Dinner our first night in Barcelona. Our guide recommended a nearby Tapas place that had good food and was close by and casual. Txapela was a good suggestion. The menu was in Catalan but it really helped that U could download an English version. We ordered several shareable appetizers and some individual Tapas. I took pictures of most but not all. Food was good. Portions were about what U woukd expect (Tapas sized). They had some beer, Sangria and sidra specials. (TIP: Try the Sidra/Cider BEFORE U order a bunch... it's very different from Cider in the U.S. - more like a Sour beer). Service was just OK. But food came out pretty quick when U coukd flag down the waitress. Final check was pretty reasonable.

The view of Catalonia square is very nice.

Food was delicious! Wait staff was horrendous. They all congregate and socialize while people stand at the door and wait to be seated. Once seated they take orders at random and bring food out whenever. We sat down and waited a while for drinks, whereas the people who were sat at the same time as us were eating by the time we got drinks. This happened a few times as we looked around. The servers are in no hurry to bus the tables and will have people wait forever to be seated. For such a busy place, you would expect them to have this figured out by now. But the food and their named sparking wine was delicious.

This is the place to go for delicious tapas and more. We chose to sit outside but it soon got cold and they had to work on the portable heater. Not a big deal. Part of our first order came quickly and was quite delicious. We ordered the roasted potatoes, crab on toast and the garlic shrimp. The shrimp didn't come and then we ordered it again and still it didn't come. The third time the waitress came by we told her we never got our order. Finally, it came and was yummy. If you love people watching and enjoying the culture of where you are, this is a great place to go whether you sit inside or outside.

Is this a tourist spot...yes. But if you're looking for a quick bite or a snack in the area, this place is great. This was our first stop after checking into our hotel. I actually like that they have a picture menu because I didn't feel like getting up to look at the pintxos bar. This place is Basque style and while it may not be the best spot, it certainly is better than any tapas spot we have in NYC. Service is brisk, but like I said, it's a great place for quick bites. The food came out quick and the drinks are refreshing. The sangria taste like juice, but packs a punch! Definitely check it out if you're in the area!

I dont know why this place only has 3 stars. Food came out quick and was better than any tapas ive had so far in NY. Maybe it was because it was my first stop and right next to the hotel and I was super hungry after the 8 hour flight and hour and a half customs line. Anyway, Food was delicious and here are some pics.

A bit of a tourist trap. Tapas are normally the same price but larger portion. Came in for a quick bite before dinner. Its not bad food but bang for your buck this is not the place. We realized this when we got our first tapa, however since the food isnt bad. Enjoy a beer and order something!

I was in Barcelona on vacation and looking for a restaurant for a quick bite. Found this restaurant, so I decided to dine in. It was around 5:30pm and fairly busy. They had menu in multiple languages, you will be able to choose exactly what you want. I ordered a few items from the menu. Seafood skewer was my favorite. Other two were okay. Service was a little slow. Located in the nice location.

This place just screams TOURIST TRAP! I only grabbed a few drinks and a potatos bravas so I can't comment on the food very extensively, but could tell that this would not be the best place to eat. Great place to rest your feet and enjoy a glass (huge) of sangria though!

Came here for a breakfast sandwich and some orange juice and it was okay. There was nothing amazingly special about it, but it did taste good, and it was a nice quick snack in the morning. They had a special that came with coffee and orange juice. Actually I take that back, the orange juice was pretty good and tasted fresh squeezed, the rest was just okay.

First allowed to order, then say no avocado, no orange juice, forgot tomatoes, brought green tomatoes after reminder. Just avoid the place

The place had a welcoming vibe, and pintxos were on offer, so we figured why not? Overall, it was a good lunch, but the selection of pintxos was pretty limited - not nearly as robust, creative, or flavorful as a few other places we'd tried earlier in the week across town. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. Service was okay - efficient but not particularly warm or engaging. You definitely get the sense this is a spot that sees a lot of tourists, and the staff may be a little weary of that constant flow. At the table next to us, a group of fellow American travelers were all eating burgers and fries... which kind of summed it up. That said, the location is convenient, and if you're nearby and want a quick bite in a casual setting, it's not a bad choice. Just don't expect to be blown away. 4 stars

As the kind gentleman mentioned, La Boqueria was just too busy and this smaller market had a better pace for Pinotxo. They have a counter with 10 bar stools and open kitchen format with food displayed at the counter. I can see seating becoming a premium as the day progresses. I arrived shortly after they opened and already there were 3 customers ordering Cafe Con Leches and Xuxos. I did the same with my Xuxo to go. I saw they had Octopus Galician style and despite the am hour couldn't resist. Pinotxo's version was very good-that said, I've had more tender Octopus. Definitely a Tapa size and pricey for the portion but gave me my fix for one of my favorite dishes before leaving Barcelona. I saw Tripe and Beef cheeks on the menu and asked one of the servers which one? She gave me a look of "I can't decide"meaning can't go wrong with either. Ordered the Beef cheeks as I've never had it. Rich, decadent and definitely not a breakfast meal-I liked it! I was told the white cubes were collagen and not fat. Definitely a dish to try. Cafe Con Leche was excellent! The Xuxo (one of Jose Andres's favorites) was amazing! Like a donut, a little bit of flakiness of a croissant and filled with this rich, delicious Crema and as if that wasn't enough coated with sugar. We loved it! One of those delicacies that sells out early. Service was engaged and friendly from all of the people behind the counter. They are located inside the Market at one of the corners (Tamarit/Urgell) before the exit. Make this stop for Xuxos and some delicacies you won't find at your typical spots in the area.
