So we stopped in here because of the amazing reviews on yelp. I ordered a glass of wine which was very good. We were really hungry and so we got the beer cheese Bearnaise....I mean maybe it's just this one menu item....but they need to remove it. A) the dip wasn't good, b) When they say pretzels they don't mean a warm soft pretzel they mean synder's pretzel rods.....I mean....I'm sorry, WHAT? I think they have a new owner(s). My wife and I had been on vacation and come here twice before and were previously asked what type of wine we preferred, be it red/white, dry/sweet, full/light bodied..etc. We picked on our own from the by the glass menu, which didn't have as large a selection as before. Both the white, Picpoul (Pomerol) from France and a Pinot Noir were underwhelming. We often have wine and appetizers for our dinner, so we ordered a charcuterie board, and a pate' plate. Again having been here before, the charcuterie board previously had meats, cheeses,nuts and bread that were so complimentary to each other that we would make this a meal. This time only meats, and 3 of the 4 were very similar in taste and texture. The pate' wasn't bad, but the cheese selections were not good. Bad aftertastes in 2 of 4, one with no taste and only one nice one (goat cheese). Leaving most of the meat and cheese uneaten, the host did not ask if there was anything wrong. Don't know if there were having a bad day or just didn't care. As we left, we noticed no one else was eating. Only drinking wine. Hope they improve, we loved it before. read more

Hidden gem, amazing wine & food and awesome music. I have never written a review before but this place was so great that I couldn't resist. The wine selection is unbelievable and the staff are completely knowledgeable on all the wines. (The staff are also super nice/cool). And what really made my night was that the food was delicious. The central location and size of this place is not only great for an after work hangout - but is really suitable for private parties, holiday parties, showers or any gatherings for probably 50 people without it feeling tight. Not sure what happen to my oysters, it was so super small, and every oyster felt like some took 2 bite and left 1 bite left in each shell. I went to look at all the oyster pics in the yelp review and none of them look like the pathetic baby infant oysters I had. I cant imagine anyone paying 3$ a pop for these infant oysters. Next up, bruschetta, happy hour rate is $6. You get 3 slices, so $2 a bite of baguette with tomatoes. Its tasty but I cant imagine coming back here paying $6 for 3 mini toasts. I made an account just to share this experience. The place is cozy, the wine and food were good, but everything was almost ruined by the disgusting service. We were the only clients in the bar on a sunday night (a group of 4) and our server treated us like we were beneath her establishment and she was doing us a favor by even bothering to serve us. She was rude from the very beginning, and in the end, she hurried us along to pay the bill and leave, and had the nerve to point out the suggested tips in case we didnt know to look. I've stopped in a few times now to Somm Time and have been super impressed across the board. An amazing wine list and a not-obvious glass list. Really thoughtfully put together. The glasses change often, and the list is pretty long. Everyone on the staff is helpful (they're also all sommeliers) and can guide you. For my money, the best snacks at any bar around. Everything from super composed dishes like the pig ears, to simply hunks of parmigiano with a balsamic honey. Not beholden to wine, they offer 12 draft beers and have a full liquor license. Despite the cheesy name, this is a decent spot for the Smith spillovers. The beers on draft aren't very good and the wine is pretty pricey for the curation (although the poor is decent), but it's a good spot to meet up with a friend. I work near the UN and hate typical Irish pubs but also can't afford the alternative upscale cocktail bar options, leaving me with little to choose from. When Somm Time opened I started going once a week with coworkers and have even taken some of the wine tasting courses they offer. Maria and Ciprian are very knowledgeable and will help you find the perfect wine to your taste (and budget). This is my go-to after work spot and cannot recommend it enough if you're a wine lover on a budget.
