Do not trust these people to deliver what you're attempting to purchase. The following is the complaint I filed with the BBB: "I ordered a new front door, with hardware and frame from Somerset the Door and Window Co., of Soquel, CA, and paid 1450.00 deposit (50%) on March 10, 2026. I was told initial manufacture of base door would be 8-9 weeks and 2-3 weeks inhouse at Somerset to install hardware, etc. After the max time estimate of 12 weeks, I queried the office about door status on 6/4 and was eventually told they'd never even ordered the base door from the manufacturer. 12 weeks wasted, so I asked for my deposit back. Told on 6/9, they'd need a 'couple of days' to return my deposit. 9 days later, on 6/18, after asking where's my deposit, I was told on 6/19 that they'd need until 'mid-week next week' to return my deposit. Three weeks later, still no return of my deposit and no attempt what-so-ever to communicate with me, so I feel forced to file this complaint and will be forced to hire a lawyer if BBB can't help me." read more

We purchased our Marvin windows through Somerset last year, during COVID. I'm not sure if the company is short-handed, but the customer service is awful. We have had a few issues with our windows. Fautly buckling trim, missing screens (they were lost in their warehouse for 9 months!) that take 3+ emails over 5-7 weeks to get a response on; usually only after I ask if it would be better if I contact the manufacturer. In businesses everywhere, people are busy, short-handed, and we're all dealing with delays on goods. It's the lack of response/customer service that has soured me on this company. I'd never use them again, nor would I recommend. read more

Somerset does terrific work, but you have to stay on them. I mean, you need to call every other day. My last door is still not complete after five months, and this is after being told it would only take a few days! Next time, I'll probably go with someone else. read more

Great experience! So nice to shop at a local Santa Cruz business. They sell beautiful products. The staff is knowledgable and helpful and generous with their time. Ray was super helpful and responsive in getting me a bid. They had enough selection in their showroom, I could pick out the hardware there and one-stop shop. He got me some names of some trusted door installers and worked with me on this non-standard door I was needing. Super professional and responsive. Their bid was very reasonable too.
