Had San Diego County Solar install a Tesla Powerwall 3 and a Wall Connector on an existing 2019 solar system. It's a big job with a lot of moving parts, and it went more smoothly than much smaller projects I've had done. Seth knows this stuff very well and gives straight answers. I asked a lot of detailed questions about NEM 2.0, rate plans, and how the battery would actually behave, and I never got a sales pitch or a vague answer. When something wasn't knowable, he said so. That's rarer than it should be in this industry. The crew did clean work and were very nice and easy to deal with. The conduit was painted to match the stucco, and they went ahead and painted an older cable run that wasn't part of their job. When I hit a Tesla app issue that had nothing to do with their installation, Tim, the installation manager, spent an hour on the phone with Tesla support on my behalf. He didn't have to do that. Passed inspection first time, PTO came through shortly after, and they handled the SDCP rebate paperwork, with the check arriving faster than estimated. I highly recommend San Diego County solar. I was having problems with my Solar edge solar inverter so I looked online and I found San Diego County solar. Contacted them on the weekend and they got back to me first thing Monday. Explain the situation to them and gave them all the information I could and they were able to diagnose it over the phone. They help me contact the manufacturer and get a replacement inverter. The manufacturer sent out a new inverter and I received it within a week. Once that arrived I contacted Tim the service manager and he scheduled me in time to have the old one removed and have the new one installed. They gave me a fair pricing to replace my inverter and really helped me with getting my new inverter delivered. They made the process very easy. We were very happy with our choice of San Diego County Solar. They upgraded our main electrical panel (and handled all the communications and interactions with SDG&E so we didn't have to,) installed solar panels on our roof, installed a Tesla Backup Switch, and installed a new Tesla Powerwall battery. They managed the whole project, kept us informed, scheduled all necessary inspections, and obtained Permission to Operate from SDG&E. They also did a great job of working with the roofing company we selected to install a new roof. They communicated directly with the roofer (so we didn't have to serve as a middleman in the communications,) and coordinated schedules with them to ensure the mounts for the solar panels were installed at the correct point in the roofing process. Some other aspects of the business relationship we liked: San Diego County Solar did not request final payment (50% of the total) until we had Permission To Operate from SDG&E and were satisfied that the project was thoroughly completed. They were very responsive to emails and phone calls from us during the entire project. They also sat down with us at the end of the project to walk us through all the new hardware and software we received, and gave us a nice binder full of all the warranties, manuals, and reference materials we need to manage our installation going forward. First off, they answer the phone. I didn't need to leave a message. It was difficult to find a company to help me with a SolarEdge warranty problem. But, even though they didn't install my equipment, and they are very busy, with the solar tax credit issue, they went out of their way to work me through the problem. I am neutral about SolarEdge equipment, as they are a bit difficult to deal with despite their very good warranty. I met with 6-7 solar providers before deciding to go with SDCS and I was very happy with my decision! Our salesperson, Seth, was friendly, helpful, responsive, and most of all, extremely knowledgeable. On top of that, if he didn't know the answer, he would research it and then followed up with us! We had our roof done at the same time and SDCS worked well with our roofing contractor to time the work so that the solar rack stands went in at the same time as the new roof. My thanks go to Tim of the SD County Solar service department for quickly replacing my defective SolarEdge inverter. Originally our residential system was installed by Sullivan. So when it stopped working, I couldn't go back to our installer for help. I left phone messages at three local solar companies. Two called back. One company offered to talk to me on the phone for a charge of $99. Ugh. By contrast, Tim talked to me on the phone three times, coaching me carefully about how to deal with the manufacturer to get an under warranty replacement inverter. There's no shortage of aggressive and ubiquitous new Solar companies nowadays, including past-roofers ranging to big box-store presence 'one size fits all' solar installers. But the latter installers suffer from being only able to offer a certain brand or two of panels, a limited range of Inverters (not able to use say, module optimizers or microinverters) - and no special installations. Moreover one is made to feel more like a number, rather than working with Craftspersons. And the former are still earning their chops with the latest fun technologies.... So when I was got a good, fair Price Quote from Mike Davidson, and he and his Asst. Matty confirmed they could do a custom, Solar Carport with lovely mono panels, with SolarEdge Optimizers and Sensors for Temp and Irradiance, I was happy to enlist them for my Solar.
