I cannot recommend Celestial highly enough. Jim and his top notch team were phenomenal from the start. I researched a few solar companies before Celestial, but Celestial stood out from the start. First, Jim was incredible to work with. He answered every question I threw his way, and offered information that I wasn't even knowledgeable enough to know I didn't know. He was beautifully patient as he provided me a robust education of the system, including a thorough walkthrough and understanding of the entire process. Certainly, his kind demeanor was a major contributor to my decision to go with Celestial. But it wasn't just that. He possessed the info, math, and science to back it up. In fact, of all the companies I contacted, Jim's understanding of the complexities of panel numbers, placement, roof angles, tree shadow issues, sun seasonal angles, capability of the existing electric system, etc., made my decision rather easy. As I just said, it was the math and science that won me over. Along with Celestial using the newest (and most excellently reviewed) microinverters that clearly put the company in a completely different stratosphere than the competition. As the process progressed, I reached out often to Jim with many questions. His responses/communications were always timely, and so clear and articulate that the process kept unpacking itself with his kindness, expertise, care, and patience. And finally, the quoted cost of the system was not just reasonable, but the best price for any I was quoted, although the materials Celestial was utilizing were far superior. I must also give a shout out to the installation team. I got an exact date when they would arrive. They worked tirelessly to be done by the date and time specified, often foregoing breaks to keep the integrity of the promise. The team was in frequent correspondence with Jim, as every project can run into unexpected issues. But with each one, the best choices were taken after consultation. Wiring rerouted because of unexpected attic wiring issues. They patiently, and at their expense, worked around the idiosyncrasies of my home. Once the electricians got there and took apart the electric box, another issue was discovered that my panel was too old and small and could not handle so new system or it's wiring. So Jim, through Celestial, installed a new box, not charging me another cost, but instead replacing totally at Celestial's expense, to better house the new system. Because the panel was replaced, there was also wall repair that had to be done to the drywall, as the new box was obviously a different size. So, when all was done, an excellent contractor came out to repair the walls as if nothing had happened. Everyone that Jim works with, installers, designers, electricians, contractors, are all excellent from top to bottom. Finally, Jim, as ever, was patient in making sure the electrical company and the County came on the days I was told to approve the system. Additionally, Jim walked me through making sure all paperwork was completed on time to get the Maryland MEA Solar Access Rebate, as well as educating me on how to get the Federal Rebate once tax time comes at the end of the year. He also assisted helping me sign up with a reputable company so I could get my SREC's sold. It's comforting and a relief to see such integrity and investment from Celestial throughout the whole journey. Evident from before I decided to go with them all the way to all the processes after the work was done. Jim and the company make it clear that they wish to keep in contact long after the project is complete, because they all wish to be of help and connected for as long as I have the panels. So...I will probably talking with Celestial for years to come, as their communications are always open, and knowing that, and all the exceptional work they did as a team, I give Celestial my highest recommendation, without reservation. It's been 4 months since Celestial Solar Innovations installed our solar panels and we couldn't be happier with the result. I provide some details below, but in summary, I highly recommend Jim and his crew at Celestial Solar Innovations. If you are trying to choose a solar panel installer, you should look no further. Read more to understand why. Soon after we bought our home in Rockville (in mid-2016), we started considering solar panels. A chance encounter with Solar City in Home Depot and a subsequent visit informed us that due to our roof's predominant southern exposure and our relatively low annual power usage (~6,000 Kilowatt hours - KWh), our home would likely be a good candidate for rooftop solar. Before jumping on board, I decided to do some research. I almost decided to have a different company install based on a recommendation from a work colleague. However, when I read the glowing (all 5-star) reviews for Celestial Solar Innovations, I decided to send an inquiry. I am very glad I did. Jim Reilly, the owner of Celestial, promptly responded and we talked on the phone soon thereafter. Jim answered all my questions and politely suggested a follow-up discussion at our home with my wife so that all concerns could be surfaced. During this initial meeting, Jim was not in the least bit pushy. In fact, Jim is a delightful person. He was patient, respectful, and considerate of our time. He obviously takes great pride in providing superior service and ensuring his customers are 100% satisfied. On our first call and during all our meetings, Jim