Everything they told us wasn't true from the tax credit to how much money we would save with them. We turned them off for 2 weeks and our energy bill was 40 dollars cheaper. Plus, when they came and installed them the guys were trash left our roof leaking and knocked things off our wall and left them. We can't seem to get ahold of anyone either! Wouldn't recommend this company to anyone..... We are 5 months in, it's still not up and running... Our 6 months free is gone, so now we're paying for something that isn't working. The lady my fiance talked to yesterday told him the panels they need to upgrade should take 2 hours to do.. The electrician showed up this morning, to my surprise it's going to take well over 6+hours, with the power shut off. The icing on the cake was when he explained they have to come back another time, turn off the power and do some more upgrades.. NO ONE EXPLAINED THIS FROM THE BEGINNING! Not to mention, we were told ONE electrician would be doing the job and I had 3 guys at my door. With how society is right now, having 3 males in my home while my fiance is gone is not okay. I would like to add, we've now been stuck with Solgen for almost 2 years and it's been nothing but surprises along the way. First 2 of our panels were broken and they never called to let us know. So we went 3 months with RIDICULOUSLY high utilities until we finally called. They argued with us for over a month over the issue until they finally sent someone to inspect and low behold we had a few broken panels. NOW we are paying DOUBLE our payment amount because NO ONE told us that our payments through Verity were "18 months interest free"... We have looked through all our contracts AND NOTHING talks about 18 months interest free payments. My fiance and I are currently looking for another loan company to take over the solar panels because we were ultimately screwed over by Solgen and Verity. Instead of paying roughly $300 in total for all utilities, we are now paying $600+! Don't get me started in their customer service department.... read more

I was originally going to look into solar just because we had remodeled our garage to be an ADU and our bill was going to go up. One day a couple of Solgen individuals came to my house and asked if we wanted to talk with a salesperson. You know, what the heck, why not? Couldn't hurt? I scheduled a meeting with them for the following day, but unfortunately, my partner had to leave for work and they weren't going to talk to me without her there. They said that both owners of the house had to be present. Alright, whatever, cool with me. After we rescheduled that meeting I looked up the logistics of their service and it literally didn't make sense to me. How could they offer you a $10-15K (or more) tax write-off (like they were telling me) with zero money down? Nothing in life is truly free...we all know that. After a bit of research (on Yelp and just going down some Google solar rabbit holes), I realized that THEY get the tax incentive because you don't fully own it. Unless you want to put down the full cost of the solar panels (which most of us WON'T have the money for), you don't get the tax credit. There are too many holes in this story/arrangement that I didn't feel like I wanted to continue. This wasn't something we NEEDED for our house, but just something to check out. So far, we've had a negative experience with SolGen, and are feeling scammed: they installed our panels at the end of July, and said the inspection might take "up to a month" in time for at least the tail of the sunny season. It is now three months later, and we receive nothing but vague statements that we are on a list, and continue to receive no follow up unless we call. Even the sales rep, who was very friendly, seems to not be able to get answers from us. So buyer beware: SolGen hires good salespeople, and their engineers seem okay, but their service department and their ability to actually get your solar panels turned on is awful: We've already lost a fair amount of money waiting on inspection, and it's been a stressful and negative experience. read more

Took over 4 months to turn on, and a year later wanted to complete the project (insulation that was promised) Could only talk to the finance company about all my questions. These guys are crooks! They totally misrepresented the tax rebates and the amount of power my panels would generate. They promised the federal and state tax rebates would cover a substantial portion of the huge loan I took out for the panels. Turns out they are not an approved contractor with the state of Oregon so no Oregon customers will receive tax rebates. The panels don't come close to covering my energy usage so I'm stuck with making large payments on a huge loan. The customer service is absolutely reprehensible. Glad I haven't gone with them. After responding to their 'no cost' solar ad, I was contacted in literally 15 seconds. The guy I spoke with on the phone was very evasive about cost - it was NOT 'no cost'. He kept talking about paying them 'instead of' the electric company, but then acknowledged I would still need to pay them as I would still have electric service. Within the next day I got contacted twice more by people who didn't know the first guy had even talked with me. I got text messages from three different numbers - one was from an unknown number that didn't even say hello, just started talking about solar without identifying themselves. I'm listening to my gut and the bad reviews. Sounds like a VERY shady company out to make a fast buck using sales people who either don't know what they're talking about or are trained to evade questions and obfuscate as much as possible. read more

