Solas Tapas serves Spanish-inspired small and medium plates using local Irish produce. It's listed in the Michelin Guide, with positive comments from this review and other. Our dinner was a welcome alternative to classic Irish cuisine. We made reservations, arrived early, and were seated promptly. They have a time limit on the tables, and very generous by American standards. Our wait staff were friendly, helpful, and there when we needed them. We found the atmosphere to be warm, comfortable, relaxed, friendly, and rustic. It was also cool to peak into the Kitchen and watch one of the owners in made-to-order action. One thing about tapas/pintxos restaurants is that 2 things sneak up on you as you continue to order small plates: the overall bill and how full you become before you know it. For the 4 of us, our total came out to 161 Euros (including a 12.5% service charge), which I thought was a good value for the quality of food and drinks received. Our choices included 4 different glasses of wine from a very nice list, with prices ranging from 10-16 Euros. We also had 1 coffee and 3 Herbal teas at the end. In between, our food choices were: - Grilled Sour Dough, Confit Cherry Tomatoes & Dingle Sea Salt + Extra - Roasted Almonds - Crisp O Connors Spuds "Bravas Style" Manchego & Aioli - Chorizo Sausage - Chorizo & Manchego Croquette, Aioli, Dingle Sea Salt - Fig Tempura, Dingle Goats Cheese, Peppered Honey - Potato Hash We enjoyed all our choices, with the only one comment that the croquette was a bit rich for our pedestrian tastes. We'd gladly come back to explore the menu further, which probably changes from time to time. read more

All I can say is wow. The 5 dishes we ordered were a totally original blending of flavors that were both unexpected and familiar. All the flavors just blended to perfection. The ambience is modern with just the right touch of stone and atmosphere, the food came out quickly and the presentation is perfect. Calling this tapas is not doing it justice. This is a chef at the top of his powers that wants to give you a perfect nugget of flavors over and over again. I say mission accomplished. read more

Stumbled upon this place randomly . It was a bit after 8pm, so wasn't sure if food would still be served . They were happy to serve us. Lovely wine and pizza selection. We got the pizza (number 4, I believe) with goat cheese, roasted reds, red onions, and mozzarella. Incredible ! Cute place too. read more

This Please avoid this "restaurant" like the plague. They are misleading and we left extremely unhappy. For starters, the North London waitress who was assigned to our table was defensive, a smart alec and rude. I am Irish and perhaps she was used to that in England whereby they treat their customers like dirt, but this is Ireland, whereby customers come first. I went outside mid tapas for a cigarette and she followed me out of the restaurant and began questioning "why my experience hasnt been great". Interesting, as we hadnt said anything at that point, so she must have known. She then asked "maybe fish and chips were suited better to your group". I knew precisely what type of person she was as she was gunning for a row. She was hurling insults at me and then attempted another row and asked "awe, did you not read the menu before you came in?". She was defensive, angry and inappropriately followed me out of the restaurant. I felt ambushed and uneasy. The food was mediocre, bland and awful and my partner's parents got chips on the way home as they were starving. Tiny amounts for €154 and overpriced okayish wine. That girl was vile and needs to learn manners for Ireland. That just isnt tolerated here. I also notice that the manager's responses on every review site is defensive and lacks etiquette and skill in how to deal with customers. One response she wrote was "our food is fresh daily and isnt plucked from the freezer". What she fails to realise is that that's a given, and an expectation by customers. Please go elsewhere. Hands down some of the best food I've ever eaten. Everything was cooked perfectly and we could not stop eating. The lamb chops topped with sheep cheese was one of the best creations ever. Service and vibe were spot on too read more

Wonderful warm welcome by a member of staff yesterday, was dining with friends and it was my first visit . The restaurant is cosy , intimate and energizing. What a nice little find in this quaint little town. Decent tapas in the Irish countryside? We'll take it. We stopped in here for dinner without reservations. Grabbed one of the two tables out front on the street. The space inside is small and cozy but we like watching the world go by. It's on a little back street so the views are quaint and it's fairly quiet. The food here is tasty, especially compared to the standard Irish pub fare that you're probably eating as you travel across this beautiful country. A nice break from brown stew and burgers. We enjoyed an array of tasty tapas served up with some quality wine. The service was friendly and prompt, and they helped my vegetarian wife navigate the menu to find plenty of great offerings. As with most tapas places, be prepared to spend more than you would on your usual one-entree-per-person. But it's totally worth it here for the flavor and quality of food. Yum! read more

One of our favorite meals in Ireland actually, from a tapas place in Dingle! The restaurant was small and charming, service was friendly, and the food was delicious. The tomato confit on charred sourdough was a great choice to provide a break from the richness of everything else that we choose. The confit was served cool, but the bread was warm and perfectly toasted, and the combination was lovely. The maharaees spuds with mushrooms were perfectly cooked; a touch crispy on the outside but soft inside, and the spices were noticeable but not overwhelming (paprika and garlic seemed to be in the mix, but not too strongly). We also got a very nice crispy duck make-your-own bao with slaw and sauce that was great. The duck managed to be a touch crispy but without being dry, and the ratio of bun, duck, slaw, and sauce was perfect. The only thing that wasn't really what we were looking for was dessert, but that was us mis-reading the menu; Farranfor Strawberry and Prosecco Sorbet was Strawberry-Prosecco sorbet, not strawberries with some prosecco sorbet. The strawberry-prosecco sorbet was delicious though! read more

We were lucky to have dinner at Solas Tapas. The food was incredibly delicious and well balanced. The chef was very friendly and humbly talented. What takes Solas beyond 5 stars is the service. Our waitress was very informative of wine and the menu. Most importantly, she was really kind to us and to our daughters. We had a wonderful time from start to finish.
