This garage was fine when moving in a few years ago but over the course of a year or 2, with the installation of Waymo charging stations, this place is an absolute menace for residents of Soma Grand. The residents gate breaks frequently & when it works it's slow. The transponder to get in as a resident often fails requiring intervention. Then you have people tailgating you into the garage which then causes the transponder to fail too. The contractors for Waymo stand in the middle of the aisles blocking lanes, they added a ton of speed bumps (which is wild bc I don't know of any other garages with speed bumps) , & the Waymos themselves often put on blinkers to turn but then forgo the turn all together. This garage is a headache, period. read more

Parked here to attend an event at the Orpheum Theater. At this time, it's $28 for 4-8 hours while Trinity around the corner is $35. I think you should save the $7 and walk around 2 mins. You get a ticket when you drive in and pay at the kiosk before you go back to your car. Payment can be paid with credit card or with tap. Wednesday afternoon had plenty of parking. It was well lit but I saw no staff members. For a $28 parking lot, there should be someone? It's relatively safe only because a lot of people walk together from the Orpheum event to the parking lot. It's about a 5 min cold walk. As some other reviewer said, be careful on the way out. You pay attention to the cars then there are also people on the sidewalk. read more

Would you park in a city with 31,000 auto break ins each year? Was going to the Orpheum Theater in San Francisco to see Hamilton, and needed a place to park my car. Took the fifth street exit from highway 101, making a left onto Mission street, and then a right into this garage, taking a ticket from the parking meter machine at the entrance. The old adage that "the good ones are taken, and the only close ones are handicapped" doesn't apply here, as there are plenty of compact spots on the ground floor available an hour before the play Hamilton starts. Bring a full size car, pickup, van or SUV and you are SOL, and have to park at a higher floor. These are really subcompact spots, requiring a shoe horn to park into tiny spots at awkward angles, usually next to stairs or elevators, with concrete poles or walls, requiring a truncated parking spot. Occasionally you will see two compact spots side by side, but inevitably with a full size SUV or van straddling the parking line between the spots, rendering the remaining compact spot unusable, except to a motorcycle. I find a spot no more than 160 inches long right next to the stairs, and back my 2017 subcompact Honda Fit into the spot. I back in, as the spot is right next to a concrete wall, blocking your vision as you pull out into the corridor. Wife can barely open the door enough to get out, as she is right against the wall. No valuables in sight in the car, and nothing in the trunk, as thieves will punch out the key lock in a locked trunk with a crowbar in seconds, or break a window, and pull the interior trunk release, if something heavy is in the trunk. At least there are cameras around here in the parking garage. At the end of the play Hamilton, I'm already out the door, running the quarter mile distance to the garage, and the automated parking machine. Insert my parking stub, and pay $16 for 4 hours. Would be $24 a few minutes later, for 4-8 hours. Had a friend who parked at the Pier 39 parking garage for just over 4 hours and paid $60, @ $12 per hour, or fraction of an hour! Go to my car and it is intact, with no broken window. The conviction rate on the 31,000 break ins annually is less than 2%, even with cameras. Sold our 2013 Prius to my sister-in law after heard dozens of cases of thieves removing the 120 pound $3500 electric battery packs from parked Priuses in San Francisco in less than 23 minutes. Toughest thing about the garage may be making a left turn at the exit to go north onto Mission to hit Fifth street to get to 101 south. Got to go cross southbound two lanes, onto the northbound lanes of Mission. Not for the squeemish in congested San Francisco. Come back to your car after 6pm on a Sunday, and you'll find the place locked up, and you joining the homeless until they open at 5am Monday! read more

My car was broken into TWICE here over the past month. The security guard said there's nothing they can do. There are no cameras that are facing anywhere near my car so they don't know who did it. Anyone can just walk into this garage and smash a bunch of windows and leave with no penalties, it seems. That's $600 down the drain, or more, plus the $250/month parking fee to get my car windows smashed again and again. No point in wasting time filing a police report because they have absolutely no security and no cameras. read more

Caveat emptor. If you get in before 8:59am, it's fine. If you get in AT or after 9am, it's $24-28. If you happen to stay until 5, it jumps to $40. Next door, at the Trinity garage, which has more parking and the same security level, you get the $20/day deal if you get in at 9am, and if you don't, it's only $25 for the whole day. The price differential between the two makes it clear that taking advantage of tourists and first timers is their business model. My mistake -- never again. read more