My experience with Solgen Power has been awful. I've been lied to, passed off to different reps and had to go back over the whole nightmare story again and again because they have employee turnover and because there are no records being kept. Solgen seems to be keeping it very quite that they are merging with Purelight Power. I think their reps are doing whatever they can to string people along until they are fully absorbed into Purelight. It's important, if you're looking into working with Purelight, that you look into Solgen too. definitely look them up with the Better Business Bureau. L and I and the Attorney General. I've been able to locate other Solgen/Purelight customers via Facebook and also with free people searchers online. Going Solar is a big decision. Be careful. read more

We thought we were being wise to get solar pa els installed, did some research and found that solgen was the largest and most installs. Informed them that we live in a snow area and can get a couple feet through the winter. Asked if panels would interfere with collecting snow or melting snow. We were informed it would not be an issue. Design team sent out a team to take pictures of roof and measurements. Again, asked if snow accumulation would be an issue, was informed that it shouldn't, should slide off panels. Well, winter hits, we get snow as we normally do and guess the design teM thought placing panels 5 feet apart would be cool. Snow builds up, slides down panels and stops between panel rows. Snow keeps falling and accumulating in one spot. Builds a dam of snow 5 foot deep between the panel rows. We call solgen and get transferred from one person to another, get the comment that they will look into it. Finally, decided to email in order to have it in writing. We went through 5 people all apoligizing for the issue, but they would have to talk to a supervisor. Finally, get a response after weeks of getting jacked around, " you will need to get up on the roof and shovel it". This is the fix from them. After months of dealing with different people and asking if there is a manager or even an owner to talk to i get told the owners don't like to deal with homeowners. So, even though i suggested a simple fix of a transition strip to allow the snow to slide off the roof, i am told the design team doesn't know how to do that. So, now i paid 65k for panels and i have to design something to prevent my roof from caving in with snow. Beware that even if you ask them questions and voicing your concerns a solgen representative will sell you a lemon in a Ferrari package. Not a great company. Not intuned with their clients needs. Even though i would suggest solar panels i would not suggest Solgen. Do some research and get everything in writing. Lets hope they won't be getting sued for a new roof.. We were in contact with an engineer from Solgen regarding installing solar panels on our house. The initial conversation was very positive and we scheduled an in person assessment the following week. On the day of the appointment he contacted us to say that the meeting would be virtual. This seemed to be a less than desirable situation so we cancelled. His response to us cancelling our appt was: "well, we just found out that your house isn't big enough enough for us to waste our time on it and we're wouldn't be going forward with installation anyway" We were stunned by this response but went about our day. Fast forward to today. My husband accidentally butt dialed the engineer and hung up. Here's the exchange: ? Butt dial. Sorry Weird timing... I have an opportunity to pick up a really large and modern day camper for likely nothing... interested? I'm away from home. If they want to wait till after the 9 th I'll check it out and do something with it. Nevermind I just realized you had canceled your appointment and informed me you weren't interested in Solar, which in turn makes me uninterested in helping your finances (which is always the feeling I have for people who clearly don't value our environment). Please delete my number from your contacts. Could he have been a scam artist to begin with? We still want to utilize solar energy but we're waiting until the new year in order to receive all of the benefits from the government. It's hard to articulate how angry I am with these folks right now. I'll update my review later with details once I've had a chance to cool down. For now, just spare yourself the headache and stay away--there are sooooo many other options for solar out there. Empty promises, misinformation, uninformed workmen, complete communication failures (both between departments, and to the customer), underperforming hardware, and they try to make up for the immense waste of time and money with a $25 gift card, after waving benefits in your face that they later tell you you're ineligible for. I gave them the benefit of the doubt for a number of months because they're a growing company dealing with the challenges of high demand, and I like to root for the little guy, but the most recent communication shows me that they have no real interest in customer satisfaction and quality product/service. It's just been so, so bad, and every opportunity they've had to turn things around has resulted in more disappointment. 3 months ago I would have given them 0 stars and said burn them to the ground, however they have recently been bought by another company and pretty much fired everybody that was there. All of my problems and complaints over the last year to get my system finished and running were solved in 2 weeks and 1 phone call. We love the new metal roof & solar panels that we purchased from Solgen last OCTOBER. They were finally installed this MARCH. Now we have to continue to wait more months before they will install a new circuit board which will allow the panels to be turned on! Today we were told it would be in MAY. This is getting ridiculous! We're paying over $60,000 for the whole set-up! I believe our only option to resolve this is to call Solgen, multiple times per week every week, and pester them relentlessly into hiring a person who can install the circuit board. Also I am using the YELP platform to discourage people from doing business with Solgen. They do not accomplish their work in a timely manner! read more

