They are more set up for selling to installers than direct to the public but they still try to accomodate everyone. Terrible help at the counter !! Came in with my elderly mom asking for general pricing on travertine. Instead of trying to be helpful first thing out of her mouth is she couldn't give That to us. So many brands and types. I asked if she could just pick one from her computer and she immediately said no she couldn't do that . Your job at a customer counter is to help people not tell them you can't help them !! Made zero sense. ‍. My mom was being so nice too. I have zero tolerance for this type of BS. If she didn't know how to help just say so don't say you can't. Person should not be working with the public. Scaring customers away isn't good for Business. I'm local and would never go back. We visited 10 building supply centers when we started looking for pavers for our driveway/walkway and patio. We were impressed with the personal attention and great advice we received from Central Home Supply, which was a great deal more than we got from the other shops. Reed took us around the yard and pointed out pavers he thought would suit our needs. He hit the nail on the head. When it came time to order, Reed gave us a much better price than the only other building supply house in the area that carries Techo Bloc pavers. In fact, the price had come down since our first visit due to lower transportation costs. When does that ever happen? And when does the building supply center pass it on? We were given a firm delivery date/time and sure enough, the pavers arrived right on time. The whole process of buying pavers from Central Home Supply has been stress-free and downright fun. I am am just a regular person who oc casionally gets an idea involving some rocks. CHS and Gregg have no problem with me stopping by to shovel 1/8 of a cubic yard (that's 40 shovelfulls) of drain rock into my SUV...over and over. Or buying that one pretty 29 pound piece of panther rock. Or asking endless questions, or sending random people over to get fill dirt. They are very Covid compliant. They help big customers, too, And CZU fire victims. And it is fun to stroll around looking at ALL THOSE ROCKS. Many thumbs up. read more

I needed some TechoBloc pavers that I was really struggling to get. A simple call to Central Home Supply got me in contact with Greg who got me a quote right away. And then Reed picked it up from there and worked with me to get a PO for the right stones (Blu 60's not Blu 80's) He was upfront about the delivery timing (~1 month) Reed was super communicative and provided me updates as I requested it. This is my first year growing vegetables so i went to get dirt advice from Central Home Supply. Spoke to two at the counter which both had a hard time agreeing with what was best for vegetables. But finally came to an agreement i wrote it down and sent my son back there the next day with the list and barrowed trailer. He got a product that they sold him something different not knowing , he dumped the load and returned the trailer. After i got home from work and read the receipt it was wrong. I went there the next day and showed the receipt to the guy at the counter and asked him if i could grow vegetables in this product he absolutely not, you need top soil. I've ordered large deliveries of stone/pavers/base rock/concrete from them several times now and the customer service is always phenomenal. They are friendly and truly invested in making things easy for you and in getting items delivered as soon as possible for current projects. Really set an example for what customer service should be! Also the deliveries have been great as well-- they give us a 2 hr window and the delivery guy knows our neighborhood well and how to navigate the tight streets. I really feel like they know their community! I'll never go with any other company for stones, pavers, etc. read more

These guys are great! A well run family business with locations on River St. and in Scotts Valley. The SV yard is really nice and well stocked with a wide variety of stone and landscape supplies. Their delivery drivers are very good - considerate, careful, and conscientious. It's a little difficult to comment on their prices since several other landscape supply houses have closed their doors over the last few years, but I believe they offer quality products at a fair price. Good quality cheap material. Simple to work with. My frustration and anger stems from me telling them to NOT charge my credit card and close my account without calling me with a total first. I even called a a second time to tell them DONT charge my card until you've told me the final bill. Then I called a third time to close my account and they said "We charged your card yesterday". Seriously pissed me off as there was a possibility it would've gone over my limit since no one was telling me the price. "We have to weigh the stuff first". I get that, but give me a total before you charge, I did not give the contractor a blank check. This was the Santa Cruz location if that makes a difference. read more

Beware, they delivered to the wrong address then harrass you and offer resolution only to dishonor their word. For many years I have enjoyed several purchases from tis company. They have delivered to our address and no problems but this time. WOW. Their driver would not or could not back an 8 foot wide truck into a 12' 8 " wide gate so he dropped 3 yards of dirt in a neighbors yard about 20 feet from my property line. This caused problems and Rick (the CEO) called after I had left a message about the problem. We had an agreement that since I had to pay someone else to re deliver the dirt they would "... deliver for free." (it still cost me another $100.00 to get it moved) I paid in full and now they continue to want a delivery fee again. BAD BEWARE. Other notes their driver made inappropriate comments about only getting loud after 5 shots of tequila which was a strange effort to be funny when he did not deliver correctly. All not good, so as with everything. Even when things have been good, it is buyer beware. Had excellent experience with Santa Cruz but this is the first and last with Scotts Valley. read more

Been to Central Home Supply twice just to look. Both times I was greeted at the door and given all the help I needed - even though I didn't buy anything. I am considering Alan Blocks for a retaining wall and CHS has all the options. Delivery is also available and since I live on a private road in the Santa Cruz Mtns. I was glad to hear they will use a fork-lift to drop the materials right where I need them. They can bring everything in one load - blocks, drain rock and base rock!. read more

I have purchased all of my garden soil amendments from River Street -- for about 20 years -- but I have made multiple purchases of rocks, pavers and garden features from the Scotts Valley site. In my experience, my dealings with the Santa Cruz store have been more professional and efficient than with the SV one. read more

Poor Costumer Service. Only one cashier answering phones and helping costumers. The phone calls were the priority. I stood in line with another costumer for almost 20 minutes while the cashier took several calls and ignored us standing in line. It was very frustrating, I left without purchasing any thing.
