being that we have now had our final inspection, and are happily monitoring our very own solar gain! I had an installation done by this company a month ago where we had a 6KW system (pretty large) installed on our roof. We were told we were facing South and our roof literally has nothing on it so we could fit a massive amount of panels. At first we wanted to go with a lease (which would be cheaper -250$) But because of the subsidies, it cut down the price to a point where a few thousand dollars would mean we had our very own electricity. Service-wise, these guys were not pushy, and were pretty chill. They didn't try to "sell" what we did not need. I actually visited their office on 14th st, and it was a small company, but had very friendly people. Installation- took place 2 months after signing contract because of the paper work that had to be done. Apparently it takes some time to get through Pepco (surprise, surprise). But the installation itself took only a day. The panels- I got the profile of the panels, and apparently the panels have a 25 year warranty which is very good for a new technology like this. Also, I was told that they don't have to be cleaned or maintained (we will see in the future I guess). Overall, I would definitely recommend them. They are quick, friendly, and actually listen to what you tell them. read more

They sent a friendly and very responsive guy in the beginning. It all changes once you sign the contract. I had so much difficulty afterwards: they scheduled the installation date then they would cancel on the same day or the day before without much notice. They did this twice. Also they needed to talk to my roofer and coordinate which isn't that hard of a job. But they would just ignore and not contact my roofer. After the installation, their communication was worst. They told me to contact PEPCO for meter change and PEPCO sent me an email saying the Solar Solution had to finish paper work first. Again very poor communication. There are a few options for solar companies, I strongly recommend staying away from this company. Not sure how they have such good reviews, perhaps they used to be good and now they got busy and don't know how to run it well anymore? In any case, they have very bad communication with customer, among themselves, and with other contractors. read more

Solar Solution installed a 4KW solar system on my flat roof in April 2014 as part of the Ward 3 group purchase. The upshot of my very positive experience with the owner and the installers was that all was done in a timely manner, at an excellent price, and they went above and beyond to take care of all the District paperwork. This included a re-submission of the permit applications and fees when the District decided to change their form in the middle of the process. I would recommend this company to anyone who would like to install solar panels in the District. They were willing to accomodate my need to subcontract a new roof as part of the installation of the panels, and were willing to accomodate my desire to know all the little details of the process and in the end there were no surprises. Solar solutions installed 22 solar panels on my house. They took care of everything, literally: from the Pepco approval process, installation of the panels, processing the 30% federal tax credit, to basically educating me on the basics of SREC investment. My only regret is that I should have done this much earlier. If you have a house in DC and you don't have a solar panel on your roof, you are LITERALLY missing out....a lot. It is just a no brainer. if you don't want to make investment for the panels, you can install the panels essentially for free when you take into account the 30% tax credit you will get. In the end, I slashed my electric bill by a significant amount/percentage for the next 25 years (or more). Having solar panels also helps on your house value. The owner, JD, is super nice and professional and great at providing insights, suggestions and assistance during the installation and approval. We choose Solar Solution they came in with the lowest bid including having a good reputation with understanding how to work with DC government and Pepco . Atta was very attentive in following up with all the questions I had prior and during the installation process. He was at the site during the instillation and afterwards to ensure all the work was done correctly. He and his team went the extra mile to make sure that my house was properly wired and was up to code. They would respond to me with a few hours if I had questions regarding permitting process, including other questions I had. Solar Solution [SS] installed new generation Enphase micro-inverters that we bought under an Enphase promotion to get out from under their first generation inverters prone to failure. SS had to remove all 50 panels to make the conversion at our house in DC. During the project, they found issues [from sun/heat exposure] with the electrical sub-panel that had been originally installed by another company on the roof. They came up with a great solution by replacing that panel with one that sits on the side of the house [and encompasses the new intelligent Enphase Envoy, which can also later be used for a battery storage system]. SS was timely with all appointments and the crews were all very professional [including the initial crew, the electrician, and Harlan, the tech who did a great job with the final tie-in/inverter mapping. Solar Solutions is a wonderful company because there are third party contractors involved. They do the entire job on installing and helping to ensure that your system works properly. I had an issue with Pepco and how the new meter was installed. Solar Solution's electrician got to my house before Pepco and help to resolve the electrical problem until Pepco could fix it. Also, Doug the salesman who sold me on purchasing solar for my home has been in touch with even after the installation. He called and emailed me several times to see if my problem had been resolved. I really appreciate Doug and the care he showed. I would highly recommend this solar company. read more

Solar Solutions installed panels on my roof and a month later we had a big leak in our ceiling. I assumed that it was a result of the installation. I emailed the folks at solar solutions and they had someone out that Monday morning to take a look at the roof. They discovered that it was not leaking as a result of the installation but for another reason. Instead of calling it a day, they actually patched the leak themselves free of charge. Solar Solution are very professional and easy to work with. We had 38 panels installed in 2010 and we have been very happy with the system.
