$30k and FIVE MONTHS AFTER permission to operate granted and I'm still producing 0 solar. A few…read moreweeks after my system was deemed complete by Stellar, I noticed that my consumption from the grid had remained the same. I pulled the data from the Tesla app and lined it up with the data from the SDGE app. I sent this spreadsheet showing that I was producing zero power and getting 100% from the grid to the guys at Stellar. The immediate, defensive and accusatory, response was that I should've went with the number of panels they suggested. Keep in mind, I was producing 0 kWh, not 1 or .3 but ZERO. They did not look into it all. A few weeks later, I sent the SDGE bill and they saw the problem but stated that's a problem with SDGE and not them and that's it's my responsibility. They did not validate that SDGE was receiving a signal showing my systems production. Twice, stellar asked that I've paid for the system completely before it was done. I held out payment until it was complete, but did not realize that this step had not been completed. As of this writing, the situation has not been resolved. I have called SDGE more than 10 times and spoken with management. Stellar has offered nothing to make this right after several conversations. I am unable to comment on the system as I have yet to see it operate.

Gabe made us feel comfortable with our decision, gave us all the information we wanted, and actually drove out to our house multiple times to chat when we had additional questions and concerns. Is Aloha a smaller company, yes, but will Gabe answer your call when needed, yes! Fast forward install happened within a couple weeks of signing the deal. Minas was the head installer it seemed (all people are internal employees with Aloha and work is NOT contracted out, that was a big seller for us), and two other guys Rigo and Matt. All were super nice and very professional. Minas walked me through everything at the end, and major bonus points once he installed the piping going from battery to roof, he asked if I had paint that matched the exterior of my house. I did, and he then painted all of the piping! I know he did not have to do that, so that was a fantastic touch. They sent Travis out promptly, who is their electrician where he found that the issue was resolved by replacing a faulty 40-amp breaker that was intermittently providing the necessary voltage, even though measurements initially appear correct. While the breaker issue caused real inconvenience and unexpected costs on my end, the owner was responsive and showed willingness to smooth things over to work toward a resolution. I also want to highlight that the panel upgrade and solar/battery installation itself was clean and well done. The workmanship that Eddie, Manny, Christian and Jamie performed had overall met my expectations, and once the issue was identified, Sunline did step in to correct it. No project is perfect, but how a company responds when problems arise matters a lot. In this case, Sunline's owner and Eric was engaged, responsive, and made a sincere effort to make things right. As an engineer, and after witnessing the symptoms and corrective actions firsthand, I believe the breaker issue was likely a manufacturing defect, and it was unfortunate that it occurred during the holidays. That said, based on how Sunline handled the situation, the overall quality of their work, and the value they offer, I would recommend them and plan to continue using them for future needs.

He was extremely knowledgable, and explained the process involved in securing a residential solar system, as well as sharing information on a number of different solar panel manufacturers for us to consider. After providing him with information on our past year's electricity usage, he immediately got to work, and provided us with several options regarding the number of panels, different manufacturers, and price quotes for all the options. Michael made himself available to us to answer all our questions, and we felt extremely informed when we signed the purchasing contract. One of our concerns during the process was that our roof was constructed with clay tiles. Michael worked closely with the roofing contractor, and ensured the quality of the project, which included temporarily removing the clay tiles, installing asphalt shingles under the area which would be covered by the solar panels. She offered a free panel cleaning, which she set up internally and had their team come out this past Friday without issue. Since the cleaning the panels have been much better performing especially after these past few weeks of misting and rain, about 25% higher output. I didn't think much of it but I get now it's worth doing to get the most out of the panels. Overall a very good response and experience with OC specifically for this issue. I feel that they do want to stand out from the crowd and responding proactively to feedback gives me more confidence they'll take care of issues as they hear about them.
