175g Aberdeen, sautéed bimi (broccoli), and mashed potatoes for me with the peppers in the middle
    Ciera O.

Very very good! Was pleasantly surprised by this steakhouse in the middle of Barcelona, but so glad I made it here! I had read lots of of reviews about the staff being very friendly and walking you through the menu to explain everything and honestly that was not the case for me and my partner. We sat down and it took the waiter about 10 minutes to even come over to us. They didn't explain the menu at all to us but just looked at us, expecting us to figure it out. Luckily it wasn't too hard since I had prepared beforehand and read the reviews enough to understand what to do. I got 175g of the Aberdeen cooked medium, with the sautéed bimi (broccolini for anyone like myself who had no idea what bimi was) and creamy mashed potatoes. The food was delicious! The mashed potatoes were honestly like liquid butter in the best way possible. And the bimi was excellent as well. The steak was cooked perfectly medium and flavorful. My partner had 250g of a steak I unfortunately can't remember the type cooked medium. Theirs was cooked a little more medium-rare, possibly because it was a larger portion, the temp was off a bit? We also tried the padròn peppers which were fantastic. I was so full but if not, I would have had the entire helping of peppers myself. If you enjoy steak, or even just simply want to mix up your food experiences from the typical Tapas and seafood while in Barcelona, this place is a must-visit!

The service was quick and accurate with our order. As far as the food goes everything we had was worth it. Tons of flavor in every dish. Favorite was for sure the roast beef dish with peppers. With the spicy sandwich in a close 2nd. Sangrias were STRONG, which is what we like, right!? Let the ice melt a bit if you want it to not have such a bite. The back terrace is much more enjoyable than the bar so we chose to sit in the back. Even on a hot day it was pleasant with the shade blinds and fans they have.

The staff, the service, the ambiance, the sangria, & the food! All excellent!!! Their sangria & cava sangria have been the best blended I've tried so far in Barcelona. My husband tried the Asturiana de Los Valles, Aberdeen, & Frisian cuts of steak & they were all delicious!

Dined two days at the Alexandra Hotel's Solomillo - had a great attentive bartender. Food was excellent. I'll go back tonight!

The Marque's De Murrieta was excellent. I highly recommend for the wine pairing if you are ordering and if it is available. We had the Rubia Gallega, smallest portion. Very tender, very lean. A rate combination. Then the seasonal tomato with burrata and basil. Very traditional and tasteful. The plate of cured meats and three cheeses left an impression. As a combination, more than enough to satisfy two. As a whole, the different flavors provided a lot of playfulness and fun to try.

We were staying at the hotel for a few days and wanted a great meal for our last night. While restaurant was closed on Monday, they had an abbreviated menu to order off of. We sat outside and enjoyed a wonderful meal, with excellent service. We both had the beef tenderloin, salad and fries. A simple but absolutely wonderful meal. The steak was cooked to perfection and so tender you really did not need a knife. Salad was tossed in an oil/vinegar dressing, the fries were on point!

Make no mis-steak, Solomillo is a meat lover's paradise! The vibes of the place are upscale but not stuffy. The star of the menu is definitely meat but presented in an interesting fashion. Basically, the menu features five different cow breeds from different regions, each with different types of upbringing and diet. This results in distinctive flavor profiles. Your choice is simple, just select which meats you want to try and how many grams you want to eat. Seems overwhelming? The servers will guide you through the process, outlining the differences between each breed and the recommended amount to order. I suggest sharing a few different types to sample the different flavors. Once the meat is selected, time to move to garnishes. OMG, the garnishes were amazing!!! Each one of them harmonized the beef exceptionally well (note there are hardly any pics of the garnishes. They were gone before I realize it!) special props to the tomato salad, the piquillo peppers, the creamed spinach, the foie and the broccolini.

Decided to sit at the bar and wait for a friend of mine while at the Hilton Alexandria. Great beer and also had a sample of aged pork and a few sirloin samples as well. It was great and the bartender was pretty cool and knowledgeable of where to go and places to check out while I was here.