provided detailed and thoughtful answers to our questions. I was impressed with his depth of knowledge not just about the technical specifications about the solar panels and the installation process, but also about the Maryland grant ($1,000) and federal tax credit (30% through 2019). During that first meeting, Jim was able to show us that with 18-21 panels we would likely be able to generate about 6,000 KWh (of power, which would be enough to offset our consumption. He also showed us two of the best-in-class solar panel options and explained their pros and cons (including aesthetic considerations as well as power generation potential, efficiency, durability, etc.). Finally, because we asked, Jim walked us through the installation process starting with permitting and ending with PEPCO giving the green light to switch on the system. Having read reviews of other companies in which customers expressed frustration with how long the last step (turning the 'on' switch) could take, Jim took care to explain that he has had 100% success meeting the timeline he outlined. He did not mislead or disappoint. Our first meeting with Jim was in early December. His crew had the panels and inverter installed in March, and because of his careful oversight PEPCO approved the whole project before end of March. This timeline could have been even faster but we needed to replace our aging roof first. Jim kindly connected us with a fantastic roofing company (PJ's), which gave us a competitive quote and completed the job in late February. During this period, Jim's crew was busy obtaining all the necessary permits and approvals. In the end, we elected to go with only 18 panels (Panasonic), which cover about half of the front of our roof. We are still obsessed with them. They look great and so far they've generated nearly 3 Megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity. Because Maryland allows net metering, which allows PEPCO to credit us for our production, our total bill for the past 3 months has been $5. Once the panels were actively producing power, Jim followed up with us to ensure that we were satisfied and if we had any questions. He also helped us submit the application for the Maryland grant, which we gratefully accepted. We received the grant check about 2 weeks ago. I don't normally write reviews, in fact, this is my very first one. The short review is that Celestial Solar Innovations is the best solar installer in the area. Pick them and know that you will receive the best system for your needs and it will be effective and worry free for 25+ years. If you want to know why, continue to the long version below. We've always been pro-solar, but have always pushed it off for later. I guess its because the project seems daunting with a lot of unknowns. How do we get started? How does it work? How do I know what system I need? Do I have to get the utilities involved? How do I find the best installer? What if they do a terrible job? Do I need a permit? Is my roof going to leak? How much power will I really make? Can I afford this? What questions am I forgetting to ask? Is now the right time? Let me introduce you to Celestial Solar Innovations. I spent the better part of a month researching solar technology and solar installers and concluded that the right time is now and the right installer is Celestial Solar Innovations. I worked with Jim (the owner) from the beginning all the way to the end. They are the best because: 1. Knowledgeable. I had compiled a list of questions and concerns. Celestial Solar Innovations has carefully selected only the best and most proven parts that the industry offers. Everything chosen is geared towards having zero maintenance, zero problems and the best power generation for 25+ years. Even the placement of things and how and where to run the wiring is carelly chosen and expertly implemented to keep your house looking awesome. For my house, you cannot even tell that we are running solar unless you go to the backyard. There is no ugly galvanized piping that runs down my roof to the side of my house for example. 5. Worryfree. Jim will be there from beginning to end. I did my research and had a giant checklist. Each item was accounted for by Jim in their process. All of the paper work with the utility, the county, the rebates, the financing, the scheduling for inspection, utility meter installation, approval etc. were all done by Celestial. When my husband and I decided that we wanted to have solar panels installed, we did an extensive amount of research and believed we were experts when we finally began our search for a company to install the system. Jim Reilly of Celestial Solar Innovations represented one of four solar companies we scheduled to meet with. We were immediately comfortable with Jim when he came to our home to discuss our goals and options. We did not feel any amount of pressure during the entirety of the meeting. There was never any ego in his pitch (something we felt with a couple of the other contractors), just pride and sincerity. The valuable information Jim provided led us to quickly realize that we were not the experts we believed we were. Jim patiently listened to and answered our questions and concerns, and by the end of the meeting we felt that Jim had not only given us a clear understanding of what we could expect both immediately and in the future, but also that we could secure an even better system than we had imagined without exceeding our budget. He thoroughly