Please read before you consider any service from them. I was a previous customer here for their laser hair removal package and lip filler. My first 4 sessions of laser hair removal went great. During my 5th session, I had a new technician, who openly communicated to me that she was recruited by the nurse and does not have any prior experience in doing laser hair removal. Session with her was extremely painful and I went home to find out she literally burnt my butthole. I had open cuts/lesions around my hole and it would hurt to shower, use the toilet, or wear tight clothing. I reached out and they recommended few ways to mitigate the situation. I took their recommendations, however, the area got worse and I reached back out - NO RESPONSE. I ended up seeing my primary care provider and a dermatologist for further care and treatment. Not only did they just stop responding, I did not get my full number of sessions, no follow up, no offer to compensate for the experience or injury. This place looks very appealing on the outside with their social media and good promo deals. I am here to say, what might look like a good deal may end up costing you way more at the end. Hiring untrained or not fully trained professions should not be OK in any professional establishment providing services as such. I had come in for a few years and when the two people I would see on a regular basis left I decided to give the couple of different treatments I get a try with the new people. One lady was so shaky I should have stopped her right then and left the room. Oh if I only had a brain... I did speak to head nurse/owner about the situations and wasn't given anything to compensate but excuses. I've been with my current luxury treatment business for a while now, but I decided one more Solara try, and it was a disaster. Would not consider going back even if it was free. No way. They were nice I got my lips done here and there is quite a few surface bumps and I'm going to call later to see if they will dissolve me and that will determine my rating better . It was really expensive and the job was not done very well at all I won't be coming back unless it's to dissolve the bumps because I wanted to get more and they're only going to get more prominent if I get more lip fillers in so now before I can get more and it look good I need to wait and get these taken care of smh ‍ read more

I had a appointment at Solara last week and was fairiliy happy with it. I got to my appointment about an hour early because I had nothing better to do before hand. The thin brown haired woman at the desk said "Im sorry, she is booked up until your appointment. You are gonna have to leave and come back." It wasnt so much that I couldnt get in early (I honestly didnt expect to) but the fact that she told me to leave!! I was like.... uh okay? That was a real put off. I went shopping around Sandler's and got a beautiful journal at Natural Pantry in the mean time. I returned to Solara at my appointment time (heaven forbid I be late, she might tell me to leave), filled out some paperwork, and was taken back about 10 minutes later.Their consultations are free and I enjoyed my talk with Eileen Thompson, RN discussing pricing, timing, requirements, and not pertinent to me, tattoo removal. She was very nice, straight forward, and very informative. If I do go back for my appointments, I will update this review. I would suggest Solara, but my reason for three stars is that I was told to leave. Rude! read more

I am 68 years young and one of my older friends told me about micro needling so I decided to research it and then try it. I had my first of four ( it takes that many to see a difference) appointments in late October. Trisha was the LPN that did my treatment. She was very efficient and professional. She would pause when I needed a break, which I did a few times. It's not cheap but my fingers are crossed that it may stave off the trend of time some. After my treatment it looked like I had been skiing in a strong wind -- like a wind burn. That went away before the end of the day. I am going back for my second treatment! read more

Mina does wonderful permanent makeup- if she's not in Europe!!! Not very reliable. I first had Mina tattoo my eyebrows in 2013. In Spring of 2014 I had them re-done- they need to be redone every year. I called a month in advance for my annual appointment in 2015. Mina had to delay my appointment because she was in Europe!! Wow- but I was broke anyway and so it worked out, for the best, to come in in May. This year I called Mina in late April, as the one-year date was in 30 days (May 20). I got a text back. No appointments available until late June- here are some dates. I'm going to Europe. Hmmmm. I'm going to a wedding in early June. Why didn't she tell me? I should be in her appointment book for the annual touchup!!! read more

Cool sculpting DON'T DO IT AT SOLARA. The two ladies applying the treatment on me they did not wait me they did not take measurements they did not take before and after pictures. In fact they were in a hurry I don't know for what because my time is already booked I was told that I would see some of the results after two months, a little more after three months, and so on,progressively. After six months The only results I've seen is that the area that got the cool sculpting is worse than it was before, how can that be? And I know what you're thinking, nope I did not gain weight. I would give you a zero, but that's not possible, so I give you a 1... I wish I would've listened to the bad reviews I read about Solara but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and ended up having the experience other folks on here tried to warn others about. I have a pretty high tolerance for bad service but the experience I had at Solara was really disappointing. Their staff is genuinely rude. I felt completely judged and talked down to by the nurse at my consultation. I still decided to go through with my first appointment and scheduled another one. They ended up rescheduling my second appointment and then cancelled it with out any notice. They said they called me and left a message but I thoroughly went through my entire voicemail box and there is no voicemail to be found. That was kind of the last straw for me. They are unreliable and overpriced compared to other medical spas in Anchorage. I'd reach out to other medical spas and medical aestheticians and save yourself the time, money and bad service. read more

I rate Solara one star based on customer service. As far as the procedure working, I rate them a zero. The only thing I lost from cool sculpting was a lot of money. It did not work for me. I thought I was a great candidate as I work out every day and eat healthy. However, after having a child, I started to carry extra weight in my stomach. I was also told it would not hurt, however, I almost did not make it through my second session the pain was so bad, and ultimately it did not work at all. I would recommend any one considering cool sculpting on their stomach to consult a medical doctor first to see if you are a suitable candidate. I have recently consulted with a doctor and found an appropriate procedure, that can produce the results I was hoping for originally. 'Not Equipped to Treat Colored Skin Tones' Went into Solara for a consultation for stretch mark removal. This was an appointment that was booked in advance and the services to be rendered were already known. Upon the date of my appointment, I waited in the lobby for about 10 minutes filling out paperwork and whatnot, then my specialist came to get me. After my VERY brief (literally 2 minutes) consultation expressing my concerns and seeking what options I had to get them corrected, she then stated 'unfortunately we would not be able to do anything for you. With the equipment we have your skin is too pigmented and I would end up doing more harm or potentially burning your skin. It's typically used for fair to moderate skin'. You can only imagine my dismay upon entering a 'SKIN and Laser Clinic', only to be told my skin tone does not qualify for treatment?!? My advice, change your name to Solara Fair Skin and laser clinic so as to not confuse consumers and have us waste our time. read more