Fans of sirloin steak need to rush to Solomillo, the Alexandria Hotel's newest restaurant in Barcelona. As its name suggests, the primary focus of the menu is spectacular cuts of sirloins, so much so that it's the only main they serve. That doesn't mean the menu is boring by any means, and the different weights of the meat are individual for each customer's preference. I love steak, and was happy to meet my friend for lunch on Saturday at Solomillo. We dined on the beautiful terrace, and the city provided the perfect backdrop as we bordered Mallorca Street. The restaurant design is modern yet relaxed, and keeps with the style of the hotel and all the furniture is Spanish-made. We decided to try crystal bread with tomato and a plate of cured meat to start our meal. The meat was salty and delicious, and a great assortment to sample. The bread was fresh and delicious, and paired nicely with the tomato. I chose 500 gr of Rubia Gallega for my main, while my friend opted for 175 grams of Nebraska Black Angus. The steaks were cooked to perfection and both were juicy and tender. My steak melted in my mouth like butter. We shared a variety of sides, including grilled artichokes, spice watercress, radish and radish sauce, and Basque Country style lettuce and onion salad. They all offered a tangy bite that paired with the tender meat well. The subtle heat of the radish and the earthy flavor of the watercress and artichokes complimented excellently. For dessert, I always tend toward chocolate, and in this case I loved the flourless chocolate cake. It was moist and rich. My friend indulged in cheesecake with strawberry sauce that was beautifully presented. Solomillo is a sirloin lover's dream come true, but with great service, beautiful designs, and delicious sides, it's truly a restaurant that has it all.

Fancy place offering steak. This place needed more variety in their menu. Atmosphere was stuffy. Food aways okay, but not worth the price.

My Greek salad was very authentic and was as good as any salad I had while I lived in Greece. Very fresh vegetables, great Feta and seasoned to perfection. The shrimp scampi under the Tapas menu with garlic was equally good and oh so tasty. The smallish inside restaurant is best described as rustic and a tad warm. Instead I opted for the outside dining area, which has just a few tables but offered a very pleasant ambiance in the small side street this business is located on with low foot traffic and a very nice breeze on the warm day I dined here. The relaxed dining on the outside is definitely the way to go here especially during the summer months. From a negative standpoint, certain aspects of the service were too slow. I was seated pretty quickly upon arrival but I waited a tad bit too long to get my order in. Once ordered though, the food came pretty quickly on a positive note. However, for all intents and purposes the service stopped at that point where I had no follow up and literally had to walk inside the business to get my bill. Overall, the dining experience was still great for me slow service aside as the quality of the food and outdoor ambiance far outweighed the negatives. I would say if you are in a bit of there rush you may want to look elsewhere. However, if you are looking for a relaxing dining experience with great food than this business will be definitely fit the bill!

Ziryab seemed to fit the bill, so we made plans to stop here during our first night in the city. Ziryab is located close to the Gothic Quarter, on side street. It's kind of inconspicuous from the outside, but the interior gives way to a really welcoming space. The restaurant is separated into two main areas, with an earth-tone color scheme that has a rustic, almost cave-like aesthetic. The high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows keep the dining room open and spacious. The tapas menu had a good selection, and we decided on several items: pan con tomate, sweet potato rolls, chicken cannelloni, bacon-wrapped figs, croquettes, falafel, and a charcuterie board. All the tapas were great - my favorites were the chicken cannelloni, pan con tomate, and the charcuterie board. The cannelloni especially was a standout - definitely a unique dish, and the chicken was super flavorful. We opted for dessert, and got the feta whip cheesecake - this was great as well. The combination of tang and sweet was a good finisher to our meal. Service was great - everyone was friendly and our dishes were served at a good pace. Overall, I'm glad I tried out Ziryab - the tapas were delicious and atypical of ones you find elsewhere in Barcelona. I would have no qualms returning here for another meal.

We were there just after 7 pm so it wasn't as busy as I imagine it will get later, because in Barcelona, people don't have dinner until 9 or 10 PM. We ordered fresh salmon with dill, coroquetas de jamón iberico, a cod fritter, and chicken cannelloni with foie gras and black truffle sauce. We also ordered the pan with tomate, of course to soak up the truffle sauce. The cannelloni was amazing! I mean it melted in your mouth amazing!! After our snacks... We ordered dessert. It's done so right, juicy tangy, bursting with flavors and the pita in the salad is made into a curly flower and gives a delicious crunch. We liked the dish of garbanzo and yogurt a bit less, as it was quite heavy and lacked flavor. My son was very pleased with shish tavouk with chicken, and I loved my halloumi dish.