described the make-up of the system. As we were considering our options over the next couple of weeks, Jim responded quickly and intelligently to all of our questions. The look of the panels was a high priority to us. We purchased the all black LG panels that Jim suggested and, in my opinion, our roof looks sharper than any other solar roof in our neighborhood or beyond because of those panels! It was also important to us that the conduits not be visible on the roof, and he assured us that they could be run through our attic, which they were. Jim was the only one of the four individuals we met with to tell us about the Quick Mount Elevated Seal anchors that his installers utilize, and I have peace of mind that our roof will have no leaks resulting from the anchors. We were provided various production expectations based upon different system sizes and ultimately went with a system that gives us a 100% return. It is very rewarding when I look at my BGE bill and see multiple days of credits to be applied against minimal charges that result from overcast and rainy days. Our first post-solar BGE bill was $28.00, and that is because we had a week without solar on that cycle, and we contribute to the Fuel Fund. We expect a credit on our next bill. The cost of the system was also a priority, of course. One of Jim's first comments in that regard was that he predicted he would provide the second lowest quote to us. He was correct, but by the time we made our myriad of changes to our original specifications, his quote became the lowest of the four we received. He carefully explained the federal and state credits we would receive, as well as SRECs, and calculated that we would recoup all of our costs within seven years, well within the warranty period and long before we would have to replace any parts of the system. The process couldn't have been easier on our end. We simply had to make the decisions, be home for a day, and write the checks. We have yet to reap the benefit of the credits, as we get to claim them on our 2017 returns, but we expect that Jim has proactively done all that needs to be done to secure those credits for us. From a technical, business, and overall interaction perspective, we were delighted from beginning to end with the honest transparency, quality work and responsiveness of Jim and his entire team. After checking with several suppliers and receiving phone or internet responses and quotes, Jim immediately stood out in wanting to come and meet with us after gathering some preliminary information. Unlike many contractors, Jim spoke to both of us (not just the husband). He was very knowledgeable and, more importantly, able to move from technical details to layman's language as we needed it. We were first referred to Celestial Solar Innovations by a neighbor who had a system installed 7+ years ago and spoke very highly of them. After meeting with Jim for the first time, we understood why. Celestial Solar's excellent customer service starts the moment you interact with the company, and it is evident that Jim's personal commitment and vision as a business-owner permeates throughout this entire team. Jim briefly informed us of his story to his eventual founding of Celestial Solar and why, at this time, he only focuses on providing the best service to his customers in Maryland. He presented a detailed qualifications package, and a proposal based on previously requested information that contained all the pertinent information needed for us to make an informed decision. He patiently answered our many questions and provided expert feedback. As the discussion turned to acquisition of an EV, Jim adjusted the proposal to account for all downstream impacts related to future production and consumption including upgrades needed to the electric panel for EV charging. We were shopping for solar panels for our house in Maryland, but wanted to put them on a new shed we were building. The shed roof was designed to maximize number of panels, faces south southwest and has no shade. We called several companies including a large supplier in the area. We were impressed with the responsiveness and professionalism of Jim Reilly with Celestial Solar Innovations (CSI). We had done quite a bit of research online before contacting any companies; Jim's informative approach was just what we needed to fill in the blanks. He listened to our "requirements" and offered options for the type and number of panels that satisfied all of them. Jim acted more as a mentor than a salesman as we discussed pros and cons of each option. Jim's quotes were in line with the large supplier and more reasonable than other companies. We decided to go with CSI and Panasonic panels. Panasonic for their performance knowing we will be in the house for a long time. Part of our discussions with Jim included the installation process. Once we signed the contract we knew we would go into a 'quiet' period for a few weeks before the physical installation took place. During this time we would get sporadic e-mails from the county and the electric company so we knew Jim was busy taking care of the permitting/approvals. Once we had approval the installation was scheduled for a couple weeks out, the delay was due to weather. When the crew arrived they were polite and enthusiastic. Have not heard that much banter between a bunch of guys over two days without a cuss word (which impressed my wife and not our granddaughter). Each knew their role whether wiring