After booking theatre tickets at the Orpheum, Spot Hero, whose service fee is $1, advertises to reserve parking through them. Having read the reviews of recommended parking lots, they were quite frightening due to all the smashed windows, theft, and lack of recourse. Needless to say, I was nervous about reserving here, but SOMA garage had less bad reviews than good. Moreover, I made sure there was nothing in the car that attracted anyone's attention. During the day, I did return to check up on the car and felt relieved that it was unmolested. When the play was over, it was a quick walk to SOMA garage which was a block away. And my car wasn't damaged! Parking spaces are small to medium so do not bring your large vehicle. If you do book online through Spot Hero, which was frustrating to use, you need to scan the QR code at the entrance and exit when you leave. On the way out, making a left hand turn accesses the freeways but causes somewhat of a jam. read more

I am writing this review as a monthly parking guest here. I can only speak highly of the director of operations, Jon de Uriarte and his staff who works here. Everyone is so diligent, hard working and kind. I am especially grateful to Lilibeth and Willie for their warmth and positive attitudes whenever I saw them, even at their busiest. I am thankful to this entire team. There is always someone present at the garage and there is security toward the front as well. I have to give props to all the staff here. What I also found reassuring is that there are security cameras all over the parking garage. And in their office someone is usually actively monitoring these screens. So awesome. DONOT GO HERE!! They tax you for parking I parked here over night from 8pm-11am so my charge was $36 but they also charge me for tax which was $9 so my total was $45. Easy to find Soma Grand building is on the north side of the street. Convenient to the the Orpheum, UN Plaza and the County building. I found this parking structure when I went to see Mike Tyson's Undisputed Truth at the Orpheum Theatre on a Saturday Night. It was one of the cheaper options to park at and was also a few blocks away from the theatre. The parking structure is clean, well-lit, and cheap. There were about 3-4 floors where I could park at. The rest of the floors were blocked off to the public. I'm assuming it's for those who live in the apartments around the area. I found no trouble finding parking even though it was a Saturday. Maybe it wasn't busy that day so I have not experienced problems finding parking thus far. The rates are really cheap considering you're near the nightlife spots in the city. It's $2.00 per hour and $10.00 max. I parked my car for about 3 hours and paid around $6-$7. Not bad. This is a great parking structure if you wanna go to the Orpheum Theatre. Geary St. and Union Square aren't too far also if you wish to go there. I like this parking structure! Highly recommended. read more

This is our go to garage for most events in the SOMA area. It's a 10-14 a day max charge depending on it being a weekday or weekend and I've never once, in the 4 or so years of using it, had an issue (though we do always self park). The security guards are always friendly, it's close to BART and makes life a little easier by existing. I do wish they'd change the name though, as it's not really that searchable. read more

