The Tiramisu I purchased here one Saturday was wonderful and made from scratch which made it even better, but the service here was anything but. The person whom I saw at the register was a bit snippy with me and when I asked for the menu, she practically showed it in my hand. After I explained to her what I wanted she brought the dessert out to me but without gloves covering her hands or a bag to carry the Tiramisu in. Honestly I was beyond disgusted by this. I actually thought they would have taken health precautions seriously but apparently they dont. I don't think I'll be returning here again anytime soon or at all unless they make some changes here. read more

This place is not exactly a 'wine parlor' or 'wine bar', but perhaps a restaurant with wine. After living in wine country and working in wine for years, I was excited to visit my hometowns only wine bar. I checked various press coverage describing their flights and glasses. Unfortunately, we tried twice to visit (on a Tuesday and Wednesday) and were unable to be seated either time despite seats being available in the front in both scenarios. The person at the door wasn't super informative or helpful. There is no mention of requiring a reservation or any notice of an online reservation system on their site. Additionally, while reviewing the 'about', I noticed that the owner Lou claims to be a member of the Court of Master Sommeliers, yet is not listed as one of their members. As a wine professional, I find the wording of his experience eyebrow raising. If you want a glass of wine, just pick up a nice bottle at Harvard's or another wine bar and avoid this place. read more

While in Aiken due to the Master's we discovered this gem of a restaurant. It is small possibly 8 or 10 tables but we enjoyed the best meal we have had in a very long time. Coming from NY and living on Hilton Head for a long time we are used to good restaurants. Solo Vino was fabulous. Their clear love of good food and wine were evident. Our meal was expertly prepared and the sommelier matched wines to our meal. Service was good as well. This restaurant may encourage us to return to Aiken more often . read more

We really like Solo Vino and have been there several times. We we there recently and we quite dismayed when after being at our table for 1 hour and 15 minutes we were told that we'd have to leave soon as the next reservation for our table had arrived. What??? We were never told this prior. We had my sister from out of town with us and were very embarrassed. We still had wine in our glasses and had planned to order desert which we did not do since we were asked to leave. I'm very disheartened and not sure what our future dining there will look like as we had a sting from this treatment (ie: will we continue to go there). Had we been told when we made our reservation we would not have been pleased but at least our expectations would have been set. For an evening dining experience at a restaurant like Solo Vino we'd expect to be there for a minimum of 2 hours versus 1.5 hours. read more

This is one of our favorites in Aiken and we would rank it very high for all the places we have lived. Lou is a great owner/chef. We are members of their wine club and have enjoyed their special dinners. Christine really knows her wines. They have a great selection at competitive prices. Now that we are grounded with coronavirus, they have curb side service. Just had a fantastic meal - rack of lamb and airline chicken. My boyfriend and I went to this place the other night, both never being there before, and LOVED IT!! All staff members were all really nice and so was the ambiance. They have great selection of wines and we were very excited about the wine flights they offered. Food was amazing, the portions were a good size and the prices were very reasonable. This newish restaurant is incredibly fantastic.The interior is beautiful & welcoming. One of the owners, Stephanie makes sure everything is to your satisfaction. The wine list is seriously impressive & thoughtful. The menu changes often as they have no freezer, or microwave. The cheese & charcuterie board is a wonderful mixture of several cheeses, salumi, nuts, crackers, jams, olives & pickled vegetables. Beautifully presented & delicious. Plenty for 2 people. We had 4 different entrees on 2 occasions, one better than the next. Mixed grill with wild boar, sausage & shrimp. Etoufee with rice, whole grilled fish presented on a board & fluke piccata which was out of this world. The seafood chowder was sublime. Everything the chef touches becomes an incredibly experience & his expertise shines thru on every dish. The creme brûlée completed a perfect meal. Our server Nick was wonderful & attentive. Everything was delicious! We had a group of eight for a birthday dinner on Sunday night. Our waiter was well trained and very nice. The Sommelier was great and even provided a "custom" flight of 3 wines which were excellent. I had a steak special and my husband had the salmon. Creme Brûlée was great too! Service was very good. Felt a little rushed at first but that's better than having our server be a ghost. She got the flow of our table and was spot on after a few. Food was good, ordered the mixed plate of lamb and steak. Came out a little closer to room temp than I would prefer but still very good. Chocolate mousse was tasty, waitress did her best impression of an expresso... would be a nice add for the real thing. Good wine choices, didn't realize there was a bottle option until well into the dinner. Overall good experience, we will be back. read more

What a wonderful dining experience. We were visiting Aiken and stopped in the Solo Vino Wine Parlor mid day to see if we could make dinner reservations and if they were able to cater to Celiacs. We met Owner/Chef Lou who was welcoming and friendly. He was fully knowledgeable of gluten issues and as everything is made to order he could accommodate any food allergies, so there were no issues. Unfortunately, Lou advised us that the restaurant was booked solid for the next three nights and we were leaving the following morning. The restaurant is small and only has about 10 tables inside the restaurant but they do have four tables outside. Lou provided us the phone number of his son/co-owner Nick who handles the front end of the business and advised us to call him later in the afternoon to see if they could accommodate us outside. We called Nick and he, like his dad, was friendly and accommodating and arranged for us to eat outside around 5:30 PM. It was a beautiful evening in Aiken around 70 degrees on December 2 and eating outside was perfect. We were warmly greeted by Stephanie and seated promptly. Our server was Beverly, another friendly and bubbly personality, who attended us that evening. Beverly is another plus for this business. All I can say about dinner is WOW, WOW, WOW. We both ordered the Steak au Poivre which was a beautiful tenderloin cooked to perfection along with mashed potatoes and asparagus. During our dining, co-owner Nick stopped by twice, once to welcome us and later to check on our food and service. We found they opened a little over two years ago and just months short of Covid hitting. They were able to survive and now seem to be prospering. So happy for them. They also have a large selection of wines available for purchase on the retail side plus wine flights that are available with dinner. The residents of Aiken are so lucky to have this restaurant and how I wish we had something of this level in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. If you plan to visit Aiken, this is a must on your visit and you may want to book a reservation well before your arrival so you can have a truly wonderful dining experience. read more