in the house, in the shed or installing support rails and panels on the roof. Before they left they cleaned up to the point we would not have known they were there except for the panels, inverter and disconnects. When we initially looked at getting solar panels we decided to research multiple companies. Over several weeks we looked into about 8 different companies ranging from smaller local companies to large national companies. We met with 5 of these companies and Celestial Solar Innovations was the final meeting. From our first meeting, it became very clear that Jim was the best fit for our needs. He was able to answer all of our questions and clearly explain the process and timeline. A key selling point was his explanation of the equipment he would be using as well as why he felt that it was the best. We had already done extensive research into the solar array business but we were still able to learn something new by talking to Jim. Jim also being local and very familiar with the permitting and inspection process was another reason we decided to move forward with him. We had multiple questions throughout the process and Jim took the time to provide thorough explanations. The entire process from the initial meeting to receiving Permission to Operate took just over 3 months. The installation crew was able to complete the installation in 2 days. There were a few minor issues that popped up in the process but Jim was always available to remedy the situation. After researching solar products and companies, Celestial Solar jumped to the front of my list because it was local and because reviews gave the feeling of a very personable experience. This was reinforced when the owner, Jim, came by to visit. He spent quite a bit of time with us giving us the history of the company and getting to know us. When we got to the actual products he again spent a lot of time explaining and answering questions though there was no sales push. When we decided this was the way we wanted to go, he provided us with our options and let us decide what was best for us. He remained with us through the entire process again explaining everything that was being done and answering any questions. He was always available and followed up everything quickly. We met with Jim Reilly, of Celestial Solar Solutions in the fall of 2024, when we were getting bids for a solar installation. Jim impressed us right off the bat with his years of experience, clear presentation, and professional manner. After we agreed to go with Celestial Solar Solutions, Jim began the process of getting the permits we needed to install solar panels on our house over the winter of 2025. He. was very open to my suggestions for modifying his initial design and we went back-and-forth a few times before we got what in my view was the optimal design, with maximum coverage on our south-facing roof planes. Celestial Solar Solutions offers a winter installation discount. However, because the winter was harsher than expected, the installation was delayed until April, yet the company still honored the winter discount. Once the permits were approved and the weather warmed up, Jim's employees began the installation process from finalizing the exact layout of the panels on the roof to assessing the capacity of our fuse box and electrical connections. On the day of the installation, about eight installers and electricians arrived and got the job done before the day's end. The crew was efficient, neat, and professional. Several weeks later, our system was up and running. In late spring, Jim also alerted us to the Maryland energy administration's solar access program. We applied and were awarded a rebate of over $5000; that's in addition to the federal solar rebate we are already getting. Our entire experience with Celestial Solar Solutions has been top-notch. After researching solar, joining the Montgomery County Solar Co-Op, serving on the Co-op Installer Selection Committee, and interviewing more than a half-dozen installers, I ultimately chose Celestial Solar Innovations to install my 9.75 kW system. I liked dealing with the owner Jim Reilly. Important to me, they used higher quality materials (panels, mounts) than many other installers and were competitively priced. I need a new roof and Celestial coordinated with the roofer of my choice (PJ's - highly recommended) and the combined project went smoothly and as-promised. The pre-install paperwork with Pepco, the county, and my HOA was taken care of on-schedule. Celestial's installers were attentive to details - they had to cut the basement drywall to install the interior breaker and patched it perfectly; conduit runs were neat and discretely placed, visible panel mounting rails were painted to blend with the roof, etc. I've seen cheap looking installs and the difference is very noticeable. I checked the roof penetrations from inside my attic and none missed the rafters. Gary (site foreman) and Chris (electrician) communicated well and were happy to answer my questions. The roof crew was friendly, cleaned the job site thoroughly, and didn't damage the landscaping. The county inspection was scheduled promptly and went smoothly. After 2 months I've had no problems with any part of the system and the production has been better than I'd estimated. I couldn't be happier with my experience working with Celestial to install residential solar. They came highly recommended from my neighbor. Between our roof estimates and solar estimates, I