SolGen is not a professional organization. You have to remember that the basis of the solar industry for residential use, has come from the same tactics of selling security door-to-door, as well as bug juice services door-to-door. That mentality means; sell hard, slam it in, and walk away. Do not sign the contract until you've read it carefully. Understand that your local utility company will not put into writing your metering rates in the contract. They'll "verbally" say you're grandfathered in, in case anything changes, they will not be put into writing. That is a 101 expectation for a business contract. SolGen had a funded loan for 5 months and still no action to help us. Must be nice to over inflate revenues and DSO like that. We had signed up in July, and come December, still no installation date-- Meaning we are going to miss a whole year tax credit to either re-amortize our loan, or have as a full credit. This was 100% a failure on SolGen's part to work with the local municipalities to provide them simple spec sheets on the panels that were going to be installed on our home. They couldn't get that done August, September, October, November... not till late December. We chose to cancel, and take the hefty cancellation fee as a consolation over having somebody mess up with the panels to put on our home, or mess up in the future with the service. Even after canceling, five weeks later, they still had not canceled with the loan company and we were drafted a monthly payment. Run, don't walk away. There are better options of people trying to do it right. Contact your local Permitting people and see what they think. Call your local utilities and see what they think. Coordinating with jurisdictional inspections a little slow, but that didn't create and issues, just a delayed connection. Overall great experience. Savings will not be significant. I expect to break even, but believe our house vale has benefited, we are getting close to a 10k tax credit and contributing to a healthier environment. All great things! read more

I am so fed up! Nothing is more annoying than having door to door salespeople in 2022, nothing that is except the salespeople being from the same company every time!! We have a no soliciting sign on our door for a real reasons and they ignore it every damn time! I filled out a form on their website to get more information, and instantly BAM, was bombarded with emails and especially calls--six a day, each two from a different number, but all robo-calls. I texted a few numbers back and asked some questions, but the numbers are unmonitored. The phone # on their main website is "not in service." Their chat option doesn't work. Their emails are from chat bots. This whole company screams SCAM. I keep blocking their numbers, but they seem to have an inexhaustible supply, and there's no way to reach a person to tell them to stop harassing you and no unsubscribe link to their emails. read more

This is copied from my Google review but I'm posting it here so hopefully other people don't make the same mistakes as I did going with Solgen. UPDATE: So even worse things have happened now as it turns out our initial sales guy lied to us about a Washington State rebate. We were told that we would be getting a REBATE (not credit) from the state of Washington that we would be able to put directly on to our loan which would knock more than 1/5th of it off. Turns out, Washington has no rebate for going solar and this was a complete lie. There is a federal tax CREDIT that you get, but there is no State rebate. We were really counting on that money to help us get out of debt, and now it isn't coming. With all of our experience, I never would have gone solar and I will never recommend this company to anyone. ORIGINAL: The experience leading up to getting our solar panels went really well, but it has now been 7 weeks since I got them installed on my house and I still haven't gotten the go ahead to turn them on. They also installed the control box on my house too close to my gate, so now I can't actually open the gate because it bumps into the handle on the box. A really nice guy from Solgen came by to add something to our AC unit to make it run more efficiently only to find out he didn't have the right tools to do so. I took time off of work to make sure I could be there for him but it was ultimately pointless. He took a video of the gate hitting the control box and sent it to his manager and told me they would come out and fix it, but I still haven't heard back about this OR from them about rescheduling a time to add the stuff to my AC unit. I called the phone number on their website today and had to leave a voicemail for them since nobody was picking up. Their customer service has yet to call me back. This all seemed great and I have friends and family who are interested in solar, but I can't recommend Solgen to them since I can't even use what they put on my house, and its been over 7 weeks since install! read more