Great parking location for going to the Orpheum Theatre and the Market Street Grill. It's max rate is $10 (over 4 hours), well lit, inside parking. It is just a block and a half from the theatre. We got there around 5:30 pm and had no trouble finding a place to park in the garage. [Note: they no longer have the special $7 rate for Orpheum Theatre patrons. However, 4 hours of parking is $8, so it is still a good deal]. This is a bargain since the parking lots on 8th street closer to the theatre charge $20 for theatre parking. Soma Garage, 1160 Mission St, San Francisco. Last Friday, June 24, 2022, I accidentally pulled into the Soma Garage during rush hour traffic and street closure(s). My intended garage was Trinity Garage located (Angelo's Alley) right next to Soma Garage. The older male garage attendant said this is Soma Garage and opened the gate to allow me to turn around. He did not tell me that in order to turn around and exit the way I came in, it would cost $'s to exit. There was no one behind me when I came in, so I could have backed up to exit but thought he was trying to help me. There was another car in the same situation ahead of me at the exit on Mission street and he was trying and succeeded in getting her to pay him money to exit by using his key to get the lever/gate to open. Since I was not interested in being scammed he made me exit out the back of the garage onto Odd Fellow Way, to 7th Street (shut down street by Police) and back to Mission street to Trinity Garage. As I indicated to the attendant, that I am a Grandmother who had her 9 year old Granddaughter in the car, and we were heading to her first Broadway show and that being nice and not rude to patrons should be required. I have parked in the Soma Grand many times when I have attended Orpheum Theater, this experience at Soma Garage with the attendant had my Granddaughter in tears and wanting to just go home after the mean man. Nice, clean parking garage, but they are pulling some kind of bait and switch on their customers. In June I attended an evening performance at the Orpheum and parked here because of the affordable rates. However, when I paid at the kiosk I was charged $20 for 4 hours 4 minutes. I checked out the discarded receipts of three customers who had paid shortly before me and all entered after 6pm. Two had parked for over four hours each (4 hours 1 minute and 5 hours 11 minutes respectively) and were charged $20. The other had parked for 3 hours 51 minutes and was charged $8. What the hell? I had to pay it to exit the garage, so I emailed Central Parking a few days later to see about getting a refund. Mark Hur, Area Manager, replied and said I should have been charged $10, which is the maximum morning rate. I'm not sure what that means as I had parked in the evening, but I was happy to be offered a $10 refund. I provided my address and thanked him. Judging by the other customers' receipts I saw that night, they must be systematically overcharging customers on a daily basis. It appears they are charging people who park for four hours or more $20 even though their website says the maximum daily rate is $10. If I could give less than one star I would. I'd used SOMA Grand for sometime as it was conveniently located and reasonably inexpensive for lots in the area. The staff who work valet are very nice and I always enjoyed their service. Then, one Friday I returned to the lot after work and discovered my keys had been lost by the valet. The onsite staff was as helpful as possible, but unfortunately, there's nothing they could do. My car stayed there for the weekend and they asked me to check in Tuesday once all the staff from Friday had been back (maybe someone took my key home by accident). No luck. Long story short, I spent a week without my car, made multiple trips to the dealership to take care of a replacement key and took up many hours of my time to fix the issue they had caused. Finally, after everything was sorted (they did pay the actual key replacement cost), I inquired about some form of compensation for the whole fiasco -- being without my car for a week and spending hours on fixing the issue, not to mention that a spare key to my car may still be floating around the garage. What did I hear back? Silence. I had expected they would offer some complimentary parking or even an apology for the whole ordeal. Even telling me no, we're not going to offer you any goodwill for your troubles would feel bad, but acceptable. But, instead, the garage management has flat out ignored me. Three emails to their offices and then one to the area manager -- zero in return. No, "sorry for the inconvenience," just being copied on one internal email telling someone to follow up with me who never did. If this is how they treat regular customers I'll choose not to be a regular any longer. read more

Soma Grand Garage is my go-to garage when I go to shows at the Orpheum. It's closeby and has a great all-day max rate. On the most recent Saturday that I went, it was $14. I prefer to self-park my car, but I tend to arrive within minutes of curtain call, and as a result, I end up having to valet, since there aren't any self parking spaces left. Not the end of the world, and probably a better option than the garages across the street, that charge the same rate. Although you valet to drop off your car, you pick up your keys downstairs, before paying, and get your car yourself. With the flat rate, at least you don't have to worry about how quickly you need to get your car out. Although, note that they do close at midnight. read more

It said that if you show your ticket stub you get a flat rate of $7, which I thought was a deal in itself, but that's only if you go over that amount. To my pleasant surprise my bill was only $4! woohoo! (Compare that to $12.50 for just over 2 hours for dinner near Union Square). This part of SF is pretty sketch, not gonna lie. We wanted to find a parking lot that our car would be safe in and luckily we found this. We saw a few reviews that said the security guards don't really care if people break into the cars, but we certainly didn't get that impression when we drove in. Plus, when we were about to leave, we saw a security guard in a room sitting in front of a bunch of tvs with security cameras. This parking garage seemed pretty big and it was an actual building dedicated to parking, and a lot of people parked their cars here. In case you were wondering, the garage closes at midnight, so if you don't pick up your car before then, you can't get it until the next day. Overall, this parking garage was cheap, clean and convenient. For $12 max, I highly recommend this parking garage. And I rarely review parking garages. read more

