This was the first place I have ever been to that does not have a water fountain for its members. It is absurd and reeks of greed. It is no wonder that this poor community does not have nice things. People here accept low quality. Clearly, they do not realize that they, as loyal customers, are the lifeblood of businesses. Without them, businesses would not exist. *** Just so we are clear, the employees and management were pleasant. I am not criticizing the people. I am criticizing how ridiculous it is for a gym not to offer its members free water. I am also criticizing how expensive these out-dated places are. (All of the private gyms I have been to in Imperial County are outdated and overpriced.) Rent here in Imperial County is extremely cheap compared to the rest of California. Yet these outdated little gyms charge $10-$20 more than large, clean, modern gyms in expensive areas. (Those gyms all have locker rooms with showers, and many have additional amenities such as pools, dry saunas, steam, etc.) Unfortunately in many cases people in this community pay more and get much less. The winds of change are blowing. One day, people in this community will have nice things like everyone else in California. How fast that day comes depends on us.

Of course, this is around peak hours... Say 4-7pm. One squat rack. One smith machine. One leg press. These areas are typically occupied. But don't get me wrong, you can get a work out here, you just have to be patient, wait your turn, or ask politely to work in. No changing/locker rooms. Just two bathrooms. Biggest plus: everyone is fucking nice. Way to go Brawley! Who knew this was a breeding ground for polite and kind people. Biggest minus: texting is not considered part of a work out. Lots of fingers furiously flying across little keypads. You'd think there were some texting Olympiad coming up.

It may cost more than a regular gym, but definitely worth every single . Its more like daily individual one-on-one training, with modifications that fit my size and abilities. I suffer from fatness and I can't YET do certain things, but I've been slowly making progress. I can now do things I couldn't do in over 30 years. The best part is feeling like I belong, regardless of size, age, color, disability or any other insecurities I might have HAD. Everyone, from owner to trainers and fellow Crossfitters, they motivate me, cheer me on, push me and always support me. That's what we all need. My daughter and I go several times a week, and it's never the same! always fun, challenging and do happy with our progress.

It has been almost a year since I began with Fit in 42 focusing on the semi-private sessions. Coach Kurt has been awesome! He's consistently supportive, accommodates any challenges I face, and encouraging when I make progress. The improvements that I've experienced throughout the course of a year has been substantial. I've also enjoyed participating in a few of the combat sessions. While coordination, especially in the boxing segments, isn't my strong suit, I genuinely appreciate Coach Gail's patience and the time she takes to offer guidance and corrections.