We're in the finishing stages now and I have nothing but good things to say about Solgen. They've been overly communicative with us about each step of the way and with their zero down program, we were able to get a whole new electrical panel and 11 solar panels while putting down no dollars. Our initial installation went very smoothly and love our installed solar panels that cover 80+% of our current usage. Since we are looking at purchasing an electric car in the next year or so, we opted to add additional panels in March 2022. We signed the contract to get the additional panels installed on March 17, 2022 and have yet to be scheduled for installation of the additional panels. The deferred financing runs out in September, and we have yet to see the new panels. We have called and left voice messages as well as sent emails with no effective response to date. Nightmare!! they completely took advantage of my 82-year-old father who has dementia. He never even signed a single piece of paper and yet they managed to get a loan and open account for $34,000. They told my sister who had no authority whatsoever to do anything in his name, that he would not have to make a payment for 18 months. The panels were installed this February and they've been charging him $115 a month since May and the panels don't work they have not generated one single watt of power, I'm furious angry sad and not sure which direction to go. I've already filed two complaints with the BBB in hopes that we can get some sort of conclusion they told my sister that he would be getting tax breaks but since he only makes $1100 a month on Social Security and doesn't file taxes. I'm not sure who's getting the break? Because it's certainly not my dad. They haven't provided an account number. He never signed any paperwork. I'm not even sure how they got his checking account information. All I know is they tried to set something up with my sister involved who lives there but has no authority and now my dad is stuck with a $35,000 loan and $115 payment coming out of his checking account with no working solar panels. read more

This company called me while at work. I tried to answer but we have horrible service in the hospital especially in the ICU where I work. They called me multiple times in a row and I tried to answer. I then received this text message From the representative "Hey Lapreal, that was some good acting, listen. We got info saying you requested a quote for solar, if this is not what you wanted let us know so we're not waist of each other's time." To which I replied, "Don't "listen" me ok, I'm at work in an ICU, We don't have good service in here. I am shocked an actual company would text somebody as you have. I will not be getting any services from your company because of your rude and unprofessional attitude". Also, read the Facebook reviews before signing up with this company. We entered a solar agreement with Solgen in July 2021. We also purchased a new roof - an approximate $65,000 Investment. They told us to expect 45 days from to completion. They said we would have approximately 4 months without having to pay for electric or solar. They lied. CONSTANTLY! They completed the roof at the end of September 2021. They installed the panels by 2nd week of October 2021, and then failed to complete the task of wiring to our meter and firing up our system until the 2nd week of February 2022. SEVEN months after signing their contract, up and running in 45 days my eye. Pfffffffft With each delay inquiry we made, we were continually being lied to. Excuse after excuse ALWAYS someone else's fault. We were lied to time and again by every level of staff we spoke to. these were demonstrable lies, easily proven to be outright lies, and the people and businesses they blamed had "receipts" showing their many efforts to get Solgen to complete our project. Their pleas also went literally unanswered. )Emails are great for documenting those things). This company promises rainbows and roses during the sales process and once you sign the papers - their customer service dies. It is absolutely infuriating to have splat panels on your roof, and having to continue to pay an electric bill. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone I cared about. Very frustrating experience with Solgen. Process started in October and was told it would be done in 8 weeks. Nope. Was told by salesman that their team would install a battery pack if I bought it myself. Nope. They lost my packet and it delayed my process by 5 weeks. After paying for it with a loan they all of the sudden started calling me saying I need to pay or they will cancel. Call them and they say "oops" you went into the wrong pile. Wouldn't admit their mistake called a 5 week delay. Ugh. Moving on to install which didn't happen until January. Electrician guy seems nice and the install happens no problem. Then silence for 3 weeks. Finally call and they say they need to set up an inspection with city. They honestly had not even requested it. Early February final inspection. I asked if I needed to be there and if this was the last visit. Was told over phone that there would be a final visit from Solgen to make sure it was all up and running. So, I went to work. I am sure you can guess what happened next...nope that was the final visit and all I got was a crazy packet that somehow I'm supposed to know how to finish install of the sensor. I tried but it turns out they didn't install it correctly. So here we are and maybe by March it will be done. I'm afraid I have to agree with the other 1 star reviews of Solgen Power. DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THIS COMPANY. Our system has been down for 6 weeks now, after running just fine for 9 months. It took me 2 weeks to get them to even understand that I had had a working system. (They kept asking me if I wanted them to explain how to turn the system on.) The past four weeks have just been empty promises to get someone scheduled to come out. I just received a call from Jonah, who is apparently now the person responsible for getting my system fixed. He informed me that he "hopes to have someone hired in the next couple of weeks" who can come out and fix my system. You would think that a Solar power company would understand that the SUMMER is PRIME SOLAR GENERATING TIME. Solgen apparently doesn't get that. Their customer service people are nice, but completely ineffective. They were supposedly getting a new CRM, but the first thing Jonah asked me was whether I needed help turning my system on. I have repeatedly told them that they will need a 40ft ladder to access my system, but Jonah had never heard that. There is no urgency, and certainly no communication within this company in regards to getting problems fixed. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. read more

