We were taught an array of moves on the pole and then moved onto a full chair dance routine. The women in our party ranged in age from their early 20's to late 50's -- and everyone had a blast! I can't say enough good things about our experience. As for the regular classes, I took a class here about a year ago and really enjoyed myself. Unfortunately, I don't live in the area or else Sweat Like A Girl would be my full-time workout studio.

I quickly became tired of the elliptical, tired of the treadmill, and the only thing I knew for sure was that if my workouts continued to feel like chores, I'd never stick with them. I tried the Fight Club class after checking out classes at a few other gyms, and I was instantly hooked. It was first time I realized I could have a good time working out. It took me a while to try out some of the other classes, but now, SuperGirl is my favorite. It's always something different, but consistently keeps me working hard. But the really surprising thing was, it didn't take me long to feel comfortable there. Heather, the owner of the gym who also happens to be the main instructor for many classes, is equally a motivator, an entertainer, and a hardcore fitness instructor. I start out each class feeling scared for the intensity i know is about to be inflicted upon my body, and psyched, in the same was anybody is before they are about to do something they know is going to be completely fun and rewarding. Any class with Heather usually includes a stand-up routine at no extra charge. And not surprisingly, smiling and laughing a lot while you're sweating like crazy, definitely takes the pressure off. Actually, all the instructors are pretty cool, care about your success, and will give you a great workout. I've met a lot of people at this gym, and the pervasive attitude is one of support, non-judgement, and willingness to help each other out. The whole environment is pretty cool, and rare. There's something for everybody, whether your idea of fitness involves flipping tires, interval training, running, dancing, pole, or kicking and punching. And the price is definitely right.

Mark and Heather helped me better understand what I needed to do in order to take control of my health and fitness. Starting with Personal Training sessions was the right choice for me. I got to test my ability and asses my limitations with guidance and support. When I started to take Group Fitness classes I felt totally confident in my ability to at least 'get through' a workout. And yes, that's how low my bar was set. I was able to drop 10% of my body weight, make some lasting sustainable changes to my diet and I can honestly say although I still don't consider myself an athlete, Jiva Fitness has helped me to enjoy being active. With all the different types of group fitness classes, my workout can vary to fit whatever I need in any given week. And they all complement each other very well. I always found plenty of excuses not to take better care of myself. But, I realized that nobody else was going to do it for me. Just showing up to class is a win. It's one step closer than I was before. Inch by inch, pound by pound, I get stronger. I get more energy. I get more enjoyment out of being alive. I don't think I would have gotten this far without Mark & Heather's constant support and encouragement. As well as all the other folks in class! Do it. Go. Now.

Chad became a little difficult to schedule with (no big deal as I understood life can get in the way sometimes on his behalf and mine.) I was promised protein powders for signing up (Never received them) Then the kicker his "landlord decided to increase the cost of rent" so he was "looking at new locations" but in the mean time he could "take me to planet fitness on his pass" (okay were making lemonade out of lemons right guys?) WRONG! after taking me for one session chad pretty much fell off the face of the earth. No responses to text messages.. nothing. As time went on I decided I would dig a little. I found other girls who he took money from and still owed sessions to. The lender on the first phone call told me I could stop payments. Then continued to call and told me "they were not responsible for services." but that I could ask Chad for a refund and hopefully the issue would be solved.. Welp Chad chose to ignore that message too. Basically it comes down to facts, being a decent human, & owning and running a business in a proper manner. As someone who is profiting off of a market for weight loss and holding people accountable for their choices, He should be holding himself accountable for the wrongdoing's he's done. He could have offered to make things right, he chose not to. Yet now he advertises for his online "program" Buyer beware. Please don't fall victim as myself and others have.

There's never anything to sanitize things down before or after use of machines. Upholstery is broken on about 50% of the equipment. Water fountain has rust on it, and mold. The bathrooms are never stocked or clean. The showers are a biohazard in and of itself. There is always cancellations of the classes they provide. They do not offer any services advertised like karate classes, and pilates. they do not have a chiropractor on site, they fired her. The spa is not run by licensed cosmetologists, the cafe is always dirty and unkept. There is rust in the indoor pool, the therapy pool seat is corroding, which is terrible as it is used for transport of disabled individuals in and out of the pool. There is never anyone on management wise that can offer answers to my questions. Seems they just fired them all, as the three that were there when i signed up are now no longer employed. I want to warn anyone to this gym, as it's dirty, overpriced, and they serve alcohol? It's the owners nightclub on steroids, more than a serious venue to work out. I took my business to Planet Fitness, at least there they upkeep with the best work out machines available, and their classes are never cancelled.

The last year has been rough. There's not many classes. And if you work later than 5 pm, you're not making a class. I once showed up to a Friday morning spin class only for the instructor to say she couldn't work the speakers and then canceled it! A lot of spin instructors have come and gone. Doug and Rachel were the best but Doug has now since left. So to pay $50 a month only for a couple classes a week is a lot. I have not renewed my membership and have since joined a new gym that is cheaper and gives me so many more options.