I really think they turned the current down so low so I would have to keep coming back for treatments. My hair was reduced by maybe 30%. I had my third custom facial with Mina today! It is amazing what she has done for my sun damaged and aging skin in just 9 weeks! For years I kept passing by Solara wondering if I should try some treatments. I'm so glad I finally got the guts to do so and I just recently finished two different treatment packages over the last 10 months. I braved the hair removal in two areas of my midsection. Every appointment I stayed with Delany who is nothing but friendly and wonderful! I have had hair removal done before (about 10 years ago in CA) and it never worked.. This time around I do see a slight difference but I also notice some hair just keeps growing back. Soon I will have a follow up appointment and I hope to get a couple more treatments to see if it stays away.. The other package I did (and actually plan to keep it going) is the Isolaz with Mina! This treatment is great for acne prone skin and on shedding that stubborn dry layer! It took a couple tries to figure out what my skin liked (one time I turned orange from some kind of vitamin stuff; I about cried and was an ompaloompa for about four days-thank goodness it went away. The other time the vacuum was set too high which left my face full of hickies for over a week).. But don't let me scare you. Just be careful when doing the Isolaz-have Mina set it on the lowest settings and make sure she doesn't put that vitamin stuff on unless you can handle the orange tan look. Mina has also done a couple facials and spot treatments with me as well! She is super sweet, helpful, and determined to figure out what is going on and how we can manage skin problems! The only hard part about getting in for a spot treatment is finding an opening-I guess she's one busy and popular woman! I'm for sure keeping Mina for my facial treatments and hope to find another package deal on Solara's website for the Isolaz soon :) Oh yes, check their site for deals! I'm a "veteran" of botox and other various torture treatments to look my best.. I've sampled different places around town, too, as a result of various Groupons and specials. I always come back to Solara for several reasons. First, Dr. Vinnie and Dr. Butler are true artists. The product may be the same (or similar) somewhere else, but an "injection administrator" who knows what they're doing makes all the difference in the world.. and they won't waste product or give you negligible results. Another reason I love Solara is their hours, thanks for catering to professional women who strongly dislike taking time away from work hours for personal appearance appointments. Evening and Saturday appointments are appreciated! Lastly, their friendly, knowledgeable staff and great atmosphere. It's relaxed, informative, and interesting. The only thing I'd improve upon is their IPL facial treatment. I receive better results from AK Body Aesthetics. I don't know if it's the machine (ABA's looked newer) or the aesthetician (procedure was identical), but the results after a series differed. But for botox, fillers, and the like, Solara is tops! read more

The staff as a whole is very knowledge able. I have had 2 hair removal treatments and a facial with Lori Mcdonald. She does a fantastic job, gives me great information and i have been in love with my results so far. I have been to Solara several times for waxing and other services. I really enjoy the friendliness of all of the staff! Mina is the bomb.com with waxing and eyelash tinting. I made the mistake of getting my brows waxed somewhere else two weeks ago and I am paying for it with crooked brows, so sad. Next time I will ride it out and wait until Mina has an opening. Eileen is the sweetest lady and is funny as well! I enjoy talking with her and love her services! I was in for an appointment last week and had a free makeup consultation. I was very pleased with the application and the friendliness of the esthetician. I ended up buying the color science makeup line and my face is looking more and more fabulous with each day that goes by! I am very insecure about my face as I have suffered with acne my whole life. Worst customer service ever. The other reviews must be out dated. I RECENTLY attempted to have a small tattoo laser removed. On the phone before i wasted my time driving out there i was told they have a minimum charge of $100, (I ve had 2 treatments already costing $125 each) so naturally anyone would guess it would be quoted at about the same price. When i go for the consultation a very snotty overweight lady (i wish i had gotten a name but unfortunately that s the only way i can describe her) told me it would be $250. I explained to her that I ve had 2 treatments done somewhere else for $125 we re actually professionals she said rather unprofessionally, but she didn t care about getting any business and insisted I pay double what their competitor cost. I explained to her that even her competitor across town charges $150, well why aren t you there?! she yelled with a ghetto tone. because you told me $100 on the phone. I explained. I feel extremely badly for the poor owner who has to deal with these individuals. These jokers conduct business like clowns. I would never recommend solara to anyone. I started going to Solara several months ago and LOVE it! I get my brows waxed/ tinted and my eyelashes tinted regularly. I must admit that I am a bit picky when it comes to these services. I had become very frustrated with getting inconsistent results at other places around town, so I decided to try out Solara. I was THRILLED to find that they also use my favorite tint! Their prices are comparable to other places in town and they frequently offer specials. Mina has been my asthetician. She is AMAZING- very professional and thorough. She tells you exactly what she is doing and when and is very personable and considerate. She is always conscious of the mood in her room- lighting, music, etc. She will talk to you or let you relax in silence- whichever you prefer. She is extremely detail oriented and my tint always lasts a long time- which tells me that she is highly skilled! Anyone who gets these services done regularly understands how exciting it is to find someone good! Plus, the front desk staff is always very friendly and accomodating.
