I have been going here for a solid 8 years with all 3 of my dogs. I have never not paid. I have ALWAYS walked out of the door with a ZERO bill. My oldest dog had a $3500.00 bill once, paid in FULL. There have been several times that I have not been valued as a customer and each time I got a call and was asked to stay, and I did. I take my second dog in for her yearly. At my last visit, with my youngest dog, I was encouraged to apply for carecredit and I did. I take my second dog in today and the bill is $360.00. I hand off my carecredit card. I am told that I need my ID. No problem. I show my drivers license that I put in my iPhone wallet. Everything is there that is on the front of my drivers license including my photo. Let me repeat....EIGHT YEARS OF COMPLETE LOYALTY. They tell me that that is not good enough. I need the physical drivers license. I ask why and they tell me that it is because there has been some fraudulent activity with carecredit. I Showed them my drivers license and because they could not feel the card that I can not pay with care credit. Absolutely ridiculous. This is the kicker. They were willing to vaccinate my dog under my name. Addressed me by name the entire time I was there AND as I stood in the lobby PISSED...they say...OH MS CONWELL YOU CAN LEAVE YOUR CREDIT CARD HERE AND GO HOME TO GET YOUR DRIVERS LICENSE. Oh, so you know what my name is that matches the name on my credit card that matches the name on my IPHONE ID??? Gas is $5 per gallon and I was charged $360 for a wellness check without all the vaccinations they suggested Michelle the office manager was the one that suggested carecredit to me at the previous dog visit and spent the time setting me up but now I am not Ms Conwell? Puppy in for routine spay - Sent home with undiagnosed broken leg. We brought our 6 month old Golden Retriever to Solon Animal Hospital to be spayed. We received a call that Piper had bruised her leg, and we needed to postpone surgery. She could not put any weight on it. We called back after 2 days, and they said to bring her back for X-rays. They determined she had a fractured tibia. We were offered a discount on surgery and were told the vet's office is not liable. We aren't sure why X-rays weren't taken before they sent her home. There was no apology and no definitive explanation of what happened. In fact, we were asked if Piper was wild at home and told that another vet witnessed her running around in her run before surgery. We felt the dog was blamed for acting like a normal puppy and thought they made a quick assumption that the dog injured itself. We received many assurances that the staff would never jeopardize the dog's safety. I agree that no one would intentionally do so, but accidents can happen to any of us. I'm unconvinced a thorough investigation took place, even if only to ensure this will not happen again. Also, if the vet believes running around in a run can cause a bone break in a young dog, why was Piper not confined when a vet saw her running? We remained polite and calm, but dissatisfied with the answers. A regional director called 2 days later, after legal review, informing us there was no video and declined to cover expenses. The vet herself never called back. We took Piper elsewhere to have surgery, but recovery has been long and difficult. We have fully trusted this vet with our pets for over a decade, but in this case, it is my opinion they did not consistently put the animal first. We are heartbroken for the dog. And hurt. It's not about money. We paid much more to have surgery done elsewhere. It's that the vet didn't accept full responsibility for the safety of our dog. We aren't sure how to trust another vet again. It is also clear to us now that Ohio law does very little to protect our animals or incentivize vets to do everything in their power so this never happens. read more

I am always on the look out for a vet that meets my needs, both on a pet care level and also on a customer service level. I have found that it is difficult for vets to be able to do this at the same time, so I am willing to drive the extra miles to go to a good vet. This animal hospital is on richmond road, conveniently located near a few highways, so it is very accessible. The parking lot is decently sized, which is also a plus. The building is cozy, and make sure to call before going in to determine whether or not it is car-side service, but as for now it is not. The waiting room was fine, and social distancing is possible. The people at the desk are knowledge, quick and painless. I got taken to a room almost immediately and my cat, Lola, was seen almost immediately by the technician who was very nice and professional. Shortly after the doctor came in and was also professional and caring. She did end up taking Lola to the back room for some shots, but most everything was done in front of me, including Lola's temperature being taken, and an oral medication being given. The doctor was very helpful in scheduling a good time for a booster shot and urinalysis. The check out procedure was also very painless and quick. Overall, this is a great animal hospital to go to. They are organized, professional, helpful and quick. The best part about this vet is that there are 3 office cats, just chilling and interacting with the staff and clients. read more

Solon Animal Hospital is a clean and friendly place for your furry friend. I've owned a cat for a year now and he has multiple health issues. They have always taken the time to answer my questions and explain things to me. The veterinarian always tells me to call and leave a message if I need something or if I have a questions and they respond in a timely fashion. They offer different treatments and care for my cat and they have always been sweet to him. And me. They have always made my cat feel as comfortable as can be while at the vet. Sometimes the Dr will even sit on the floor with my cat just to make him comfortable where he is. The one veterinarian gave me resources to look up to decrease stress in my cats environment which is important to me to look at other ways to help my cat live a happy life without constantly giving him medications. The only thing that could be better is the phone/answering system. I know they only have 1-2 employees at the front desk but more times then not I'm on hold for 5+ minutes. They get a lot of calls tho- everyone wants to come here for the care they provide I guess! They know my cat pretty well by now and I think even when I have to relocate I'll make 40 minute drive because they provide good care for my cat. read more