AWFUL!!!! Experience with this company, I wish I would never have had them do my install. My situation: When the project was complete, my sense unit was installed on my sub-panel to a detached garage, and not able to track any of the power consumption from my home or main panel, which was the ENTIRE reason I went with this company. Instead, Solgen left me with an array that would convert I can track, which is cool, but the Sense unit itself was installed in the wrong place, so it can only track the 4 or 5 outlets in my garage. Oh, and not to mention a BIG HOLE IN MY WALL where the electrician cut more than 2.5" x 14" hole beneath my sub-panel that the sub-panels front cover can not cover, so that is a nice eyesore. I made it very clear from the start that I wanted to track my entire property's energy, but it fell on deaf ears. Communication: AGAIN TERRIBLE!!! After the install was complete, I noticed the above once I got the okay to turn the solar array. I explain to 5 or 6 separate employees over lengthy emails and phone calls, but they would say they would call back with answers (which they didn't). So I would be forced to email/ calling again to start the process over. After 3 WEEKS of trying to rectify my situation with several employees that could not do anything other than have someone call me or email me asking what the problem was. And playing phone tag with an employee who was playing messenger for their boss and me, kind of like we were passing notes in class, I finally contacted the appropriate manager to handle my account. Of course, most of the info this manager had was inaccurate, so I broke down what was happening again for a final time. After this conversation, they called me two days later with the following as their final solution; They REFUSED TO OWNING UP FOR THEIR MISTAKE and doing what I paid for; they instead took this opportunity to sell me another Sense unit to track the primary breaker panel consumption for 650$ + cost for the install. For you that don't know, that is 386$ more than the retail price for the Sense unit needed. or a previous option offered was, 850$ (Sense unit) + 1000$ and labor cost to do what we agreed to initially. ?????for a mistake they made as a company, why is it okay to think you can take it out on their customers HEAD THIS WARNING, you may have an okay experience with Solgen, OR you may end up paying TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS of your hard-earned cash only to be ignored on what you want--followed by Solgen trying to scalp you for more money instead of just fixing the issue. Very strange company. After a phone call and a few texts we set up a meeting to go over our plans. They did not show up. They then hung up on me when I tried calling and ignored my text messages. I'm still a bit flabbergasted that a company can be so successful and yet have zero professionalism or common courtesy. Just weird. read more

We were considering going solar. So when their representative rang our doorbell, I was open to hearing what they had to say. We set up a meeting at which they want both home owners to attend. The sales rep was nice & presented a very informative laptop presentation. When it came to financing we stated that we would pay cash. At that point, they offered a 5% discount if we paid for the project in full up front. So 2 strikes against this company: door to door sales & asking for full payment up front. According to the WA state License look up site, they also have had several violations regarding not using journeyman electricians & for unsafe practices for their employees on roofs over the past 3 years. We chose to stop negotiations with this company. read more

UGH ! Terrible communication with each other and their customers. Went through a few project managers, one who turned in the permits to City with missing and wrong info. Our salesperson has also been not helpful since the sale. Panels are installed but still not up and running properly, have left BIG holes they made around circuit panel and they have ghosted me about returning to repair. Not one person in this company has followed through on their promises. Their Sense device is installed improperly and the electricians they sent were unfamiliar with the product and DIDN'T MAKE SURE IT WORKED BEFORE THEY LEFT. I would definitely pass on this company. Also make sure you read their TERRIBLE, recent complaints at the BBB. I will be filing one myself soon. read more