met with a bunch of contractors. Some are clearly just trying to make a sale. Some are pushy. Some you can't wait for them to leave. Some you don't feel you can trust. Jim I trusted through and through. There was no question that we wanted to work with Jim. The whole crew is very professional, respectful, super responsive and available, patient with questions (and I had a ton!), knowledgeable, etc. It was frankly a delight as far as contractors go. They get an A+ for communication. I always knew the schedule and what was happening next. Jim has also followed up after the installation as well to make sure everything is good and to see if I have any more questions. This also came together at the end of 2025 after the federal tax credit was cancelled effective in 2026. Even though Jim was crazy busy and quite uncertain if they could get it done in 2025, he still took my call and met with us (some companies wouldn't even return my call or email). He was very upfront and honest about the likelihood of it happening in 2025. In the end they were able to get us in on time, which was awesome. This truly was the best contractor experience I've had, and going solar is a huge investment and a big deal (at least for me it was), so having someone like Jim to hold my hand through it and provide me assurance that it would be done well was super appreciated. read more

I considered a solar system as an investment that requires a substantial upfront cost. After careful research on solar energy, vendors and evaluation of various proposals, I made the decision to proceed with Celestial Solar Innovations. The system went live in July 2020 and I am happy with the results, paying $0 for electricity, so far. After extensive reading of online reviews, I talked to 5 different companies and requested proposals from them. I decided on Celestial Solar Innovations as Jim did a great job in explaining the proposed options in detail. He communicated regularly, making sure that I had all the answers I needed. The company has high quality components at competitive prices. Also, I felt that as the owner of the company, Jim would be more responsive to problems that I may have during and after the installation, as opposed to some salespeople at other companies. A common complaint from solar system users is that many installers overpromise the performance of the system. Jim understood my concern, so he included a guarantee that the system will produce a minimum amount of Kwhs annually in the contract. The company handled all the paperwork on HOA, County permit, MD grant, SREC trade, etc., properly and promptly. The installation went smoothly. Afterwards, a company employee was present during the county inspection and later for the net meter installation by BGE. I met with 4 different companies before deciding on Celestial Solar Innovations.  All the others were hard core salespeople that only cared about getting me to sign and take their financing options.  My property is large. 4 acres and electric is our only utility so the bills are quite high.  Jim from Celestial took a lot of time to design the perfect system for my needs and he also explained the pro's and con's of the finance companies those other guys use. Jim, as the owner of the company, once I signed the paperwork is when he really went to work for me.  They handled all the permits with the county which included working around my septic system and the structural integrity of my roof.  All the paperwork from A-Z with Pepco was done perfectly.  We needed a 410 foot trench dug from our barn back to the main house electric box and they used top notch guys that put everything back like it was before they started trenching.  The original design was a little too large for Pepco to handle so Jim quickly retooled his original design to bring the number of panels down but figured out how to still keep me around 95+% of my electric needs per month.  I am super pleased with these guys and I would recommend them to anyone looking for solar.  If you have anything beyond a simple cookie cutter design, you need to call Celestial (I am sure they can do the cookie cutter too).  Once again, the guys on Jim's team which included electrician's, installers, landscapers and more were all top-notch professionals! read more

Jim and the Celestial team were fantastic to work with throughout the entire process. At the first consultation meeting, Jim came prepared with lots of information and recommendations specific to our home. Jim's approach to sales is very conversational and low pressure. We were immediately comfortable with the company's expertise and professionalism. After our decision to go with Celestial for our solar system, the excellent service continued through the installation process. Celestial handled all of the permitting and communication with PEPCO and the county. Once it was time for installation, the crew was very punctual, professional, and communicated well. They completed the work per the expected timelines and cleaned up all of the construction waste/debris afterwards. When the county inspector wanted a minor change in the system installation, they fixed it the next day. After installation, when Jim discovered an issue with one of the solar panels during his routine monitoring, he brought it to our attention and scheduled the Celestial crew to come back and fix the issue within a week. Once our system was 'live', Jim also walked us through the process of filing for the state