While visiting family over Christmas 2021, our dog Katie got a bite mark on her back from playing with her "cousin" dogs. Solon Animal Hospital was able to fit us in for an exam, treated our girl and did so with amazing Vets, Techs and office staff. Everyone was extremely professional, helpful and pleasant. We went back for a follow up and received the same excellent care. We are back in FL now and they continue to contact us to see if she's ok. We adopted our puppy in February of this year and have been bringing him to Solon Animal Hospital since we brought him home. We love the staff here! Dr. Andrews and Dr. Mullen have been wonderful in assessing our puppy, listening to our questions, and giving thoughtful answers and feedbacks. The vet techs are always so sweet to our little pup, and we love when we bring him in and someone excitedly calls out his name the second he walks in! The only time we had a negative experience was the very first time we called to make our first appointment. We have only interacted with that employee a handful times (and haven't had the best experiences), but every other person we have encountered here has been great. We felt very comfortable with the knowledge of all the staff when we brought our puppy in for his neutering and we had to come in when he stopped eating one day (we were able to get an appointment in with the vet quickly, which really helped ease our worries). Extremely dissatisfied by the medical care at this facility. I have a brachiocephalic dog. Our dog had an intake appointment and lots of bloodwork. When we returned for the second visit for evaluation we were informed upon asking about the results of the bloodwork: "the doctor doesn't like to give copies of that, and you have to speak to him directly". This really set the tone for what was not a great experience. As the owner of a patient, copies of medical data must be made available upon request according to established guidelines. When the diagnosis was unclear, we were basically told (paraphrased) "don't come back here if it doesn't show up in our test". A couple of weeks later, our dog developed respiratory distress. We called to make an appointment and we were told that we couldn't be seen, and it was relayed that "nothing else can be done here". It turned out our dog was just extremely anxious and was experiencing reverse sneezing. He was in significant distress for two days because this practice doctor failed to take responsibility for a canine patient. We have since gone to another local veterinary practice and found them to be professional,and responsible. Here is my advice: when it comes to medical care, dental care, finding a car mechanic, and apparently veterinary care, always go by word-of-mouth. We are traveling with our pet dog. On Friday we noticed he had an issue with his right front paw. On Saturday morning we called and we were able to get an appointment same day. The staff and doctor were all caring and professional. He was evaluated and got medication. He seems to be on the mend now and we can rest easy that further medical care is just a phone call away. read more

We live in Akron and normally visit another Ohio Pet Vet clinic closer to our home. However, we work to our dog trying to chew her dew claw off and needed to get her in to see someone. We knew our regular vet would be booked solid, as they are one of the top Veterinary clinics in Northeast Ohio. We searched other Ohio Pet Vet clinics near our home and were able to be squeezed into Solon Animal Hospital. We were immediately greeted with a smile and waited less than 5 minutes before our dog was seen. They were able to cut her dew claw and the rest of her nails, as they were a little long, and did an exam to be sure she was healthy otherwise. The entire team at Solon Animal Hospital was friendly, courteous, and explained everything they were doing and what prevention we could do to be sure to decrease a repeat. Everyone was fantastic and I would highly recommend Solon Animal Hospital to ANYONE that is looking for a competent, caring, and friendly Veterinary Clinic. read more

I have gone to solon veterinary clinic for 40 years. That was when it was Dr Bartels. It was great but he retired and so did all of his ethics in the business. He must have sold it to a group that money comes first. I have went in 5 days ago. My dog is still sick. I asked how long for antibiotics to work. No answer for two days. I asked if they needed to see my dog and the response was immediately yes with another office visit of 50+ dollars. They saw the dog 5 days ago with same illness. I have an extremely reactive dog but they can't see her unless she is knocked out. The vet couldn't examine her but still charged a 150.00 visit for antibiotics and exam and mostly sleeping meds for next visit. I understand it was too difficult, they should have given me the relaxant and rescheduled for later. I will use the pills, but not with them. I will go 15 miles to another vet when they are 2 miles away. I want to go where my dogs health is before money. read more

I had an elderly cat who had developed a couple different chronic illnesses. Dr. Andrews and Dr. Mullins were so kind and helpful. It's hard to get bad news about a family member and they took the time to explain everything in easily understandable terms, and help us understand the best treatments. Everytime our cat was hospitalized overnight they let us come visit for as long as we needed to make her feel safe and comfortable. When my sweet little girl reached the point of needing to cross the rainbow bridge, everyone on the staff wrote heartfelt messages in a card and they sent us flowers. The people here truly care and treat every pet as if they were their own. When/if we get another pet, we will trust their care to this facility. read more

I have been going to Solon Vet Clinic for over forty years. This week my cat was VERY sick so I called & was told there was no appointment available. I called their Brunswick facility & was told to take my cat to an emergency clinic for treatment. I moved to Medina 9 years ago but still continued to go to Solon Vet Clinic because Dr. Bartels was always wonderful to all my pets. I was lucky enough to find a vet in my area that took my cat in right away & my cat is doing fine. I will not go back to Solon Vet Clinic with any of my pets. I will no longer recommend them to my family & friends. I think being a long time customer for all these years they could/should have seen my cat. read more