I really like parking at the SOMA Grand. It's really inexpensive and for $1-2 a day more than other area parking spots, you can park in a clean, well;lit place that offers free valet parking. I suspect it's partially because they have so few available spots and partially because the SOMA Grand has branded itself as upscale. I don't really care. the valets are friendly and I know my car will be there, in good condition, when I go to pick it up. I park there on occasion for work, but it's convenient to the Orpheum and restaurants like Heaven's Dog. read more

I have monthly non guaranteed parking over there for the past couple of months. I think it's a great parking overall. plus: + clean + safe + great employees + valet parking if you come back from work before 7pm and you can't find parking. However, I come back to work as early as 4 or 5 pm some days and i dont have a problem finding a spot. - closes at midnight. This pretty much means that you store your car over there for the night and you cant drive to clubs. I dont know if thats a bad thing though given that SF is a small city and it's worth it taking a cab and being safely driven from/to bars and clubs. read more

What a pleasant surprise. $4 parking in a structure on a Saturday night in SF? Amazing! The only drawback is that it is in kind of a sketchy-feeling area, but at least you are parking in a structure and not on the street. My friend got parking validated even though he already paid the prepaid fee for all day. However he had to go to the tenant in the back to confirm that it's been paid. Then when we exited the garage, the ticket was not working. Considering the ridiculous amount of traffic after the show this was the worst thing to happen. One of our friends had to leave the car to get the ticket re-confirmed. This happened fast enough but it was a huge hassle. Our friend also said the tenant appeared to be frustrated that this ticketing issue seems to happen often. Good luck if you park here! read more

I parked my car at this garage because I was watching a show at the theater. All the self service spots were gone so I had to valet my car. When I returned and got my car, I notice that ALL my quarters, about $5-$10 worth, were gone. Furthermore, I checked middle compartment and things were moved around and looked like someone had gone through my stuff. I complained to the guy in charge because the manager was not on site at the time. He told me that he was sorry but these kind of things do happen. So sounds like he was telling me that it was the norm at that garage. No. It's called STEALING! He wanted me to write a report but will have to wait till they cleared everyone. We just got out of a show and there were over 50 people waiting (another note: slow response time). I chose not to file a complain/report because I didn't want to wait at least 1.5 hours (50 people, 2 min each, 100 min) He told me that his manager will call me an discuss. Not holding my breath on that one. Also will call the corp office and launch a complain. I can see (but still wrong) that someone would take a few quarters here and there. But a whole HANDFUL? ALL the quarters? You should be ashamed of your practice at this establishment! read more

I Pay $300 a month to park here and get to the garage and see there are no parking spots left. Ask the valet guys about moving a car for you. "No we cant do that" even though they let in WAY too many valet cars and end up parking them perpendicular to the other spots, which blocks you in if you are in a normal spot. read more

What a true disappointment your company has been since taking over as the parking company at SOMA Grand.  Not only have your employees been the most incompetent and rude service valets I have had to deal with, but now you have raised the rates $10???  NO WARNING????  Charging by the hour with no break for people working over 8 hours??? Are you kidding???  An 8 hour shift is longer than 8 hours with federal mandated lunch break! So you get another $6 if a person has a real 40 hour/week job....great way to retain customers who have been parking here for years! Your employee said rates went up last week but I parked here Friday until minutes before midnight....Charged $20.  Great swindling operation...congrats for reaching that goal. read more

I used to be a regular customer here, but then they upped the rate to $20 per day instead of $10 if you arrive after 9:00am. I almost always make it in before 9:00, but it's not worth the stress to rush if I might not make it until 9:02. (Especially because there are absolutely NO exceptions. 8:59 or before, or you're toast. I learned this when I had a ticket that was stamped 9:00am and they still charged me $20 even after protests. That was a pricey minute!) In any case, there's a perfectly nice garage right across the street that charges $10 for all day parking even if I arrive at 9:02. Very inconvenient and hard to apply/get monthly parking from this garage. 1) Application - I never received an inquiry back in regards to my application online, 2) Number on yelp - no one ever picked up, 3) Called number on website and it was an operator whom could not help much, and stated no waiting list and full lot. She said the only way I could park is if I called "maybe" a year later becuz last she heard they use to have a waiting list and it was over 2yr wait. CONCLUSION: I gave up read more