grant and the solar energy credits. Our system has been live for a few months and even in winter, our solar system electricity generation has more than offset our electricity usage. Jim and his team were great. Professionals all the way through the whole process. I did a lot of upfront research on solar and the various installers, having many quotes generated for our house. Jim was not only the most responsive, but also very fairly priced compared to others. He approached it not as a salesman, but as a discussion of investment. Once we decided to go with Jim and his team, he worked diligently with us to make sure our design maximized our roof area, met our energy goals, and looked aesthetically pleasing. His team handled all of the paperwork and permitting required for the process. Installation took 4 days from beginning to end. You know they are taking their time and doing quality work during that installation, and were courteous to our needs as homeowners in terms of coordinating the interior work. You also know you have a good team working with you when Jim refers to everyone on the installation team by their name. If you went with Tesla or someone else, they subcontract out the installation, and you wouldn't get that same personal connection and quality between design team and installer. You also have the best warranty out there with Jim and his team being certified Panasonic Installers (All Guard Warranty - 25 yrs on modules and labor). Bottom line up front: If you are reading this, you are considering solar. You have many options. If, at the very least, you do not sit down with Mr. Jim Reilly than you are doing yourself a disservice. It was his professionalism, knowledge, and willingness to answer (many) of my questions; all while treating me like I was his one and only customer that sealed my decision. I have not regretted that decision and love the quality of work he and his team did. His entire team carries his demeanor and professionalism. The ratings you see about Celestial Solar are genuine and indicative of what you can expect. Prior to meeting with Mr. Reilly I had been approached by [COMPANY THAT WILL REMAIN NAMELESS] and the salesman was doing his job. Not knocking him, but the lack of all the characteristics I mentioned above was a deal breaker for me. They did, however, peek my interest in solar. After doing my research and coming across Celestial Solar (and all of their great reviews), I decided to setup a meeting. If you have read this far, you know exactly what took place after the meeting. Again, you have many options, but do yourself a favor and give Celestial Solar a meeting. If my experience is any indication of what you can expect - you will not regret it. I have nothing but great things to say about Celestial solar. I started the process of considering solar energy in 2019, and contacted Celestial, but I decided that I was not financially ready. Jim Reilly was very patient, not the least bit pushy. I waited until 2020, and everything went smoothly. Jim designed for me the perfect system, with most of the panels on the south facing roof. Not too many panels in total, just enough to generate a little more than my usual yearly amount. The installation group was a joy to work with. You can tell when people are happy working for a company, when they are happy on the job. They were friendly and talkative, and always asking me if everything looked OK. And of course they wore masks. Edit: i forgot to mention they took care of my old circuit breaker box, replaced it with a new one, and I get the federal tax credit applied to that purchase as well! Jim and his company take care of all of the details concerning finances after the panels are installed. He provided me the documents for obtaining the renewable energy grant from the state of Maryland, and informed me about solar and renewable energy credits (SRECs). They also provide a website that tabulates your energy usage, so that you can see how well your system is working. I can't say enough good things about my decision to work with Celestial, and obtain an efficient and financially smart solar energy system. No more coal burned for this house! read more

The entire Celestial Solar team did an incredible job. From the very beginning of the process Jim was professional and able to answer all of my (many) questions. I am rather particular on the aesthetics of the system and the layout and Jim was on-board (and added suggestions) to make the install as clean as possible. All of the wiring/connections, etc are hidden under the panels, not strung about all over the roof. Unlike some of the big-name companies, Celestial is not in the business of pushing a single type of panel. We were provided a number of estimates based on different solar panel efficiencies, manufacturers, etc with all of the associates pay-back information so that we could make an informed decision on what system would work best for our needs and in our budget. When the install crew arrived, the first thing they said after seeing we have small children at home was "when is nap time" to avoid disrupting our day as much as possible. They were all very professional and extremely competent. Any questions I have I can speak with Jim directly, not an automated minefield of robo-menus. After the installation, Celestial handled all of the utility company paperwork, state grant application, manufacturer warranty, etc. All we had to do was watch our monthly energy bills go away.
