Tacos Al Carbon with refried beans and Mexican rice
Kilbert P.

Just terrible cultural misappropriation. White high school kids cooking Mexican. People working the entrance were so damn unpleasant. Waitress was the exception so helpful and nice. Food came and my wife's order was stone cold and we sent it back. My tacos al carbon were at best microwave and everything mush together. Refried beans tasted like they came out of a can and the Mexican rice was so dry. Excellent ambiance plenty of seating, but hardly anyone eating. Don't waste your time go next door to the Asian sushi place. Much better food and owner were happy to have you there.

nice atmosphere with warm tiles and lighting. there is a nice bar area with counter seating and booths. the way you enter the restaurant is a little strange to me but the restaurant is easily accessible. server was very friendly and did a good job with our lunch order. she was busy so times weren't always the fastest but she wasn't just standing, she was busy. the food looked delicious but in my opinion fell short of the presentation. there is some seasoning used that i don't care for in the food. not the traditional mexican seasoning, it's in their salsa and also in the dishes. my lunch partner agreed that food was good but probably not enticing enough for repeat visits.

Gave this place another chance after being disappointed before. Ordered the classic chicken burrito to go. I was given a burrito completely full of refried beans, only a few strands of chicken hidden in the mushy beans. Won't be going back anymore!

Grilled Chicken Chimichanga. Soo good but a ton of food, can definitely split this with someone!

The service was just okay, not great by any means! The patio was very nice! We were very pleased with our food and the cheese dip was 10/10.

Redfish Tacos

Wow. Great vibe. Super friendly staff. And some Of the best fish tacos (redfish) I've had. Tasty chips and salsa and an all around great experience.

Not sure why this place doesn't have 5 stars. The ambience was cool, Happy Hour is a plus. I was lucky enough to have Evan as a server (although technically I think he's a bartender). His candor was charming + his suggestions were on point. The food was fabulous - the complimentary chips were to. die. for. I'm at the hotel down the street and I can't wait to come back. Cheers, Sombra! Well done.

Lots of guac appetizer and chips and salsa

I live in El Paso, so when I went to visit my sister I wan not enthusiastic about going out for Mexican... All I can say is that the food was on point and the margaritas were so good, I was glad it was happy hour! I will go back!

Some of the best nachos and salsa around. Dang Good. Plus beer isn't so bad either

Just a solid resturant to go. When I head to Jackson area this is one of my stops. Chips and salsa. Some of the best ever had. Makes the wait for my food fly by. Well well worth just the chips and salsa. Sat at bar [better service] but not all tvs working for sports. So over all be back again and again for sure.

You are experiencing the incredibly rare photo caption that a Yelp user actually took time to write. Shrimp fajitas.

I would stay away from the tamales. They were terrible. The salsas and chips were just OK.

Save your money. The fried vegetables in the taco were only slightly warm. The brisket was tacos were cold. Best things are the chips.

All of my in-laws and my husband have eaten here and told me how wonderful it is - my turn! Small, unpretentious restaurant with a lot more seating than you would think from the outside appearance. Immediate lunch seating and prompt, large basket of chips with a mason jar of salsa and 3 small cups. The chips are good, but watch that salsa - it's got a kick! Husband and sister-in-law ordered the Tacos Nortenos with chicken; they had had these before and were fans. I'm not a big taco eater, but I took a bite of one and would definitely eat these. I went with sister-in-law's recommendation of the Monterey Enchiladas, and I would have licked the plate when I was done if I wasn't afraid of being caught...that cheese sauce is to die for! I want it on everything! Our drinks were refilled without asking, and there was no need for a takeout box. :) I had to stare at the bill for a minute before adding the tip - $41 for 3 people to eat lunch, with drinks & tax. It was SO worth the drive.

Men's bathroom didn't have any paper towels. Server was nice at first but didn't come back to the table. Rough around the edges but for the price, probably would opt for another spot given how much this place didn't check the boxes for us. Wanted to like it, but sadly likely won't be back.

The food in the cafe in the back looked like it had been sitting for hours and it was only 10 am. Highly deceptive pricing! They do not put prices on anything. Staff will speak only in Spanish to you. As a Latina, I find that this not only is unprofessional but not tailored to serve a community that is in need for reasonable pricing. I am heading to Hattiesburg area to pick up some of these staples bcuz there is no reason these prices should represent California prices.

Carniceria Valdez is literally a counter in the back of a Mexican grocery, but coming out of that kitchen is some mighty fine Mexican food. I went with a couple of tacos and a gordita. For the gordita, I went with chorizo as the protein and for the tacos I went with the asada and the barbacoa. The tacos were just under two dollars each ($1.99 to be exact) and the gordita was, I believe, $3.50. I probably enjoyed the gordita the most and the chorizo was definitely my favorite protein out of my three choices. The staff was friendly enough, though the ordering process was you walk up to the counter and order your meal and they call you up when it is ready. All in all, I would definitely recommend here and I will give it five stars.

Juarez Tacos doesn't look like much from the outside, (it's in an old Chinese restaurant…read morestorefront) but once you step in, the food tells you everything you need to know. The smell of grilled meat and warm tortillas hits before you even sit down, and it sets the stage perfectly. I started with tacos, of course. The tortillas were the kind you can tell are made fresh: soft, warm, and sturdy enough to hold everything together without falling apart. I went for al pastor and birria, and both came out packed with flavor. The pastor had that perfect balance of char and spice, while the birria was rich and comforting, dripping just enough to make you lean in over the plate. The real surprise was how much attention went into the small details. The salsas had actual heat, not just color, and they didn't drown out the flavor of the meat. The pineapple agua fresca I ordered on the side was bright and refreshing, a perfect balance to the heaviness of the tacos. Service felt easy and genuine. Nobody was rushing me, nobody was going through the motions, it just had that friendly, neighborhood vibe where you feel like they're glad you stopped in. By the time I finished, I realized Juarez isn't trying to be flashy or reinvent the wheel. They're just serving honest, flavorful food that feels like it belongs exactly where it is. It's the kind of place you think about the next day, when you're already planning what you'll order on your next visit.
