Solomillo is located in the lobby area of the Alexander Barcelona Hilton. There is table seating outside as well as a large sharing table inside and a very nice bar area. As a hotel guest, I enjoyed how pretty the bar looked. Nice lighting and very good service. In the evening after a long day of sightseeing, it was nice to have a casual drink. They have an extensive wine list and they serve authentic Catalan food. There is even a fresh Jamon leg on a carving table for absolute freshness. The cheese selections were also very nice and they too were in a display case well identified as to the price and weight for each variety. The noise level was pretty low but it also was not crowded. The outside tables have umbrellas and comfortable seating but when it is very hot out, I would choose to eat inside. It can get very noisy from the street traffic. read more

We were on the lookout for a steak restaurant that would offer regional wines by the class and we found it here. A nice break from the more crowded restaurants in the area. This restaurant offered fine dining experience with wonderful service. The atmosphere is a contemporary vibe and minimalistic chic. Reservations are accepted and we were immediately seated. Upon arrival. Our server could not have been more helpful and pleasant. Menus are available in Spanish and English which helped with our choices. This is a sirloin steak restaurant; Steak choices are offered by weight and from a selection of six unique beef brands. A number of specialty sauces are also available to accompany your steak - our server recommended the Parisian Café sauce, which was an excellent version of a mild Au poivre. Starters include typical Spanish charcuterie, but of quality choices. Our server was flexible and accommodated our request to have a side of the grilled peppers served with our charcuterie, which was a wonderful pairing. The steaks were cooked to perfection, and the mashed potatoes honestly reminded us of liquid butter they were so good! This location has a wonderful wine list for choices by the bottle. There were also at least a half a dozen types of wine that were available by the glass from the region which allowed for a nice wine tasting. There were some nice dessert choices too and the coffee was excellent. we had been to a number of Michelin rated steakhouses, and this was by far the best steak we had in Spain and an excellent pricepoint. We came here for my birthday, and I loved it. As part of my gluten-free journey, I have become primarily a carnivore. And my favorite cuts are the filet mignon and the New York strip. Solomillo technically translates to sirloin, but the cuts in Spain are not the same as in the US. Throughout my trip I found solomillo to be closer to the fillet as you can see in the picture. In any case, if you come to this restaurant, they live by their name. They serve primarily solomillo. You have the choice of the type of meat (I had the Angus, but they have 5 choices in total), and you choose the weight (I went with 350 grams which is about 3/4 pounds). Everything is a la carte, so you can choose your sides separately. The place was fantastic and the waitstaff was great. We started at the bar downstairs where the bartenders were entertaining and fun. Once we moved upstairs the ambiance was very nice and it was fairly quiet. By the end of the night, we struck up a conversation with a couple seated next to us which was also fun. If you are into meat and are in Barcelona this should be on your list to try out. read more

