Originally, I visited CAMP Los Angeles for the bi-weekly Coffee and Chill event that assembles a ton of ice baths, some saunas, and many booths for healthy products and beverages. However, the partnership offered a free class to any first timers, which I readily accepted. I signed up for a morning circuit class to complete before chilling at the event (but ice baths...I still despise them). The circuit class was a little more challenging than I thought, but I feel like I could have doubled it up with a yoga class or even another circuit class if I'm extra caffeinated or something [[HIGHLIGHT]]Élan is a wonderful instructor that provides clear guidelines on how to excel and what modifications to use if necessary.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend his classes but really all of the CAMP classes look great!

I'm on ClassPass and have visited more than 20 fitness studios in Los Angeles in just the last two months. Camp LA is definitely one of the most exceptional studios I've been to. CAMP LA offers a unique concept of circuit training (similar to Barry's), sculpting, stations, and yoga. I've tried their sculpting class (in a heated room!) and their circuit training. Both were great, and I felt motivated by the instructors. Camp LA is more than just a regular gym or fitness studio. There is a sense of community here, and if you want to surround yourself with like-minded people, this is the place for you. The studio itself is very neat, clean, and well-designed. You can tell they put much effort into designing and organizing the studio. There are clean bathrooms and showers, cubbies, chairs, and a water station. They have a private parking lot, and you can park there for free. Easy access from Lincoln.

Summary: If you're looking for a high-energy flow, this isn't that. But if you want a thoughtful,…read morebreath-centered practice that helps you slow down, feel your body, and cultivate steadiness, this class is your go-to. The Space: This studio is a second-floor loft with tall windows and skylights overhead, so natural light pours in. The room is spacious, uncluttered, and simply arranged, which amplifies the quiet, reflective tone of the class. The Class: We began with a collective Om and alternate-nostril breathing, then moved into a steady sequence of Sanskrit-cued postures rather than a flowing practice. (I did have to peek at others for a few poses!) Because there was no music, every breath, footstep, and verbal cue became part of the atmosphere. At first, I felt more self-aware, but that actually drew me deeper into my breath. I ended up finding it rather powerful and reflective. The Teacher: Jerome was warm and attentive, especially with first-timers. He introduced himself, encouraged me to place my mat wherever I felt comfortable, and offered hands-on adjustments that invited the body to relax deeper rather than push harder. Vibe: His use of Sanskrit cueing, paired with steady breathwork (beginning with a collective Om and alternate-nostril breathing), created a classical, contemplative tone. This was not a flow; it was a deliberate exploration of posture and breath. Community: The overall atmosphere felt community-oriented. People were chatting with one another as they gathered up their belongings after class, which made the space feel friendly and welcoming. Practical Notes: I also loved that this is a drop-in studio. There's no advance sign-up needed, just show up with your mat. Parking is free right outside. It's a DONATION-BASED class. Welcome to all! Quick Note: The class isn't heated, but with so much sunlight streaming in, a gentle natural warmth builds throughout the practice.

I then started to take Pilates and have been doing it for many, many years and I still do. Having a full knee replacement last August, my life has changed dramatically. My ability to do yoga has changed significantly and I was so excited to return to this studio. They have updated their air filtration, (using air scrubbers) and as a Health and Safety Supervisor I was thrilled. The entire studio has the best vibe ever. Everyone who works there are so welcoming and kind. Shout out to Bruce! I took a chair yoga class that was amazing and I left feeling uplifted and so happy I could stretch my body ( especially my knee) in ways I haven't been able to do for years...I bought a 3 class pass which is so reasonably priced so I can try a couple of different classes. Feldenkrais interests me and they have it here. They film the classes ( only seeing the teacher) and you can watch it for free for several days after every class you take... Google it and see all the class options that caters to everyone of all ages! This studio is a gem located on Ocean Park Blvd ( my old Sunset Park neighborhood) and next to Thyme Cafe. I urge all of my westside readers to come and take a class and see what an amazing and inspiring experience you will have. I am so happy to be back! 5 stars and I end with namaste ("the peace within my soul recognizes the peace within yours.")

The Yoga Space: Minimalist, with warm wood tones, all sun-lit by a giant oval skylight overhead. The Class (Flow with Bailey Kai): This was a music-driven, cue-based flow that works for all levels. Bailey's teaching style is beginner-friendly for anyone who is looking to explore yoga in a beautiful setting with great music. She guides the movement first, then names the pose in English. It allows the body to learn easily, which is a great for new students. The class unfolded as one long, continuous flow that gradually built. Near the end, we were offered an optional peak pose of Birds of Paradise. As we down-regulated with grounded stretching, the playlist slipped into a moody, hypnotic feel of "Want It" by Mk.gee (gentle, inward, & beautifully timed: https://youtu.be/ZXVCmYWCOwI?si=U1tWC20pIELUMylK), followed by grounded stretching and savasana. I brought a friend (one of my favorite yoga teachers;-), and she appreciated some of Bailey's creative cueing. Always a good sign when a teacher enjoyed class. This Class Is Perfect For: - Beginners who want clear, movement-based guidance - Intermediate students who love a smooth, continuous flow that gradually builds, with add-ons and a peak pose - Anyone wanting music-driven movement without added heat in a beautiful space Final Take: OPEN with Bailey Kai delivers an accessible, long flow in a beautiful sun-lit space. Perfect when you want to generate your own heat and move in a steady, continuous rhythm. Practical Notes: Street parking nearby and a $5 lot across the street for OPEN clients. Mats and towels provided. Water station, bathroom, sauna, and cold plunge available.