Very very good! Was pleasantly surprised by this steakhouse in the middle of Barcelona, but so glad I made it here! I had read lots of of reviews about the staff being very friendly and walking you through the menu to explain everything and honestly that was not the case for me and my partner. We sat down and it took the waiter about 10 minutes to even come over to us. They didn't explain the menu at all to us but just looked at us, expecting us to figure it out. Luckily it wasn't too hard since I had prepared beforehand and read the reviews enough to understand what to do. I got 175g of the Aberdeen cooked medium, with the sautéed bimi (broccolini for anyone like myself who had no idea what bimi was) and creamy mashed potatoes. The food was delicious! The mashed potatoes were honestly like liquid butter in the best way possible. And the bimi was excellent as well. The steak was cooked perfectly medium and flavorful. My partner had 250g of a steak I unfortunately can't remember the type cooked medium. Theirs was cooked a little more medium-rare, possibly because it was a larger portion, the temp was off a bit? We also tried the padròn peppers which were fantastic. I was so full but if not, I would have had the entire helping of peppers myself. It's very lovely with low lighting, plants and all the ambience you need on a cool summer night...breeze included. The bar inside offers seating at the bar as well as at a large public table. The menu is casual like the terrace cafe. The terrace cafe aka tables on the sidewalk, deliver a separate more casual menu. Seating is self serve and begins at 10am and runs until 11pm. Drinks. Tapas. Casual dining all come here. They must have an ordinance that requires that all the tables clear the sidewalk by 11pm in preparation for the 1am curfew. Service is curt but efficient. So you pick from a very tender breed that is mild in flavor or whatever breed you want. They have details on where, tenderness and what flavor each breed features. This is a steak house with differents cut of beef that you order by weight. For starters we had a good burrata and tomato dish and oysters. Oysters are more fishy than what you get served in the US but they were good. The different cuts of steaks that we had were flavorful and the apple cake for dessert was very good. The best steak I've ever had. It is located in the second floor of the Hilton Curio hotel and while it takes a bit getting used to the details of the menu, it was well worth the price. Our server (patiently) explained the different types of beef and while I was skeptical that the types of beef would taste so distinctive from one to the next, it was a delight. You can choose the portion size and preparation temperature as well as accompanying sauces but frankly the meat stood on its own with needing anything else. A bit pricey but on par with other high end steakhouses -only better quality. If you're staying at the hotel (we were) it's a must. Basically, the menu features five different cow breeds from different regions, each with different types of upbringing and diet. This results in distinctive flavor profiles. Your choice is simple, just select which meats you want to try and how many grams you want to eat. Seems overwhelming? The servers will guide you through the process, outlining the differences between each breed and the recommended amount to order. I suggest sharing a few different types to sample the different flavors. Once the meat is selected, time to move to garnishes. OMG, the garnishes were amazing!!! Each one of them harmonized the beef exceptionally well (note there are hardly any pics of the garnishes. The Marque's De Murrieta was excellent. I highly recommend for the wine pairing if you are ordering and if it is available. We had the Rubia Gallega, smallest portion. Very tender, very lean. A rate combination. Then the seasonal tomato with burrata and basil. Very traditional and tasteful. The plate of cured meats and three cheeses left an impression. As its name suggests, the primary focus of the menu is spectacular cuts of sirloins, so much so that it's the only main they serve. That doesn't mean the menu is boring by any means, and the different weights of the meat are individual for each customer's preference. I love steak, and was happy to meet my friend for lunch on Saturday at Solomillo. We dined on the beautiful terrace, and the city provided the perfect backdrop as we bordered Mallorca Street. The restaurant design is modern yet relaxed, and keeps with the style of the hotel and all the furniture is Spanish-made. We decided to try crystal bread with tomato and a plate of cured meat to start our meal. The meat was salty and delicious, and a great assortment to sample. The bread was fresh and delicious, and paired nicely with the tomato. I chose 500 gr of Rubia Gallega for my main, while my friend opted for 175 grams of Nebraska Black Angus. The steaks were cooked to perfection and both were juicy and tender. My steak melted in my mouth like butter. We shared a variety of sides, including grilled artichokes, spice watercress, radish and radish sauce, and Basque Country style lettuce and onion salad. They all offered a tangy bite that paired with the tender meat well. The subtle heat of the radish and the earthy flavor of the watercress and artichokes complimented excellently. For dessert, I always tend toward chocolate, and in this case I loved the flourless chocolate cake. It was moist and rich. My friend indulged in cheesecake with strawberry sauce that was beautifully presented. Solomillo is a sirloin lover's dream come true, but with great service, beautiful designs, and delicious sides, it's truly a restaurant that has it all. read more

Our steaks were are cooked to perfection. I have to say the service was some of the best I have ever had. I really liked the label on our wine bottle and the young female server surprised me with her getting off the bottle and had made it like a print for me. That was so very nice of her. Absolutely loved this place. I was skeptical at first of going to a steakhouse in the land of pork, but I was totally wrong. We had 5 adults and ordered 1 of every cut of meat (I think 350 grams for each steak). We ordered the mustard sauce and the Parisian sauce to go with our steaks along with green beans, mac n cheese, salad, tomato bread, snap peas, and a cheese plate.
